  1. I'm managed to score a Radial ProDI for around £40 on ebay a while back. I've also got a very nice DI on the Jad Freer Capo which is I'd say inline with a JDI and similar. I've also used super budget DIs. Can honestly say, while there is a noticeable difference between the extreme ends of the spectrum in a direct comparison, for live use it's pretty negligible. Certainly a case of diminishing returns. If I didn't have the Capo I'd be going for something like this or a second hand radial low/mid level DI for live music use. What ever had a reasonable noise floor and was compact.
  2. Interesting to know! I'm always buying pedals with a view to integrating on my board which I think sometimes stops me from going for stuff purely for fun or messing around with. I've got a few in/outs on my patch bay so might rewire so I can create little pre and post fx loops in my main board and plug stuff in without a full rewire. I've been back and forth on getting a Mod Dwarf for a while now for this kind of stuff but couldn't see it taking a permanent residence on my board right now.
  3. I see so many exciting and exotic looking boards on here. I sometimes feel my board is pretty boring being almost entirely preamps and drives. In my head I want to play with lots of interesting modulation, synth and delays. In reality I know I'll just stick to the same old gritty tone, certainly in the band. Does anyone have a main board for gigging along with a more creative/experimentation oriented board etc.
  4. Between Swift, Vein Tap, Bright Onion and Lazy bear there are some great cheap options 🙌
  5. Well it escalated and now I'm looking at the Boss ES-5. This is what happens when we go a month without a band practice or gig 😂
  6. @fretmeister Love the LS2 although it's a pretty big pedal and super overkill for what I need, I'd need 2 of them on the board and it'd take up a fair bit of room! @ped That's a great find, only marginally more expensive than the cheap Amazon ones, I think 2 of the single loop ones would be perfect.
  7. Hey! Looking a slightly more complex pedalboard setup and it'd be really handy to have a couple of loops i can quickly turn on/off. Nothing fancy, no clean blend or anything like that, just small profile single loop. There are some cheap options on amazon but wondered if anyone had experience using them? I think the power supply is just for the on/off light. Any thoughts on these or other options would be great! https://amzn.eu/d/2Z4XlRR
  8. Nice, a leopard print 112 that rivals a BB2 for £300 is worth the blood and sweat!
  9. I forgot to add my Thumpinator on my board after reorganising a little while back and noticed a significant increase in clipping on the WB100, still sounded incredible. When I added it back on i didn't have any clipping.
  10. It sounds like just about any class d or solid state head or combo would fill your requirements. It's gonna depend what your tonal preference is etc. Lots of great deals for cheap heads and combos on here.
  11. Yeah pretty fortunate I have access to all the tools and stuff so it's really just materials etc. I imagine sourcing the speakers is the most costly and tricky to find. Might have a proper look tonight.
  12. Well it'll be lighter than the backup ampeg 610 I'm sure 😂
  13. Ahhh just priced up with the price list and looks to be around £275-300ish. Just reading through the plans, no time now but on my list of things to do.
  14. Out of curiosity how much did they cost to build? What kind of weight? Looks like a fun project!
  15. @bigjimmyc I was considering the 9.5 hour round trip, if you're down the road just get it 😂
  16. This looks excellent and I'm only down the road, could do with selling some bits to free up funds. Just wondering if you've experimented with pairing alongside other cabs? Not sure 1 would cut it in the band!
  17. I found this, it was really intermittent. I wonder if it's due to someone else using it at the same time or something.
  18. Aside from the OP it's actually been a really insightful thread, it's really interesting to hear how people handle sharing stages with other bands and change overs etc. It might not be right for my current band but I'm in no way against IEMs. I'd still probably want a BF 112 or something to give a bit of the feels/backup etc but running at much lower levels.
  19. Can you browse the plugin store/beta store without the device?
  20. Awesome, you have all the best toys!
  21. Haha yeah same although to resolve it would mean jumping to a significantly bigger board!!! It's either a ridiculously long board or a very tall sparse board. Yeah it's a great sound, really built for guitar but just works great for bass. Theres a great demo of the Dagger V2 which is a cut down version of the Longsword. Its an Ergodox, used to have 2 but my Ergodox EZ kickstarter died and this diy one is on its way. Gonna replace with the Avalanche V4 but need to set some time to solder it all! Love a good ergonomic keyboard 🙌
  22. @Ander87 yeah I mean more like cranking the gain and level on B to around 2-4 o'clock. I'm aiming for obliteration levels here. I get a huge jump in volume, the FeT on the other hand just crushes it. I imagine thats part of the attraction for all the doom stuff, you can throw all sorts of fuzz at it and it just gives you a saturated wall of filth.
  23. I think the Capo has a good range of grit on A and in combination with B can provide a range of tones. That being said if you really crank the B side level to drive the A the volume jump makes it pretty unusable for anything other than an always on. With the FeT it pretty much caps the level, any additional gain going in just saturates massively, it's a monster. Not sure how the Hudson would respond but definitely worth playing around with it. I personally preferred the FeT in the post loop as it's the perfect end of chain tone (drive) sweetener, my musical technical vocabulary is pretty limited but the best way I can describe it is chewy. Aye the Ground and Pound sounds pretty good, as much as I love JC I'm not sure I need that pedal, the Halberd gets close enough but I'll probably end up buying one anyways 😂
  24. Yeah I'm sure the Dwarf could be flashed with a Community version of the lower level stuff should the worst happen. It's funny because I keep thinking "what if they go under and there are no more updates" but it already has an obscene number of plugins available. Equally I don't think the GT1000core is likely to see as much as a quality of life update now, nevermind any new content.
  25. Anyone else using another preamp in the post FX loop? I have the Model FeT in there as it stacks so well with drives, I find it gives a nice smoothness to the Capo and other drives. Started having a play to see what kind of grit I can get out of just the Capo and Model FeT and I'm finding using the B side as a boost really pushes the A side and output in to the FeT which just sounds great. Will try and get some demos. If you do have another Pre that takes drives well I'd give it a go. You loose a little of the Capo powerful EQ but still lets you shape the tone you're cramming in the other preamp 😂
