1.
Everything has been said. However , you may want to get the seller extradited over here to face trial for selling shoddy goods,)
I like your thinking
 2.
Send it to me and I'll sort it for you, just cover the postage
Wow, thanks Paul thats a great offer, will get a PM over to you
I love this place!
You are not wrong
 3.
Well as 'the law' seems to be weighted in the favour of the US at any given time in this country, I don't reckon you're going to get anywhere down that route. Reading through the details of the fault - if there was a 'complex' fault then swapping batteries out and then replacing the old ones would make no difference. Obviously this can only be a 'best guess', but I reckon that you had a poor connection between the battery carrier and the preamp and swapping the batteries out 'nudged' the connection back into position. I reckon that poor connection has now completely failed and there's a wire dangling loose in there.
I reckon your right, although there are only two wires there and they both "appear" to be sound.
 4.
Not an authority on issues like this but would personally think that buying from abroad is a risk for this reason. If it were me I'd be miffed but accept that it was my risk in a kind of "you win some you lose some" type way. Would be interested to know the legal side tho.
That was my thinking to be honest, chalk it down to experience, but as you say it would be interesting to know the legal position on this.
 5. Hello, I purchased a Kala Sub Ubass from an eBay seller in the States just before Christmas, when it arrived I couldn't get any output from the bass, I informed the seller about this. I managed to resolve the issue by taking out the batteries, putting a new set in and then putting the original set back in, I figured the batteries hadn't been inserted correctly originally. Anyway after a month in its gigbag I got the bass out this week only to find that I have the same problem, no output. I have tried reseating the batteries, I even bought a new set, but neither worked. I sent an eBay msg off to the seller and got this response:
I'm sorry to hear that the ubass is having problems. I have sold many of these and have never heard of that issue with them before. It sounds like it may be a wiring issue inside the instrument between the battery and the pickup. Unfortunately it is not under warranty though since I am not an "authorized dealer" for the manufacturer. I would recommend taking it to a local shop there and having a professional take a look at the issue. Sorry for the trouble.
Is that a valid response, should I take it to a local shop for repair? If the purchase had been made from somebody in this country I would have expected to be able to get an exchange, I figure I may not have the opportunity as the seller is in the States?
 6. Evening All, Just prior to Christmas last year I ordered and received a Kala Sub UBass from the States via eBay, when I got it initially there was no audible output from the bass, just silence. I swapped the batteries out and got it to work, put the old batteries in and it still worked so good news. After a few weeks I put it down and didnt touch it again until this week and got the same problem again, no audible output. I got new batteries swapped in but still no output. The only time I hear anything is when I get a slight crackle from turning the volume/tone knobs or when I put my finger on the battery and hear an electrical hum. With the half a story I have provided does anybody know how I can proceed with repairing this? With the expense and logistics involved in sending it back to the shop in the States I think I would be better served trying to fix it here either through a shop or by myself. Camera is currently charging, photo's of the bass innards will be with you shortly. Thanks
 7. Thanks for the input, I appreciate what you are saying Marvin, hope to get the DB out to an almost local luthier to give it a once over, who will hopefully give the DB a relatively clean bill of health.
 8.
Why not return it and get a 3/4? Then you're in up to your neck,
I know, thats what I am afraid of! There is an update to this, I have got an improved refund of £75, meaning the DB and broken case cost £150. I will look to stick the case back on the 'bay and be thankful to whoever takes the case off my hands. and hopefully reduce the outlay still further.
 9. No not at all, I am 6ft high and 6ft wide so it doesnt need to be a smaller scale. It just seemed to be the right price for me to "dip my toe in to DB's" and I have enjoyed playing it.
 10. Hello, I mentioned a couple of weeks ago that I purchased this on eBay. Since then I have spent a little amount of time every day just trying to acquaint myself with the ways of the DB. However following a previous thread I started regards the need for a double bass case, I noticed that the case was damaged, a neck velcro restraint is loose. Having spoken with G4M they have offered me a partial refund of £50 or a full refund and return. Should I take this as an opportunity to return the bass and case, and save money for a better DB or keep what I have and try to and sell the case on to further reduce the outlay. I am on the fence, a DB for approx. £150-£175 cant be bad, can it? Thanks
 11. Selling my Boss Micro BR - 80, it is complete with all packaging, paperwork, manuals and accessories. Ignore the fact it has been opened (carefully) and it is in mint condition. I bought in October last year and it has not been used since Christmas, even then it was used at work and at home only, perhaps had a couple of hours use at most. The batteries, usb cable and Sonar LE disc that came with are all untouched. I have included the original invoice from Absolute Music. I will make sure the device is fully factory reset prior to dispatch. I am looking for £140 delivered for this The info from the Boss website: MICRO BR® BR-80: Digital Recorder
Plug into the Ultimate Micro Studio Small enough to fit in your pocket, the BOSS MICRO BR BR-80 is the ultimate new portable recording and jam-along tool for guitarists and other musicians. It’s equipped with three modes to create, record, and perform your music: an eight-track MTR (Multi-Track Recorder) mode; an eBand mode for onstage backing tracks and phrase training; and a Live Rec mode for instantly capturing high-quality stereo recordings. You can even combine the three modes seamlessly. Record your phrase ideas using Live Rec mode, for example, and then import the recordings into MTR mode to use as foundations for song production. Once you’ve added tracks, import your finished songs into eBand mode for backing-track accompaniment at the gig. The MICRO BR BR-80 is truly a must-have for all musicians!

Three modes: MTR (multi-track recorder), eBand, and Live Rec
Records directly to SD/SDHC memory card (up to 32 GB)
High-quality stereo condenser microphone built in for instant audio capture
64 V-Tracks and eight simultaneous playback tracks
eBand function for phrase training and play-along tracks
Huge library of built-in backing and rhythm patterns
World-class COSM® amps and effects onboard
Use as a USB audio interface with built-in effects
SONAR X1 LE software included
12. Any more reviews to come for this? I sold the GT10B because it was too much for me, would this unit suffice for a bit of compression and or auto-wah? Cheers
 13. Thanks for the advice, I think I was leaning toward selling the case anyway but you have all confirmed that it would be the right thing to do.
 14. Hello, Just wanted to ask who owns a case for their double bass? I got hold of a G4M 1/2 size DB last week, I am just dabbling at the moment to see if its for me, but the size of the hard case is becoming a problem as I have nowhere to put it, its currently looming large behind the stairs. I am unlikely to be getting lessons anytime soon so it wont be sat in the case for the foreseeable future. Do you all think it would be a bad move to sale the case on?
 15. Faiz bought my Boss GT10B pedalboard and flight case, it was his first purchase on basschat and everything went extremely well. Faiz paid promptly and was quick to respond to PM's, he was also quick to confirm safe receipt of the items. I would be more than happy to deal with Faiz again.
 16. It arrived today, I knew a 1/2 size double bass was never going to be the size of a violin but its still huge, never mind the case it came in. Looks to be in fairly good condition, apart from the bow, but it is a display model. My young son has just gone down for his afternoon nap so hope to be able to get the bridge set-up correctly and the bass tuned, then back on to the net to look for a good double bass set-up expert, wish me luck.
 17. Shaun bought my Line6 110 Studio, paid by bank transfer straight away and was very easy to deal with despite the pain of City Link only managing to pick the combo up from me on the third occasion. More than happy to deal with him again (want to buy an Ashdown LB112? )
 18.
I hope you didn't heckle him for being late......!
I thought about it, wasn't a bad show really, although not as good as when I have seen him in the past.
Well, you gets what you pays for with £18 strings
That's a fair point, I guess the G4M's will do until I decide whether or not the DB is for me.
 19.
I've never played one of those that was set up properly but I would assume that with a decent setup it should be a serviceable bass. Expect to spend another £200 or so on a setup and playable strings (the ones they ship with are terrible).
See what you means on strings, just googled 1/2 size double bass strings and noted that G4M's own brand was £18 where as the typical market price was approx. £118. I guess the G4M strings will suffice initially or are they that bad?
 20. Old thread resurrection alert! I pulled the trigger on this last night. I blame Billy Connolly, I was in the theatre waiting for him to come on stage, if he had arrive on time, 8pm, I would never have bought this at 8:05pm. This will be my first DB, is it a worthwhile purchase at this price, have I done right or have I done wrong?
