  1. I found myself in a very similar position last year. Eventually, given my knowledge of vintage instruments is not solid enough and I was worried about consistency I decided to spend roughly the same money I would have spent on a 70s Fender on two basses. I bought a used 2013 American Standard P bass that plays great and came with custom shop pickup as stock, and a Limelight ‘63 P bass that gives me the vintage feel in the exact finish and specs I wanted. I still find myself looking at 70’s Fender but I think this was a good compromise for me
  2. Does this come in flat-packs then? Can’t believe it’s still here, luckily I’m not in the UK anymore so can’t be tempted! GLWTS
  3. I can't change the ad but the bass and I have now moved to France, so trades / sales to the UK are only possible when I travel back
  4. Wasn’t the 60th anniversary series made in 2011, after the S1 switch period?
  5. Selling this Meinl 10inches Pandeiro as I’ve practically never used it. It comes with a Meinl soft bag that I bought separately. £50 collected from East London or can post for an extra £5. Sensible offers welcome.
  6. I tried to “register” this bass on the Fender website. It could be just stock photos but they think US18077829 is a maple neck. Otherwise unfortunately both serials bring up roughly the same instrument.
  7. No shortage of strap buttons on that one...
  8. Selling a spare Fender Precision 13 holes 3-ply (white/black/white) as I swapped it with a black one. This is the pickguard that was originally mounted on my American Standard P, it has the hole for easier access to truss-rod £30 delivered or collection in London for £25
  9. Back up for trade only, in case anyone owns at Thumb and would like to add a string to it...
  10. I had one in Firemist Silver, sold it on here a while ago. Great colour and very comfortable neck, I really liked the stack knobs giving you control on the volumes and tones of each pick-up. I sold it cause I am mainly playing Precisions now and I found the tone to be a bit thin compared to the P. Maybe @walplayer can tell you if it's done well for him
  11. Wow I'm not quite there yet! This is definitely taking the vintage tone while the American Standard will wear the bright and punchy hat, just need to transfer the LaBella on the Limelight and put roundwounds on the Fender. The charcoal grey one was on sale here just last week right?
  12. 4 months later, I can close the loop and thank everyone who chipped in with advice! Mark just sent the infamous wooden floor shots and all being well I’ll get to play this beauty this week.
  13. on a more serious note, we used this one for our wedding, we both found it right
  14. Yes, tried that initially but it doesn’t slide past the thicker bit. I can try to ram it through and force it perhaps
  15. Hi! I recently bought a set of D’Addario NYXL 45-130 for my 5 strings. The strings sound great but seem to be quite thick right from the ball end, at least compared to the previous sets I’ve used. They even get a touch thicker at the end, while I’d expect them to taper down. The B string in particular doesn’t quite get in the bridge slot. I really don’t want to go down the route of filing the bridge down or anything like that but am getting the impression that the tuning on that string is not as stable as on the others. Am I imagining things? If not, has anyone found a way to fix the issue other than get other strings or file the bridge? I’m relatively new to 5s so haven’t come across the issue before. Thanks in advance for any advice, including the one to stick to 4 strings as that’s all I need anyway 😁
  16. I bought a pedal from Matt. Very smooth communication and flexible delivery. The pedal itself is practically new, clearly very well taken care of and exactly as described. Deal with confidence!
  17. I have a Warwick NT5. The neck dive and weight are issues, but I don't find them severe enough to sell my bass (even though I would probably trade it for an equivalent 4 strings). I have strap locks and a neoprene comfort strap and that does it for me. Prices I've seen here and elsewhere for similar basses range between £1,500 and £1,800 so £940 is a good price. I think it's more an issue with BO than NT, but make sure the neck is not warped, it can happen with Warwick,

  19. The bass I was watching has now sold so I’m keeping this one after all.
  20. I am giving this another try, as much as I love this bass I prefer the strings spacing of my 4 strings and I don't use the B as much as I used to. I can sell outright or trade it with a Thumb NT4. This bass is from 2000, full specs below. In case of trade, open to cash either way depending on the year, condition etc Collection or meeting within reasonable distance, or I can ship at buyer's cost. GBP 1,600 or EUR 1,900 **I currently live in Paris, so can ship within the EU. **I also travel to London regularly, normally once a month, happy to take the bass with me for a possible UK sale. Specs from Warwick below, I upgraded the nut to a brass JAN3 and installed Schaller strap locks. 21. Pete just bought my Jazz Bass, he’s a great guy to deal with. Communication was smooth and to the point, he paid right away even if I needed a couple of days to sort out the shipping and was generally a very nice transaction.
  22. Selling my Ashdown Tourbus 15w amp. It’s a good small amp for home practice but I am moving abroad and it’s easier to replace it than to move it and rewire it. Collection preferred but I can also ship it if you bear with me while I check the cost and get hold of packaging.
