  1. Thats very good to know, Im leaning toward the 12" versions. I found the 10" sounded great but the lows could be a little hard to control sometimes. Im not sure I'd need the extra top and bottom end that the BB line provides tbh but then again they sound incredible on demos. The Super Compact/Twin seem like they have the perfect range for clanky rock stuff to sit in the mix nicely.
  2. So next up on the list of eye wateringly expensive purchases is a cab. Previously I was considering the Barefaced four10 or six10 but I've see a few folks pairing the WB-100 and other similar all valve heads with the Super Twin or Big Baby 2 cabs, anyone here had any experience with them? I loved my two10 (only ever used it with a GK fusion S) and the singer in the band has a Super Twin which I'm gonna try to get around to trying but just curious to hear thoughts. I'd be pretty tempted by getting 2 Super Compacts/Big Baby cabs so I could use one at home and both for gigs.
  3. Very surprised its still here at that price!
  4. I wish mine worked, i tried it a couple of times at rehearsals. Great punchy warm tone from what I remember, might try and get it connected up soon.
  5. I think that largely depends on what effects you're trying to achieve. I've found that the modern multifx unit in many cases can be indistinguishable from the real world counterpart. I think my personal experience is that it's often a more editorialised version or snapshot of that effect, often missing some nuance when it comes to the individual controls and how they interact. If I replaced my analog pedals with a multifx it'd be about 1/4 of the price and I suspect 95% there tonally. The argument against going all digital for me is stubbornness.
  6. Yeah definitely, id probably expect a more budget friendly GX100core before they replaced the GT line. TBH the core line has more than enough power, especially compared to other similarly sized pedals. I can't see myself ever saying goodbye to analog pedals, the small profile multi like the core and stomp seem like the perfect way to inject some digital processing without completely replacing everything.
  7. I voted Boss although I don't currently own one I see it more as a hiatus as I do intend to grab a GT1000core at some point in the near future assuming they don't release a similarly sized upgrade.
  8. Yeah definitely leaning towards the 10" cabs. Its a hard one to justify at the mo though as the guitarist has a 6x10 and 8x10 Ampeg available and a van 😂
  9. Aye, I'm using the input of the Hand Box over the return just out of simplicity more than anything.
  10. Haha cutting through the mix is a double edged sword, its great people can hear you but unfortunately means you actually have to play the right notes in the right order.
  11. Haha thanks for letting us use the cabs, they sounded incredible. The SVT weighs a ton but it sounded incredible, really enjoyed it. I do enjoy that i can still play with an all valve head but still manage my head, bass and pedalboard in one trip without putting my back out 🙌
  12. Just on the Capo LPF, i was always a little concerned that it was applied to the line out as well as the DI signal. There was loads of presence and top end though, everything just sounded great. Even had someone mention how it had the perfect treble to cut through and give some clank.
  13. First gig last night with the WB-100. It sounded incredible 🤘 Immediately got compliments from the sound guy in check. After we played got a bunch of people asking what the head was, even the guitarist got complimented on how sick his bass tone was 😂 Very happy with the head, absolutely massive sound for a negligible weight. I'll never get bored of seeing the valves glowing away.
  14. We i was originally gonna get a backup head, a gss baby sumo then one thing led to another and ended up with the Hand Box. It's 25kg lighter than the Marshall which is a huge difference and it's incredibly hefty. The Capo > Model FeT > Hand Box WB-100 setup sounded awesome though. I was playing through a Barefaced cab last night, 15". I loved my old bf two10 and supertwin i used to borrow occasionally. Awesome cabs. The four10/six10 is on my purchase list although its gonna have to wait a while after recent purchases!
  15. Enjoy!!! Sound man just congratulated me on my bass tone, thanks a bit to the Capo and a bit the my new Hand Box head. It's gonna be a pretty gnarly gig 😂
  16. She asked if I liked the amp after practice and instantly started rolling her eyes. That's even before I proceeded to talk about girthy drive tones and pillowy lows at her for 10 mins.
  17. Haha na my partner would kill me if i even suggested it, this is the rehearsal room we use at Prospect Studio near Bradford. We do also have a very similar collection of monsteras in our living room though.
  18. New Hand Box WB-100 at practice, will be using this for our gig on Thursday albeit with an Ampeg 6x10. Absolutely cracking bit of kit, sounds so good it distracts from my sloppy playing 🙌
  19. Hefty! It sounds perfect, lots of grit and handles extra drive pedals perfectly. Everyone had a little raised eyebrow when I booted it up followed by an appreciative stank face. I wasn't sure how it would hold up for getting some more aggressive tones as most of the demos I've heard have been more funk, blues and rock but it doesn't disappoint in the slightest. It's a perfect replacement for the Marshall 40kg monster. It works beautifully with the Jad Freer Capo preamp upfront. The Model Fet and Longsword pedals give some fantastic clank where needed, they sounded great already but the WB-100 really brings them to life. Completely anecdotal but I don't remember grinning this much while playing my old GK 700rb or Fusion S 800. The Marshall VBA400 is the only other amp I've tried and immediately thought I couldn't imagine using anything else.
  20. It's a keeper!
  21. Haha I like your style 😂
  22. I really wish I'd spend more time playing with the echo and reverb effects. I was looking at the Mastro Valvola LEM and just thinking how close you could get with the Core. Lots of reverse echoes and doing all the weird stuff with LPF bitcrushers and stuff like that. You could get some incredible effects, especially combined with the OFF1.
  23. Yeah the more I've read the more i think I'm happy to just keep to the Jad Freer Capo for recording and home practice, it sounds incredible. I always take a clean DI when recording so i can always reamp with the WB100 at a later date if I feel it's missing some valve goodness. Even if I got a 1x10 or something again for home I'd still be limited by only really getting to practice when the child was asleep.
  24. There was a cool video that helped me get my head around it, Jared Gunston i think and he was using the assigns to create a more reactive noise gate. Basically as you play, the threshold reduces on the gate. It resulted in a much smoother, more natural noise suppression from what I remember but it really blew my mind.
  25. Yeah it's really cool, you can use it to throw in a bit more grit when you dig in or get some really cool effects. What gets really cool is you have access in assigns to use that same sensitivity to effect parameters of fx blocks. So for example you could have the Feedback control of a Flanger driven by how aggressively you play.
