1. I cancelled the string order, seems that Stingrays usually ship with nickel strings and I think they are the original strings. Might try some halfwounds or groundwounds a try.
2. I've just ordered some Fender 150 Original Nickel Bass Strings 45 -105s. See how they work out
3. Hmm. I guess I'll try some more brands of strings. The flats had most everything I'm looking for, except the high end definition which is why I think I can find that sound by changing the strings.
4. I've got a 4H Stingray, which I love dearly, and I can get most any sound out of it, except the one I want. I've tried flats, but they lacked a little high end definition. Currently it has what I think are the factory strings on, which sound good but they are missing a little oomph. Will putting heavier rounds ok swap a bit of brightness without sacrificing clarity for some oomph or do I need pressure wounds or something else? What do you stingray stingray dudes use?
5. Swap for a four string stingray?
6. ibanez sr500 could be a good bet
7. I got an identical one, absolutely mint, with an extra clear scratchplate for £650 by careful ebaying.
8. Thanks guys going by these statistics, it's just a matter of time until someone else buys one
9. Here are the photos, as you can see it's a lovely dark burgundy colour, in absolutely mint condition. The plastic is still on the electronics cover!
10. I've just bought a Stingray, so I need to sell my two week old Ibby SR500 I had it set up after I bought it so it plays better than it did new. I can also provide the receipt so that if someone does buy it they can take advantage of the warranty etc. It's in perfect condition, as new no dings, issues at all. I'm asking £340 as it's basically a brand new guitar - if you were thinking of buying one of these and you are near Hertfordshire! I will post some pics up when I get in tonight. I am happy to have people come and look at it. Thanks, Andrew.
11. Yeah, Mine's more dark burgundy than brown.
12. Hi - thanks a lot for all your help. I ended up buying an Ibanez SR500 and a Roland Cube 30. + = I just played through Hope Leaves by Opeth a few times as my first song. It's easy, but lovely and relaxing to play.
13. I did. I was nice, but in the end I couldn't justify £900 + amp for my first bass.
14. They do the 9 months interest free scheme, so it would make it a little more easily affordable. It's not that much more than they seem to go for on the bay. I am considering buying from here, but obviously travel and availability are considerations. I definitely won't buy without trying.
15. Hi - I work in the City - although I wouldn't be able to bring my bass on the train. Do you have spare basses that students can use?
16. I quite like the look of this, and for a shop it seems a reasonable price. Musicman Stingray V Is it a good one, or are there some to avoid? Also, what sort of tone do you get with these?
17. Where are the dings? I like the look of this. Would you be able to meet somewhere between suffolk and herts?
18. Ah bugger. I'd have liked to come and take a look but you're 3.5 hrs away in the car
19. Despite the fact that he doesn't do that much flashy stuff, I think his playing always complements the music perfectly. I'm listening and thinking the first song I attempt to learn will be something from damnation.
20. Yeah. I don't have a bass amp. I doubt I'll ever gig, so it will be purely for practise. Are Orange as good as their guitar counterparts?
21. Hi there. I'm new, and I don't have a bass yet. I'm looking for a nice fender. I have played guitar for years but the bass is always what I notice in songs. I like jazz, but my favourite music is rock and metal. My favourite bassists are; Martin Mendez Justin Chancellor Geddy Lee
