It was on my list, but I think he doesn’t take order anymore unless I just couldn’t find the info

Am Std from 2011 get a lot of credit, I went straight for one when I found it second hand. I wouldn't be against going vintage, but I'd have to do a lot more background work to make sure I can spot any issues and as you say, they're very hit & miss and there is also a very interesting Mike Lull on sale here at the moment but it's literally a twin of mine in terms of looks

Very valid question, I have thought about Lakland, G&L, Sandberg and a few others. I started out with Fender due to some sort of internal bias but I may end up taking a trip to the Gallery and trying all the Ps they have to get a better feel

Thanks - I have one of these actually, American Standard from 2013, it's my go-to bass since I bought it. I was looking to add a second Precision, hence my idea of getting one that wouldn't require selling the one I have which sounds great

Right, I know there are several threads on the individual basses I’m looking at, but given the number of P-bass experts on this forum I wanted to get some views on a side by side comparison. I also know it's a very subjective choice but any advice is welcome. I am looking to get myself a vintage looking Fender P-bass. I already have a 2013 American standard in black / maple that gives me the P sound I need so I’m not in a rush and I’m really more doing this for the look / feel of a vintage instruments. The bass would probably replace a Road Worn Jazz bass that I’m not too convinced about. Some of the instruments I can only get online, so won’t have the chance to go to a shop and try them. The options I’m looking at are: Fender Japan PB RI62 US in 3TS – I found a PB62-75 US from a seller in France but I could hold on for a PB62-95 or a PB62-115 even if they seem to be rare Limelight Precision Bass – read great things about Limelight here and elsewhere and this would allow me to get a relicing and refinishing you only get from vintage or CS instruments These two should set me back roughly the same amount of money I think. Alternatively I could step up a bit and probably sell my current P to finance something more expensive. In that case I would look at Fender AVRI or Fender Original, similar concept to the Japanese one but American Fender CS, if something comes up at a decent price – there is one on sale here at the moment I believe My current thinking is that it’s not really worth paying twice as much money for a Fender CS given it wouldn’t be Custom from my perspective and I already have an American P, while the Japanese or the Limelight could be a good value for money to get the look I want and potentially a slightly different sound. Any advice from people who’ve played some / all of these? Thanks in advance!

Sorry, not entirely related to your sale, but extremely interesting for me to see such an instrument branded as a Harley Benton. The first bass I ever bought back in Italy, I think in 2002 or 2003, was a 4 strings bass identical to this one (but with a worse bridge). It was branded Jim Reed, which was supposed to be a small independent Italian luthier who was sourcing instruments in Asia. The electronics were terrible and eventually failed, but the bass was otherwise decent.. There is a similar one on sale here - https://www.mercatinomusicale.com/mm/a_jim-reed-basso-elettrico-jr-be-5_id6806222.html http://www.jimreed.it/eng/prodotti.php And that is the brand's website, they have changed the shape of the headstock now but mine was identical to this one. At the time they were doing a copy of the J-Bass, Stingray, Thumb and this one. GLWTS

I will probably come to regret this, but I am selling my Steinberger Spirit XZ-2 Bass. I owned one of these when I was a teenager, had a massive mid-life crisis a couple of years ago and I decided to track one down again. This bass comes from Italy and it's a really nice portable instrument, but unfortunately it doesn't get played at all and I have another Fender case on the way, so it's time to face reality and let someone else have it. The previous owner swapped the Select by EMG pick-ups with some active EMG humbuckers, which it is a noticeable improvement. The original pick-ups are included in the sale if the new owner fancies swapping them back or using them for a new build. I can't date the bass as I can't find a serial number, but these have been discontinued for a few years and are increasingly difficult to find. It has a few nicks and scuffs, which I hopefully managed to capture in the photos. This is a 34in scale and has a full body, not the classic Spirit broomstick shape, so a full size bass in guitar size. Weight is around 3.3kg according to the baby scale and it has a J neck profile (1.5in at the nut). It currently has some Elites DBE Series 40-100 Stainless Steel Double Ball End Bass Strings in decent shape. Price is £375 £350 , I priced it to reflect the pick-up upgrade but please do let me know if I'm off and I will listen to serious offers. It comes with a Spirit gig bag and I can include a Dunlop strap in the sale if needed. Collection from London preferred, or I can ship at additional cost. Any questions, please let me know.

Thanks, sorry I had thought about it then forgot to write it -
Just as a heads up to everyone. I bumped into an ad for a Warwick Thumb NT 5 on Marketplace and looking at the pictures I realised it’s the one I bought a month or so back. I messaged the buyer who recognises it too, he told me they took his ad word for word. Given the same person is also selling several vintage Fenders I thought I’d flag it, they could all be fake.

I’m glad it ended up in your hands, I’m sure you’ll take good care of it and I hope it serves you well. Having moved to his NT 5 strings sibling I am now realising how light and balanced it was! Happy Birthday!

Tom bought a bass strap from me, perfect communication and transaction. Thanks again

Ben bought my beloved Warwick Thumb in March. Communication was very easy, he turned up on time, checked the bass, paid on the spot and walked away with it. Very nice guy to deal with. Thanks a lot and enjoy the bass!

Chris bought some strap locks from me this week, very smooth transaction and really appreciated his gesture to pay a bit more than agreed as contribution to the cost of postage. Vince
