Ah you described it exactly what I’m missing. Do I just tell my tech to wire the bridge pickup in parallel? Planning to convert it to vol vol tone config as well just so I can mix the pickups like I always do on my PJs.
-
I’m mostly a P guy all the way and wanted to try the P+J settings both in series and parallel on my SP1. I just couldn’t get along with it, sounds very humbucker-ish to me vs a more traditional PJ(for reference I like the Yamaha BBP35 PJ tone). J tone solo I got no problem, I can get a nice fat Jaco-ish tone. It’s just the PJ setting. Anything I can do to make it sound at least closer to a traditional PJ? Will changing the config to vol vol tone make a difference or do I have to change bridge pickup that has different character which I don’t mind.

I'll check that out! I'm also using a DCX and B15 NAM which I really like! The DCX sounds exactly like my DCX. It's good to know that there's Tone3000 available to check out and it's free!

I’ve just played with it tonight and hooked it up with my focusrite via xlr. I quite like what I hear on the settings I’ve dialled in. It sounds amazing just before breakup and that’s how I set it up. I noticed when I engage my Octabvre and Doom, it kinda sounds a bit rounded? Probably the cabsim. It’s not bad. It pairs well with the Empress whether it’s light or heavy compression, I quite like it. The Capo is more versatile but I found it easier to dial a nice vintage tubey tone with the Bassrig. I have a love and hate relationship with the Capo’s B channel. Sometimes i love it but sometimes I feel it’s underwhelming. Spent the night playing around. I found it easy to dial my go-to tones. I like the Noble here than the Stomp. The Kaamos Octaver sounds ace and it tracks so well. Envelope Filter and Moogerfooger sounds organic and waaay better than the Stomp filters. Very easy to navigate and work with. Only thing I’m missing is a good sounding synth brassmaster type fuzz. I can’t get the duality to sound the way I like. Also a 1176 style compressor would be good! Hyper luminal is meh for me but it is workable and useable. It’s a good purchase for me and I’m glad I did.

Sharing my current rig. Just got the Anagram today which I intend to use as flyrig. It’s as big as my Nintendo Switch I love it! Small board is still my meat and potatoes so it stays.

This just arrived! Bought the only stock in GuitarGuitar yesterday. Still keeping my analog board though.

Ah I see. My tone control functions like a normal Pbass would

I’ve never had a Canadian one but what do you mean with the tone control being weird?

Mine weighs at around 3.9kgs, I took it to a wedding gig in Grantham this weekend and survived a 30 song setlist with no shoulder pain. I've mostly used the P or the J tone only which covered most of my needs. I love the feel of the neck of this thing, rounded on the edges, not too chunky not too thin. It feels like a D but I'm not very particular whatever shape it is as long as it feels good when I hold and move my hand around the neck I'm good. It was comfortable on that 2 sets we played. I tend to roll off the tone knob a tad, it's the sweet spot for me. I bought the instrument from BassDirect without having tried any Dingwalls at all! Sure it is expensive as some people say for an Indonesian made instrument, but I've no regrets. I also like what they did to the pickguard holes on the knob and jack. Just remove the screws and no need to remove any washers on the knob and jack in case you need to remove the pickguard. If anything, I raised the action slightly higher as it was too low for my taste. Now, I'm just looking forward to put more miles on this instrument! Also not a fan of sunbursts. The green one looks good too! If it came with a tort pickguard I might have considered it! All I can say is, do it! haha Chad

Back to my 1st fave comp! Got it at such a super nice deal with a fellow basschatter.

Recorded a quick vid and soundclip yesterday: Excited to use this for tomorrow’s wedding gig!
-
Thank you! I'll try to record more and cover more playing styles too! But yeah, the bass can be gentle when you want it to. In my experience, it is super responsive with my playing touch from mellow plam mutes, fingerstyle, digging in, hard slapping and even picking. I slept late last night just playing around with it and I wasn't like this when I had my first Fodera and Lakland USA lol

It is! This bass covers so much for me already I really like it. I had to dial the tone back a bit, as its got a lot of bite! Probably the character of the pickups. I love the P tone so much!

Quickie Soundclips I recorded: Drum and Bass Groove Dingwall Groove.wav Charlie Puth - Boy Boy Dingwall.wav This bass is just so easy to play! I had to raise the action a bit as it was too low for my taste, I like a bit of force when fretting

Agree! Hello fellow graphic designer!

Latest State of the Board. Still thinking if I should get a comp or a chorus pedal
-
NBD and my first Dingwall! Pic don’t do it justice. It’s prettier in person and is freakin’ light! Didn’t take long for my hands to adjust on the fanned frets

My Dingwall arrives tomorrow! So excited! Are the strap buttons in these basses Dunlop? I have a Dunlop straplok on my strap installed so it would be good if they come with it.

FOR COLLECTION only at SW19 or can meet somewhere nearby. **Long shot but willing to trade for an Iron Ether Oxide top jack. Currently installed: -La Bella Low Tension Flats and set to medium-low action. -Dunlop Straplok. Quick soundclips here: Dm groove Capo Groove.wav Boy - Charlie Puth Boy Slap.wav Any questions, fee free to message me! Chad

Not sure if prices will change in the future on Bassdirect but like you, £1950 is my limit as well. Could've just gone with a used Lakland Skyline tbh. But wanted to try something new and It's my first Dingwall so I don't know what to expect aside from what the forums praise them for. Just waiting for new updates from Bassdirect. Also, I'm on the same boat as you, for any bass I'm keen to get, 4kg below is my limit. More than that, I'd think twice. My heaviest bass was a Lakland Skyline which was 5kgs. Never going back again with such hefty bass! I'm looking forward to the SP1s though! I like a traditional precision body and the touch of Dingwall is realy something!
-
Just like the Lakland Skylines IIRC. Excited to get mine. Since seeing the metallic black, I'm having 2nd thoughts with the white one on my way, maybe I can still ask BassDirect if I can still change

Excited to receive the "ÿour order has shipped" email from Bassdirect! They are due to arrive soon last time I messaged them which was 2 days ago.

I dig the all black setup! Beautiful!

Nice! Hoping I get mine too soon! I’m so excited!
