1. I have been playing 5 string exclusively for the past year and do not even own a four anymore (suppose I do now). last weekend i played a Geddy Lee and it blew me away. The build quality and feel of 4 string jazz neck just sent me off with a mad GAS attack and I just knew i needed to get a Jap Jazz of some kind. I cannot wait to give this a good workout and i will defo be taking some pictures with my others to go into the gear porn section.
2. I think I can now say....its mine. Best looking Jazz ever IMHO. Ruairidh has been ace in getting this deal sorted out, top man. Thanks again, Nathan
3. Hello, I have a pretty much brand new Korg DT-10 tuner pedal for sale. I bought it about 3 weeks ago and it has barely been used. I bought it for tuning during gigs but forgot it last gig we did and then the band folded so no need for it now. Its a superb tuner and I find it so much better than my (ex) guitarists boss tuner. It also comes with the multi voltage adapter with adapters to fit other pedals which cost me £15 on top. Up until about 3 days ago I had the box and bubble wrap but I threw it away without realising. I do have the instructions though. Strings Direct have these up for £74.95 at the moment, I am after £60 with power supply. NOW SOLD! Also Got a Guitar Man volume pedal. It sbeen used but not abused. It does what it says on the tin, it works and controls volume. Sturdy enough for my needs for the past year and a bit but I go straight in to my amp now so no need for it. I am after £15 I have iboth up for sale with some odd bits in the "other musically related stuff" section but noticed this kind of stuff in here too, so thought I would link to it. Apologies if this is not allowed (mods, please excuse me and delete if not allowed) Link: http://basschat.co.uk/index.php?showtopic=54533 Open to some haggling too.

5. Got to say I would not go for an american standard unless you get a good deal secondhand. Personally I would go for a Jap Fender Jazz. I played a Geddy Lee at the weekend and it was unbelievably good, and was lacking in no way compared to american fenders. I also tried the new Mexican 70s Jazzes and again was very impressed and they look so good with the binding. Also worth a mention is the Marcus Miller. Its not everyones cup of tea aesthetically but again an awesome bass and you can get them very cheap secondhand.
6. Thanks for the PM, all sounds fine and I may be in touch soon. thanks, Nathan
7. Hello, My band has just folded (friday) and as such i am completely rethinking my setup. I do not really have a huge need for an amp anymore so am thinking about selling it and my current main bass and getting something really fancy with the proceeds. I love the look of sadowsky and think one would be a sound investment but just wondering how the necks are finished? I have been trying to find out but I must be a little slow because I cant find info anywhere. Are they gloss or more of a MusicMan feel? I will of course be playing a few before I buy anything but I was just curious as I am not the biggest fan of satin finish. Cheers, Nathan
8. Hello, Might be looking for a change soon and have always wanted a musicman 5. Just curious about the £150 spent on neck refretting etc. It looks like quite a new bass and I have not heard of these needing a refret or dress at a young age. I dont mean to imply anything just curious if it was major work for some reason or just a thorough set up? Thanks, Nathan
9. Hello, Really interesting this thread as I played a Geddy Lee for the first time today. Simply put, it was absolutely fantastic! I was actually smiling and laughing with shear joy as I played it the store guy thought I was mad. The neck is unbelievebly slim and quick and has a lovely burpy growlu=y jazz tone. I loved it so much I am currently hunting around for one myself. I played a Marcus some time ago so tough to compare but from what I remeber it was also a stunning bass that made a big impression on me. I have to say I was not overly fussed with the pre in the MM and didnt find it that versatile (it was a long time ago) but still sounded great if that makes sense. Anyway yes go for a Geddy...they are awesome and I know what the fuss is about now.
10. Hi, Judging by your location i will assume you tried the one in the Newcastle store which is the one I was sent. I noticed the noise (rattled at higher volume). basically i think the amp had taken a knock (back top corner was slightly caved in) and this knock I think had loosened the whole casing on the combo. the horizontal board that seperates the head from the speaker was not joined tightly to the rest of the case and was coming apart. It was causing a rattle and was I think reducing the amount of bass being produced (A/B against my Ashdown 4x8 and it was nowhere near the level of bass) I got my girlfriend to squeeze the cab together to tighten the joint and it sounded fine but I didnt want it in that condition even if it was only £400. Guitar Guitar were amazing about it though, no worries they took it back without a worry and I explained the problem I had with it. To be fair it was only noticeabloe because i was really looking for faults, I doubt the guys in the store had even picked up on it. I will definetaly be buying from tehm again, great customer service so far. I was thinking about a Eden 1x10 they had for sale but it wont be powerful enough for my needs so I will be getting a refund and looking around teh forum for something portable.
What was wrong with the amp? I played this one in the shop but didn't buy because it was very noisy when I turned master right up. I ended up buying the Workingmans 2x10C combo from them instead. GuitarGuitar have always treated me right, it's why I keep going back.
11. You have both confrimed my thoughts, I think I just needed to hear it from someone else. Its a nice looking thing but I need more power and more than a 1x10. I am curently pestering a few folk on here about some gear so think I will leave it for now. Cheers for your help, this is why i love coming on here. Many thanks, Nathan
12. Hey all, I have been offered a eden CXC110 combo for £600 should be around £750 normally supposedly. I cannot play this amp as it is some way away but have the option to send it back if I am not 100% satisfied but just wondered if anyone had any experience with this combo. The situation is I want something different and smaller than my current Ashdown ABM300 and ABM 4x8 cab. I have always read great things about eden and have always wanted one but do not have the budget for the big stuff. I was thinking about pairing this with a Eden 2x10 or aguilar 112 for bigger stuff and on its own for practice although from what I have heard it does alright on its own with a band in a medium venue. I play five string in a rock band but we usually have PA support live and only play smaller venues. I was just wondering what other folk would do? worth a stab? It is not the brand new series it is the older discontinued model but is new old stock hence the price I guess. Here is a pic: Comments/advice/suggestions welcomed. Cheers Nathan

SOLD.

PM'd regarding MarkBass Thanks, Nathan
14. Well its a bit later on and the result......... It didn't work out. Unfortunately there was a fault with the amp so it went back today an i am getting a refund. From what I heard from limited playing itdid sound like an awesome amp if not a little on the HUGE side of things. I have made enquiries about a Eden combo but have not heard back yet. Just for the record though I would like to say what a pleasure it has been to deal with Guitar Guitar so far. Mark their online sales chap has been so much help and more than friendly. They even paid to have the amp sent back to Newcastle which is more than I can say for some companies. So I am back to the drawing board now. Once my refund comes through I will be looking around and trawling the sales threads for a new setup. At the moment I am really fancying a MarkBass Head with some Aguilar 112 Cabs, but we shall see, I change my mind so often.
15. I just want to say that i find it really sad that Janek feels he is not welcome on this forum and is not amongst friends. He is a superb bass player and seems like a very genuine chap and I think he could have contributed a lot. On the fodera issue: A lot of people bang on about their vintage fenders that cost thousands and no one seems to bother about it at all but as soon as someone says something positive about a Fodera is it right that they should be chased out of town by locals with pitch forks and burning torches. As far as BGM goes, last issue was superb, I loved the article on Christian McBride and Janek, and found the article on session musicians really interesting. I love the magazine anyway but really felt they lifted the bar with this issue, WELL DONE BGM, I will be subscribing again.
16. Hey all, Just to say had a wicked gig on friday at the buffalo bar, if anyone fancies a bit of music tonight please come and say hello at the Barfly, 4 bands £5 bargain. Cheers.
17. Brilliant, that is what i wanted to hear. Nearly everything i had read about the black beauty says "good rock sound" to paraphrase slightly, which is what i want. I found my Roscoe Beck sounds big and rocky so I really want a big 15" that will push some air and make that low B sound big! I really cannot wait until tomorrow, gig tonight, amp tomorrow and possibly new amp with gig on sunday, what a weekend. Cheers, Nathan
I tried out a Black Beauty a good few years ago with the Roscoe Beck 5 I had at the time- it sounded brilliant through it! Sadly I had neither the cash to afford it, nor the desire to lift it up 6 flights of stairs to my old student digs... You'll be made up with this when you plug in!
18. Hmmmm thanks for that I will keep an eye on the tracking. I have paid a little extra (next working day was free this week) for Saturday delivery so hopefully it should be here, if not i will be having words! Anyway fingers crossed, if it all works out ok I will definately buy from them again, great prices on the website and they do some nice high end stuff. Cheers, Nathan
19. Yeah thats right, it was from guitar guitar. Spoke to a chap called Mark who was great gave me loads of info and said any problems just give him a call. Got to say so far the service is amazing, especially compared to some other big shops. They also have a baby blue for silly money and a really nice Eden at a top price. Looking forward to seeing what arrives anyway, hopefully it will do what i want and then sadly my Ashdown head and cab will be going, but hey dont need two amps.
Was that from guitarguitar or something? I remember seeing on their website they had 3 of them or something, and a bunch of other stuff for okay deals.
20. Hello, Don't know why I am posting this but maybe someone will be interested. I just bought a ex demo SWR Black Beauty for £399. Now this seems like a bargain to me but I am living dangerously as I have neither played this combo before or actually seen the one I am getting. Luckily I have 7 days to send it back, Its been fully tested and I have 1 years warranty as well. I know SWR stuff and I like it, plus I want something neat with a 15" speaker for a deeper rock sound so it seemed the ideal solution. I will however not say too much as it could be a dog and could be going back but here's hoping it works out. Its next day delivery so i will soon find out when it hopefully arrives safe and sound tomorrow. So anyone out there got one of these? I read up a bit and it sounds exactly what I am after but be interested to hear anyone's opinions and what I should expect. Thanks, Nathan
