  1. Welcome Rover, Good to hear that you’re making progress with your playing & that you’re enjoying the lessons. Keep up the good work
  2. Hi Alan. Welcome, it’s a long road, just keep at it….
  3. Agreed, very sad news to hear what has happened to Juan. I loved his playing in Racer X
  4. Yeah, I did see that earlier this morning. I found it very interesting, not only from a specification point of view, but also of a visual point of view too.
  5. Made a purchase from Pete. I messaged him whilst I was out of the country asking him to hold the product, until my return. His communication was excellent, he always responded quickly to my questions & he agreed to hold it for me. A few days before my return, I completed the payment & gave him my expected return date. Within a few hours, he sent me pics of the item, packaged & ready for despatch. I received the delivery this morning. It was expertly packaged, this was not going to get damaged in any way, shape at all. I couldn’t have wished for a smoother transaction. Thanks for your excellent communication, expert packaging & for keeping hold of this item for me. Cheers Bernie
  6. What do you mean! You don’t need 3 !!! The more, the merrier 😜
  7. Congrats on the win. A nice looking bass there. No doubt a lovely surprise when you got home.
  8. That my good Sir is a very good idea.
  9. Funny you saying that. The preamp on mine has been swapped out for a Sadowsky one with the vtc. I brought it with the mod done, but I do have the original pre amp. I also own a 5 deluxe too.
  10. I was looking at this, luckily I now have the 5 string version. Yes, a great bass with a lovely feel to it.
  11. I live near Villa Park, it’s an approx 20min walk to the venue. I’ll be avoiding the area at all costs. I was lucky enough to get to attend the Final “The End “ Show in 2017. That was it as far as I was concerned
  12. My case of choice too, if I’ve brought a bass, that doesn’t come with a case.
  13. Wow !!!!! It is indeed a very sad loss to the British Music Industry, if this is all correct.
  14. Yeah! I remember the Wilkes basses from the early days, where a lot of their basses had percussive plates on the last few frets to help with the slap technique.
  15. Ahhhhh! Indeed it is ……
  16. I was lucky enough to buy Julian’s ( Soulman ) Fender Jazz V Elite Yesterday. It was great to meet him to do the handover. The bass was everything as described & in a virtually brand new condition. It was a pleasure to meet him. Don’t hesitate to buy if he’s offering anything for sale or trade with him. Thanks again Bernie
  17. My next gig will be going to see Michael Schenker @ kk’s steel mill on the 8th May. On his “My years with UFO” tour
  18. Ooh !!! What is the weight of this please ?
  19. Happy Birthday. Have a great day with family & friends
  20. I would class myself as being brand loyal. I’ve owned Swr bass cabs, for the last 25 + years. At one point I used to own 4 x 2x10 goliath juniors, but now I’m down to two. Just love the bottom end punch & the famous Swr sizzle at the top end. It’s a sound that I’m used to, especially when playing live, the sound just cuts through. Used to own their amps too, but these have been moved on.
  21. I must confess that I have always had a Fender type bass in my arsenal. Whether it was my 80’s jazz bass special or my customised Squire 4 string, fitted with a badass bridge, Emg preamp & pickups. I’m also fortunate to be the owner of a Jazz V deluxe & an Elite V too. There has been an upgrade path over the years, namely the improved pickups, the aforementioned musicman styled truss rod adjuster at the bottom of the neck, plus a little lighter in weight compared to my Deluxe. I been looking into the Ultra II model & although I was disappointed to see that they’ve reverted back to the method of positioning of how you adjust truss rod, I do like the new high mass bridge, especially as it now gives the option to string through the body, or bridge. The S1 active \ passive switching has been brought back in, for those who remember the mid nineties series of Fenders & the new mid boost frequency between 325hz or 750hz is another new thing. Along with the luminay side dots & tusq nut. So slight additions have been made. I’m guessing just like any type of manufacturing, raw materials & labour charges are ever increasing
