1. Most enjoyable to see the Blockheads last night, one of the tightest bands around, Norman Watt Roy is an incredible player, he holds the whole thing together with an incredible groove! I was around whilst they were setting up ready for sound check, listened to him jamming with the drummer, bloody hell, he's got some licks, a lot of really nice jazz styled improvisation. A great sound from his jazz through a TE rig Had a quick chat with him, thanked him for being one of the reasons I started playing bass back in '78, he seemed to really appreciate that and asked what where I was playing on the night, once he knew I was a bass player The sound man for our room was late (stuck in snow) so we were running late, should have been finished as the Blockheads started, but we were only 10 minutes in as they came on, so dropped a song and whizzed through the set just to get into the other room, good decision! Would liked to have seen the band with Ian Dury back in the day, but the guy up front does the job and it all seems to work! Graet band though! Tony
2. Good discussion this, I agree, would have been great to see Wobble and Levine with the band, but regardless of the line up, it was a good gig and a great sound. The guitarist was excellent, as was the drummer. Scott firth did a great job of holding down the bottom end in the absence of Mr Wobble. He played 4 and 5 string, not sure what, I couldn't see, he played through an Aguillar rig and played EUB on a few tracks and it sounded really good Tony
3. I'm in Monton, but nobody knows it! just next to worsley. about 5 minutes from Trafford centre The bags yours! Tony
4. Most of us in the band I play in were gonna go see the Blockheads, we were offered a support spot, so we had to take it Ended up we're in a different room, as our set finishes the Blockheads start Looking forward to it! It's at Moho BTW Tony
5. probably not as sound as his country life contract!
6. I've used this for years, but the zip has started to open slightly on one side at the bottom, so don't wanna risk a bass falling out. Easy fix, just needs some time to secure that area of the zip, it's the bit you never use anyway! Free pick up from manchester Gotta be worth a small donation in BC! Tony
7.
Do you mean PiL? Sorry but without Wobble or Levene, it's just a Lydon solo tour IMO.
Yes, I mean PiL It might be, but still a great show, good sound, good songs played by good musicians. I had a great night out last night if you're a fan, getting all anal about who's playing and then not going is a bit sad IMHO, a bit like not going cos he sells butter :-) He even thanked country life T

10. Yeah, there is a lot of variation in the finishes of these basses, this is one of the lighter cherries! Will try and get some natural light shots when I manage to be at home during day light hours, which ain't too easy these days! Tony

21. Great player! Like has been said before, if I want to be inspired on my fretless I will listen to Pino fisrt, without a doubt, not taking anything away from great players like Jaco, Mark egan etc, but Pino's stuff is just so relevant and accessible, even the mrs likes it cos he played on loads of stuff she used to buy. every time you watched the tube back in the day, Pino was on! Tony
22. Question! If you were putting something like an audere into an older bass and didn't want the nice n shiny like of a new plate and knobs on your old, mojo'd bass, how would you go about making the new bits, less new looking? Please don't say, leave them out in the garden for the next 30 years Tony
23. All pm's now replied to! If I missed one, it may have been due to me using iPhone most of he time over the weekend This bass is now sold pending ........... Thx tony
