  1. hmm, not to bad-mouth things on the forum, but I personally woudn't want to spend £3000 odd on things which have NO warrenty covering. Also, (especially with new basses) there's nothing quite like handing over the cash for your first guitar at a shop . But it's totally up to you, and don't just go and buy te first thing you see. Sometimes it's worth the petrol money going somewhere to get a better deal (i.e. brighton for GAK )
  2. james jamerson? Early Stevie Wonder stuff? (Sir duke, Master Blaster) Jamiroquai has some nice funky stuff out there if you're into fx and synffs oh, has anyone here badmouthed the rush bassist here? I hear he's pretty good!
  3. no I think it was a BMS on full blast.... ok it's because it's an ashdown! They're the skoda of the bass playing world
  4. hmmm, I've been youtubing for hours... what the heck does the moog actually do?!
  5. ok, just got back from a rehersal. I don't think we'll want this - We've got an 8 channel powered mxer, and it's not worth the money just for 5 extra channels, plus having to lugg around another bit of kit.
  6. My band may want this. I'm going to a rehersal in about an hour's time. I'll be in contact! actually... we do have the money (from gigs) for this... hmm.. it's a possibility. I will get back to you
  7. hmmm, what rig do you have at the moment? I'd say get a decent bass (i.e. worth over £800) and a decent amp (300 watts or over) first, then you can go down the effects route. It worked for me, and I've never looked back. I can now focus all my money on getting a hugggge pedalboard. Speaking of which, home-made pedalboards are no much better than bought ones! :D::D:D:D
  8. ooooh! It's a possibility! I'll just pay my debtsfor my last purchase to my Dad and then I may make you an offer. Consider this open to anyone else for the tim being, though.
  9. hmm, yes. I just think that I couldn't live with myself buying something that I won't use live! It just seems a waste. So I always go for the ashdowns, EHs, and synffs
  10. Jim dunlop bass wah 105q. I might not be buying this. Depends how much money I have left after buying other things once my paycheck clears
  11. -> You're breaking bass strings? I can't begin to imagine what your playing style is like. If the bridge is well designed it shouldn't be doing that. <- haha, I broke a bottom E the other day. But it was only because it was the string was thru-body and it was thinner at the bridge end than the rest of the string (maybe as an increase for sustain). Either way, it broke playing relatively hard rock (think linkin park kind of stuff, only slightly less) and it just gave way. (OT story) In the end I got a string off my other bass that was too short to get strung thru-body so it went through the bridge, then I gave my bass away to someone to borrow for recording (in promise for a new set of strings) and they came back with the top 3 thru-body and the bottom E thru-bridge. teehehee, good to see that he cared for her. bottom line: Thru-body=breakable....easily
  12. hmm, does it fit a 10cm high pedal when it's closed? It's the jim dunlop 105q bass wah (in case you've got one ) EDIT just seen the dimensions. Can you confirm that it won't fit?
  13. hmm, it would probably be a pedal on my board that I'd whack mayber for a solo boost (ok, probably not) or as a thing to cut all the treble and bass outa my sound, leaving the mids, then overdrive it for a just-bass-fill. Seems to sound nice when i do it on audacity! I'm thinking of it as an experimental pedal. Condier it still available and if it's still here in a week or so I'll grab it.
  14. agh! oh well, plenty more fx in the forum!
  15. Is that the half-valve half-digital line 6 thing? I'm still not convinced. I'm gonna have to see if Bonners have stuff in stock (most useless music shop in the world anyway).
  16. teeheehe, do they do a behringer moogerfooger? I might be buying it (the EQ)... I just owe people some money and once they're paid (and I've GAS'd some other things) Then I'll see...
  17. what's your opinion on the equaliser? How does it handle bass frequencies?
  18. erm, first dibs on pedalboard please! Will it fit a 10cm high pedal? EDIT And on the Powerbank if it falls through!
  19. Dude, that thing looks nice! Quite slagging it because it's physically impossible for it to work!
  20. ooooh, I may be buying this. Looks like a good casing for a pedalboard. I wonder how many boss-style pedals you could fit in there?
  21. *ahem. This is the effects section. There's an amp section As long as the generator gave out 240V 50hz AC then it should be ok. You may want to take it to a specialist to check it out
  22. BUMPAGEISSNESSAGENESS Cmon, guys! This is 20gb worth of mostly unknown music! Sorry about having no pics yet - I've been out at the big church day out all day! (It rock'd) It's beyonce to the black crowes, House of heroes to Hillsong!
  23. I should explain: I got my Archos 605 wifi back from repair for something else and it came back with a broken touch screen. Because of the buttons on the side of it, you can still navigate everything moderately quickly. I'm looking to sell it for £80 (towards an ipod), but am willing to offers (but not trades - unless it's an ipod classic 80gb+). Comes with original box, original packaging, original headphones, original everything! There's a small dent on the back (cause of the original problem to do with booting up). If this does come back where it can't start up within 6 months of sell then I will refund it in full! Pictures to be uploaded - it's in used condition, so the corners have scratches, etc. I comes with 2 series of scrubs, 1 livin it dvd, and a house of heroes music video (all together probably worth £50 anyway). Add to that my entire 20gb music collection, and it's worth it's money just in music. It's mostly rock with a bit of christian rock thrown in. From Thousandfootkrutch to Anberlin and a bit of ABBA for you perky ones . I'm not usually into the whole 'selling your music collection' thing, but I'm sure you'll find stuff you like! Just to say: you are getting this for less than 30p per album! It has no plug ins but they're not really neccesary, unless you're into the whole aac thing. Pictures to come!
  24. I've got one built into my 300watt combo. The only thing I can say is that it sucks some tone, gives some buzz, shaves a bit of bass, but does the job I don't use it unless I'm in a quiet setting where no one wants their faces melted off. Having said that, I can get the bassiness back by some sub-octaves on my combo as well, and by the 5-band eq
