Cheers for the suggestions! Anyone got any recommendations for hardware? I've ordered some Schaller tuners off ebay, they're only 20 quid from the states so I'm hoping they aren't cheap nasty ones, but every other bit of Schaller hardware I've had has been real good, I'm just a bit unsure about what bridge to get!

If there is, I'm not aware of it, but I bet someone has a good alternative to offer

I can most certainly vouch for Cai. He's helped me out loaning gear in the past, absolutely top lad, totally trustworthy. Buy his sh*t.

I've got a MIM jazz that I'm intending on spending a bit of money on doing up. I'm gonna put a J retro in it (unless someone has any better suggestions) and probably some Delano's, but I intend on replacing the hardware and maybe even getting a new neck for it. If anyone in the know can recommend me a good source of hardware and any other necessary bits and bobs that would be great!

Excellent! I'm thinking I can probably get away with it, it is going to have to go a bit lower than drop C though............

I've been persuaded to come out of retirement by my mates to join their band. They're tuning pretty low and I've bought a MIM jazz for the time being, but I'm going to need to string it like a 5 string. Has anyone tried this before with a MIM jazz? Did it handle it OK? I'm not expecting it to play like butter, but as long as I can get away with it, I'll be happy!

Also I saw them on the tour a few weeks ago at Manchester Apollo with Coheed and Cambria. They absolutely killed it. Their album would have been my musical highlight of the year, but that gig was by some distance the best live performance I've ever seen. Incredible and I couldn't stop talking about it for weeks after

Used to have a JM4 and wish I'd never got rid. It was an incredible bass!
