4.
by poweramp, are we talking my head? thats whats confusing me. RBI --> HEAD --> CAB is that correct?
You can run it that way yeah - But poweramps are stuff with no tonal EQ and such (eg they give you the volume) You could get an RBI and try it going into the ashdown (eg like you'd do with a pedalboard) I used to use a sansamp BDDI into my Ashdown Mag to give it a sound the ashdown just couldnt get on its own. But on the other side of the coin the sansamp couldnt get the tone on its own neither. I used both EQs to get the tone i wanted. Also the sansamp was handy for dialling in a bit of grit just to dirty the tone up a bit! Ask your mate if you can test his
5.
Would it basically render my head obsolete though? would i need to bother changing any settings on my head if the RBI is doing all this? technically could i just put RBI straight into cab? Whats the difference between a cab and a poweramp? I'm a bit new to the whole head/cab stuff too, any help is appreciated!
You would need to run the RBI into the poweramp - the poweramp is just a basic amplifier. I think it provides no tone shaping at all. I could be wrong though - this is just how i've always taken it. The cab is your speakers.
6. Hey folks, Selling my Hartke 115XL bass cab. I bought it with the plan of using it with my Ampeg 610 - just to get the insane low rumble from my Deep Impact. But i've used it twice since buying it. It was handy when I had my own practice space (gear setup all the time!) but now i don't - so the cab has sat in my garage not being used. It sounded really good the times I used it. Looking for £100 i think. I'd prefer this to be picked up - or I can provide the details for courier - just let me know. Dave EDIT:- Here is what the blurb says. http://www.samsontech.com/products/product...6&brandID=3
7. Someone on here is selling a Firebass head for about £150 i think.
8. Mines was either Fire - Jimi Hendrix, Korn - Blind or more likely Bullet in the head - RATM.
9. No bother I'm looking to get my amp sold so if its still available I'm interested. Have you ever had any problems with it?
10.
Unless i can have it for a bowl of peanuts and a fiver, don't think i can afford it! haha, Ummmm if you get an SVT VR can i try that too? haha! Your welcome to try my gear when i get some stuff worth usuing haha!
Sure - Don't see why not. Does anyone know of any local (scotland) and reasonable amp techs? Need this fixed!
11. Thats a really nice bass! Trade DJ4 for Dj4? Hehe good luck
12. Thats a really nice bass! Trade DJ4 for Dj4? Hehe good luck
13. Think i'd interested - need to shift my mesa 400+ though! Fancy a trade?
14. Sure. It may also be for sale soon tempted by a svt vr!
15.
I get this exact synth sound with my Akai Deep Impact (play this song in my Disco/Funk band). The tracking issue is normally down to people not driving the input stage enough on these units and getting the dreaded monotone note. Just give it a good hot signal and it works flawlessly.
Agreed. Also if you're looking for a Chris sound then you can't go wrong with the pedal he uses Deep Impact is my most used pedal i think - or my fuzzes.
16. Also I can take pictures if required? just let me know
17.
sounds like a preamp valve has gone, try turning it off and on again to see if it cuures it. If it does tap them all while its on to see which one goes into oscillation
Opened her up to check the valves - all the power valves are lighting up fine - tried tapping the pre valves but they didn't appear to move at all..
Three years of studying Electronic Music Technology and the most useful thing I learned was that the best way of fixing an amp was to turn it off and turn it back on again. It probably explains why IT Help Desk staff ask you to do the same thing
Tried this too - I'm getting more volume than before but still has to be cranked to get "normal" bedroom volume (eg channel volume full and the master volume volume at like 5/6) Does this sound like something dodgy with a preamp valve or power one? I don't have any spare valves right now to test neither. Cheers guys for all the help - Love this amp to bits, but kinda freak out it's gonna die at any moment (what with being discontinued etc)
18. Cheers for the reply folks. Will try your suggestions later. It hasnt been switched on again for 2/3 weeks so fingers crossed the ol' off n on again works!
19. Anyway of telling how it's dead? Cheers
20. Hey guys, Wonder if someone could assist me? As i mentioned the other day in my band thread, my 400+ died just before recording. I have no idea what the problem is. I set everything up as normal, switched the amp on - with stand by still on - so the tubes were warming up. When i was away to test everything was working, flicked the standby off and i got this buzzing sound, but VERY quietly i could hear the bass notes. We tried a different bass, different cable, differnet cable to the cab but it still kept doing the same? Anyone have any ideas what it could be? A few of my mates with 400+ (well 2 of them!) had their mesa's crap out when needed too, even more annoying is the fact that it worked amazingly at practice 2 days before hand, and every other practice before that! Cheers for any suggestions. Davie PS - I checked the fuse and it was fine, I haven't had a chance to even look at the valves neither..
21. Hey guys, Thought i'd spread the word about my new band, Fox Die. The name comes from Metal Gear. The myspace link is www.myspace.com/foxdieuk We recorded two songs a few weeks ago, and have worked to get the sound we wanted the last week or so. Now one song is up The song is called One Shot, One Kill - it's based loosely around Call of Duty/Battlefield/Other FPS games - delete as applicable. Feel free to add us up if you like the sound etc. I will be sticking another tune up in the next few weeks which is got silly amounts of Deep Impact abuse if anyone fancies that? One shot was recorded using my lakland DJ4, my pedalboard (which is on basschat) and it was meant to be my mesa 400+ - but it died at the start of recording So it was an Ashdown EVO with 4x10 and 1x15. Cheers Dave.
22. This is a terrible thread for me! I don't have space for all these toys!
