1. I reckon this combo will be able to replicate the sounds of the Orange. It may sound even tubier than the Orange as those Terrors only have a preamp tube, while the TC's Tubetone simulates both pre and power tubes. The TC is probably more versatile as well, from what I've read and heard the Orange is very much a rock head while the TC can do just about anything. Can't compare the weight and portability as it all depends on the cab to match the Orange
2. Haven't seen any discussion on these... I seem to be the only person on the internet that has played on one Well I was lucky enough to go to Manson's yesterday (great shop btw, staff are really friendly and are happy to let you try the huge amount of gear they have) with the purpose of deciding which amp I'll be buying in the next couple of months. I only tried two amps The first was the Hartke LH500, which has great reviews, with a Hydrive 410. It was okaaaay IMO. I could get some nice sounds out of it (as you can see from my smile in my picture ^_^ ) but it didn't really blow me away. I was disappointed (I did take into account the fact that the amp had vintage style tone controls, but it just wasn't for me I don't think) I was then enthusiastically encouraged to try the new TC BG500 combos that had just come in. Plugged into the 115 version. I was a bit hesitant at first because I was really after a head and cab config but I played with it for a few minutes and was really impressed! I could dial in the exact tones I wanted in a few seconds; deep and warm tones for walking jazz lines, hifi Marcus style slap tones, rock tones, etc. I really liked every feature on this amp. Tweetertone and contours were good, and the memory feature seems really useful. The compressor sounds great, one knob; the first compressor I understand how to use Tubetone is really cool, gives me the feeling I'm using a real tube amp. The way I like to think of it is using the Tubetone knob to set how dirty your 'tubes' are and then using the gain to 'drive' them (yeah, you could just set the gain and use the Tubetone as an OD knob, but I like pretending that this is a real tube amp ) This and the tuner will eliminate the need for my pedals. 500w is more power then I'll ever need, which is great. It's quite heavy but not as heavy as my Peavey, which is pleasing. I can actually carry it myself (just about). I think I ended up spending an hour on this amp, its so fun to use! I didn't feel the urge to try anything else out after that I asked for the price and I was really surprised that it was only £570 (the Rebelhead is £800 on its own ). The Rebelhead has all the features this has and more, but the BG500 a TC amp that I actually have a chance of affording This combo is half the price of a Rebelhead and matching cab. I didn't compare it with the Rebelhead but I can't see it being much different soundwise. I hope that covers everything... I'm really enthusiastic about this combo and will be picking one up as soon as I can
3. Tickets?! I thought they had all sold out! Gotta get mine quick (and get some money off somewhere, spent all my money on a new jazz )!
4. Sold my Enigma Qballs to Owain. Smooth, quick, easy sale, basically what the guys above said. Would do business with again without hesitation! Thanks again
5. Down to £90+postage! Great pedal at great price! ... Well IMO
6. Saturday morning bump... Will consider all offers (I just want to get rid of it )
7. Yeah, I thought Gary's band wan't that good either. Sounded like noise to me... Marcus on the other hand was a complete contrast! The bass sound was a bit boomy at the start (or was it me?) but got better during the gig. They even came back onstage for an encore afterwards. I was pretty depressed when I woke up next morning and I finally realised that I was back to reality
8. SOLD I'm selling my Electro Harmonix Enigma Qballs envelope filter. I don't use it or need it and I'm saving for a new bass so the most logical thing to do is to flog it! Excellent condition, haven't used it much, never gigged, only stomped on with socks, etc. Has velcro applied to it but the feet that were originally on it are in the box. All packed nicely with the original packaging Pic (click for larger photo): I'm looking for £100+postage ono. Not looking for trades Thanks!
9. I'm going to see Marcus, can't wait Hopefully I'll have found a large SD card by then so I can record as much of it as possible...
10.
Is the enigma as as good as the video reviews make it sound... I want one lots... considered selling on the Discumbobulator to fund buying one
There are video reviews?! Anyway yeah if you're talking about the Jack Conte video then yeah you can dial in that exact sound (although you may need to adjust some settings on your rig or bass)
11. I have the Engima. Whether it boosts your volume is entirely dependent on your settings but it generally doesn't TBH. It's a very good and extremely tweakable pedal however
12. My pedal board is finally complete! For now Sorry for sucky phone pics, I'll post better quality ones when I get hold of a decent camera Ibanez PD-7 -> Korg Pitchblack -> EHX Enigma -> Boss PH-3 -> EHX Bass Big Muff Pi
13. Traded my Korg AX3000B for his Ibanez PD-7 and some money. Friendly, quick PMs, well packaged and arrived quickly! Brilliant all round
14. Nice! I might have to look into one of these... Sound clips please! Btw what's the bypass like?
15. Here's a sound clip: http://www.supload.com/listen?s=Tjm4O6 About 6 or 7 minutes long. I was basically twisting knobs almost randomly so a lot of the sounds sound kinda the same or get a bit too loud or quiet in places. A lot of synthy sounds in there. If you're looking for a particular sound, just ask and I'll try my best to find it
16. I got one earlier today It's a very good pedal, I can get all sorts of weird and wonderful sounds out of it. The thing is that this is my first proper pedal (other than my Bass Big Muff that came today too), and that it's so tweakable, I need to spend a lot more time with it to use it to its full potential. I did manage to get a cool techno sound out of it earlier (can't remember the settings had the distortion on though). Good buy! Once I get used to it I'll post some clips or something
17. It's still sitting here waiting for a new home! All offers considered! EDIT: SOLD
18. Hey, I've been lurking around here a bit for a while now and have been buying a few things from the marketplace but never posted... ... So hi I'm Max and I'm 15, been playing bass since December '08, after my little sister persuaded me to try bass so we could start a band (she plays guitar, but not very well). That band never started but a friend of mine picked up guitar about 2 months after I picked up the bass and we decided to start a band. We bought a drum kit a week or two ago and now my sister is learning drums so she can be the drummer (kind of ironic, huh? She's actually progressing quite well and gets the hang of things quickly). And after searching for a singer we've decided that the guitarist will sing (we decided this literally a day or two ago). ... So that's my situation I use a Ibanez GSR200 and an old Peavey TNT 115 combo that I bought off here (I love being the one who can turn up the loudest ). I also bought a Korg AX3000B multi effects unit from here too but I found that it's not for me, so I'm selling it. I'm also incredibly prone to getting huge amounts of GAS... Luckily I don't like spending money otherwise I'd have loads of junk but no money ...So that's me! See you around
19. SOLD I bought this a few months ago off here only a few months ago, and it's great! ...Too bad I don't use it anymore, not even for tuning Loads of effects and tweakability here. Shame, but I mostly like a my sound dry and as I don't use it I might as well sell it and spend the money on something that I will use! Pics: It doesn't come with a manual but it can be downloaded here: http://www.korg.co.uk/products/effects/ax3.../fx_ax3000b.asp I paid £110 including postage for this so I'd like most of my money back ...Or all if anyone is kind enough Just give me an offer I guess! I'll also consider trades for pedals if they spark my interest.
20. I bought a Korg AX3000B. Great guy to deal with, Korg came as described, well packaged and on time Thanks Myke!
