1.
Nice one. Heh, heh. You say that now...
Yeah I reckon I'll be gassless because I was after a 2x12" recently and Alex will actually leave out the crossover so I can use my GK bi-amping and get the full power out of it All 130dB of it
2. Here you go mate http://www.auroraproject.co.uk/glow%20guards.htm
3. I'll be very much bringing it to the bash Tom. Once I get the cab I'll post my findings on here
4. Well the circuit in the school should be capable of handling loads of stuff and have overload protection on it so I think we're safe on this side
5. I think they are all capable of being changed to any voltage, here's a pic of back of mine from UK
6. Well the postman has delivered the last piece of puzzle recently Full, fat and round 775W of pure madness, this rig is absolutely OTT with volume but it's the killer with sound. Anyone coming to London Bass Bash next Sunday will be able to hear/play this rig
7. Wayne I reckon you should get a custom plate with LEDs in it for aurora project. It would look cool
8.
What a great looking pedal! How did u do the top graphics? How does it sound?
I'll second that, howdid you managed to do those graphics? They look sick man! Interested in doing few for some monies
9.
Okay, slightly different line of questions. What do people use for their lettering if they want it to look professional? I don't really like the look of the shiny bit you get around waterslide transfers, and I only want to put some words onto a finish, not print off a whole top with graphics and everything. Silk screening would be ace, but I think a bit expensive for a one off.
Well you can etch your lettering on for which there are some good tutorials, you can find someone with a CNC machine and they can do it fo you, you can paint the lettering with stencils and cover with matt clearcoat, there's loads of options really, it's when you want those flashy graphics it gets a bit tricky
10. I think that Korg is probably concius that people are moving towards stomp tuner like the polytune etc which are less expensive and work for people who don't use racking for their gear! It makes little sense to me as well because they were the middle step between the likes of Boss on the lower bar and Petersons on the higher end! Apparently Korg has no stock left of them so what is in the shops is what people will get!
11. Right, with the strings I wouldn't use Daddarios personally, try DR or Elixirs for brightness! By spanking I mean loose which is down to lower tuning as you can hear a lot of fret buzz which in this instance works really well! Yes scooping out the mids is cutting them out, it's the sound that many on here call "bedroom sound" and it doesn't always works in live situation, however his sound is strikingly similar to that of Alex Webster from Cannibal Corpse which in my opinion is the best sounding metal bassist out there! With compression I think he might have some but I'm no expert on compressors since I don't use them that much! One thing I can suggest is also fiddling around with your pickups using your balance pot, try the neck on it's own first and very slowly add the bridge pickup, it might help getting this tone! I really like this sound and I hope you can achieve it as well! Cheers Jack
12. yeah it was DI'd but using what software for the recording ? He has added some reverb/echo to it so ask him all the details, to me it sounds like the mids are scooped quite a bit and defo a brand spanking new set of strings.
13. I just looked at gator racks and they have 37.47cm internal depth, my gear without any cables measured from the front lid to the back is 28cm so 10cm should be fine for cables ?
14. Me, not playing bass in Brighton
15. Hi Chaps, I'm wondering about getting a shallow rack case for my gear because the current one I have is quite big and the weight isn't ditributed evenly and it annoys me. At the moment my gear fills up about half of the depth of the standard rack case so would I be safe to get a shallow one ? Here's a pic to show you how much space I have currently left So will I be ok to get a shallow rack ? Cheers Jack
16. Hello chaps, Just a heads up that apparently Korg have discontinued these tunersso watch for some bargains to be had as always with discontinued gear. Cheers Jack
17.
Just finished putting together my Small Clone and it sounds like I have the same issue, no depth at all to the Chorus. i can't tell if its on or off. I will check trim pot first and see how we go. Did u mod yours at all or left as stock circuit? Anything need doing to make it better for bass?
I've done all the mods that were listed on the layout pdf plus I've changed the output cap to 2,2uF due to a lack of 1uF. Have a fidle with your trim pot because when I was adjusting it I found that it alters the sound a lot on mine.
18. As someone said above, get the songwriter to record stuff for you and then listen to it repeatedly and try to come up with the bassline in your head and if you know what you want to play then you achieved 50% and now it's time to work out how to play it! In heavy stuff the bass shouldn't be too busy if the guitars are doing a lot of riff shredding and you can easily get away with just simple bass lines! Listen to some trash metal and see how the guys there do it and you'll be surprised how easy some of it is. Whatever you do have loads of fun because once you get to that time when you nail a song on the practice it feels really good
19.
cool, any ideas where i could ick one up?
You can pick one up from here bitsbox.co.uk ! You'll need some DIY skills and basic "know how" of electronics and it shouldn't take long!
20.
What bass would I be doing it on mate?
A P/J dinky from Warmoth
21. Dear Auntie, Why have I come here over a year ago with a question about my effect and £4000 pounds later I still have no answer! Yours Jack
22. you can always whack a momentary switch on the foot rest so when your foot is on the pedal it's on and off when you take your foot off! Should be simple to do and cost about £10!
