  1. *spits coffee all over computer screen...
  2. Seems as though the job is about to put me back in hotel rooms for a spell. Pre-covid I traveled a lot, not so much now. Last week I sat in my hotel room in Dallas and pined for my Jazz bass. I want to take it with me, but what a hassle. Also, surely the baggage handlers at the airports will beat up my pristine 7ender case. SO! I have searched a bit and it seems there are 2 players in the little 'portable' basses. Has anyone owned any of these tots? https://www.ebay.com/itm/234063933201?hash=item367f4c2f11:g:UYcAAOSwWK1g1Qnd https://www.ebay.com/itm/114921110687?epid=22044005806&hash=item1ac1d4fc9f:g:m1sAAOSwBh5hCrS9 https://www.ebay.com/itm/284382475942?_trkparms=aid%3D111001%26algo%3DREC.SEED%26ao%3D1%26asc%3D20160811114145%26meid%3D744ece6a3a044f869bc861580273d493%26pid%3D100667%26rk%3D2%26rkt%3D8%26sd%3D234063933201%26itm%3D284382475942%26pmt%3D1%26noa%3D1%26pg%3D2334524%26brand%3DTraveler&_trksid=p2334524.c100667.m2042
  3. Thanks man! He beats the hell out of that thing.
  4. What kind of bass is this guy beating the crap out of?
  5. Sounds like knocking on this chap's door and retrieving your MIJ Jazz is the cheapest and most sensible option.
  6. Ah ha. Thanks, and I found the source of my confuzzlement. "Replacement stainless steel saddle inserts (available here) emphasize overtones and treble frequencies" I wonder what color they are? By the description, I would lean toward the brass, my Jazz is plenty bright without any help. https://hipshotproducts.com/products/kickass-saddle-inserts?variant=44034405704
  7. Yessir, you're right. I'm talking myself into the Gotoh, shhh.
  8. In my quest for total bass blackness I am ready to store the shiny 7ender Badass copy with Geddy on it for either a black Gotoh or Hipshot. All of my headstock hardware is black Hipshot. Their black Kickass has a strike against it as the saddles are painted an ugly brass color. I have worked for a giant Japanese electronics corporation for a long time and appreciate Japanese craftsmanship. Has anyone ever had a negative experience with Gotoh? https://www.ebay.com/itm/291787682814 https://www.ebay.com/itm/143545686712
  9. It isn't a proper music shop. It is a pawn shop, also known as a hock shop. The place that you take your friend's Corvette when you spent all your money on drugs and they give you a tenth of its value. If I sound bitter it is because a friend turned junkie stole my bass and hocked it back in the early nineties. I never found it so me must have taken it across Atlanta where I wouldn't find it.
  10. I was afraid of this. I tried to reason with the chap, I said I'd like to get it set up, and if it comes back good I will pay for the setup and his asking price, I have a new bass! He declined. He wants to sell it as is no warranty, no responsibility. The bass has been there for at least 3 months. Looking like everyone(anyone) who has seen it has shied away. He is asking 900 dollars for it. I forgot to grab the serial number---I guess one can determine the manufacture date from the serial number?
  11. A local pawn shop has a 4 string Corvette Bubinga for sale, and the neck is bowed as heck. Action is ridiculously high. I know nothing of these basses, are they prone to such like a mexican Geddy Lee, or is it just in need of a setup? I'd hate to buy it and the truss rod is maxxed out. TIA mates
  12. What is the symptom? High action? Neck bowed, or backbowed, or what? I'll wager the action is high.
  13. What is heavy? 10lbs? My Jazz is 9.8 and kills my shoulder.
  14. Made his Precision neck into a Jazz. Smart lad!
  15. I'm really glad you posted this. I haven't heard Lowdown in I don't even know how long. Great tune.
  16. Seriously? Nobody has heard of these basses? They look like incredible craftsmanship to me.
