  1. What do you mean! You don’t need 3 !!! The more, the merrier 😜
  2. Congrats on the win. A nice looking bass there. No doubt a lovely surprise when you got home.
  3. That my good Sir is a very good idea.
  4. Funny you saying that. The preamp on mine has been swapped out for a Sadowsky one with the vtc. I brought it with the mod done, but I do have the original pre amp. I also own a 5 deluxe too.
  5. I was looking at this, luckily I now have the 5 string version. Yes, a great bass with a lovely feel to it.
  6. I live near Villa Park, it’s an approx 20min walk to the venue. I’ll be avoiding the area at all costs. I was lucky enough to get to attend the Final “The End “ Show in 2017. That was it as far as I was concerned
  7. My case of choice too, if I’ve brought a bass, that doesn’t come with a case.
  8. Wow !!!!! It is indeed a very sad loss to the British Music Industry, if this is all correct.
  9. Yeah! I remember the Wilkes basses from the early days, where a lot of their basses had percussive plates on the last few frets to help with the slap technique.
  10. Ahhhhh! Indeed it is ……
  11. I was lucky enough to buy Julian’s ( Soulman ) Fender Jazz V Elite Yesterday. It was great to meet him to do the handover. The bass was everything as described & in a virtually brand new condition. It was a pleasure to meet him. Don’t hesitate to buy if he’s offering anything for sale or trade with him. Thanks again Bernie
  12. My next gig will be going to see Michael Schenker @ kk’s steel mill on the 8th May. On his “My years with UFO” tour
  13. Ooh !!! What is the weight of this please ?
  14. Happy Birthday. Have a great day with family & friends
  15. I would class myself as being brand loyal. I’ve owned Swr bass cabs, for the last 25 + years. At one point I used to own 4 x 2x10 goliath juniors, but now I’m down to two. Just love the bottom end punch & the famous Swr sizzle at the top end. It’s a sound that I’m used to, especially when playing live, the sound just cuts through. Used to own their amps too, but these have been moved on.
  16. I must confess that I have always had a Fender type bass in my arsenal. Whether it was my 80’s jazz bass special or my customised Squire 4 string, fitted with a badass bridge, Emg preamp & pickups. I’m also fortunate to be the owner of a Jazz V deluxe & an Elite V too. There has been an upgrade path over the years, namely the improved pickups, the aforementioned musicman styled truss rod adjuster at the bottom of the neck, plus a little lighter in weight compared to my Deluxe. I been looking into the Ultra II model & although I was disappointed to see that they’ve reverted back to the method of positioning of how you adjust truss rod, I do like the new high mass bridge, especially as it now gives the option to string through the body, or bridge. The S1 active \ passive switching has been brought back in, for those who remember the mid nineties series of Fenders & the new mid boost frequency between 325hz or 750hz is another new thing. Along with the luminay side dots & tusq nut. So slight additions have been made. I’m guessing just like any type of manufacturing, raw materials & labour charges are ever increasing
  17. From my very limited experience on this type of scenario. If the retailer does charge vat on the purchase, you should be able to request a tax form from them. So that you can claim the tax back, when it reaches the country, of where the item will eventually reside. Some retailers will fill the form in for you on purchase, others won’t mention it. If that is the case you should be able to request the appropriate form. Of course you must mention at the time of the enquiry / purchase
  18. Unfortunately I haven’t played the Indonesian version. But from what I understand / have read, but I believe the main differences are, is that it has a different type of body wood. I’m not sure what it is, but it’s slightly heavier in weight.
  19. Welcome back
  20. Mine is a Korean made one, it’s very light in weight, has a low action, stays in tune. Has a killer B string. It can be strung through the body or the bridge. This will be a cracker of a bass for someone, ( especially at the new price) looking for 1st 5 string bass.
  21. I’m not entirely sure if I’m going to attend. As I’ll be away on my hols. I do return on the night of the 1st March. If I’m not working on the 2nd, I’ll put in an appearance.
