i've got the aguilar tonehammer which will fill your criteria, though will run on 2 9v batteries not 1. great aguilar tone and you can easily pick one up for less than £200.

the main point people still buy expensive boutque pedals is the fact that they don't just use standard components, i think ZVex in particular may make their own transistors (correct me if i'm wrong). because of this you will never actually get the same tone, pretty close but not the same. cloning is good fun, but unless your good or using a really simple pedal it can be infuriating, my scramble clone took an age to get right, most of the time it was just a volume pedal that could ick up radio!

my thoughts as well with the lights but was wandering if anyone had actually used it. one of the vids has a set up with a lamp but if you're going to do that you may as well jst get an expression pedal.

i have just stumbled upon the devi ever peep photo expression pedal thing, looks cool and there some noisey toys that may work very well with it. has anyone else had a play and does it actually work as well as the various vids say it does? oh and the slim maplin connectors are fine for normal guitar cable - my guitarist uses them on his board, i think they may be more space saving than george l's too. you need a soldering iron though.

this place is cheaper than maplins for sockets though they don't do those really slim ones, good for cable too i think. EDIT: cable cheap but only in 100m rolls, though 100m for £12 is amazing.

Right the EB-0 has been lying around half done for a good month now, which is at least a month too long, and i need to finish it off. I have been looking at getting hold of a DiMarzio model 1 but it's quite hard to find one. Also i have recently considered a Darkstar pickup for that vintagey tone. Anyone got any sort of clue where i can find one of these? I could resort to asking Bass Centre to source me them though i have found that ordering specific things through a shop as being a little more expensive than just finding one for sale. Does anyone know where i can find these? Thoman did have the model 1 in stock for a bit but not now, and also that shop looks dodgy and there are many stories of woe about their customer service. Any pointers will be great, also if theres another pickup that i have neglected that can do a similar sound (i know these 2 aren't that similar but they are both passive high impedance monsters) let me know.
