On Thursday night we are playing as main support for Ocean Colour Scene as they play a small gig in Manchester prior to their UK tour This is sold out, but there maybe one or two tickets around that the other guys in the band didn't sell (poeple saying they wanted one and backing out at last minute) only a very slim chance they will be any, but worth giving me a shout We're playing our regular set with one track in the middle featuring both Steve Craddock and Aziz Ibrahim, so could turn into a bit of a guitar fest lol! I'll update this on Friday and let you know how it went In Brixton next Friday (5/2/10) supporting Alabama 3 At Academy 3 in manchester on Saturday (6/2/10) tickets available Tony

Saw Mark Brzezicki with FTJ last year, great Drummer and a good choice by Bruce Foxton as he scrapes every last $$ out of those old Jam tracks! For more Mick and his Wal, check this out, it's the guitarists gig and Mick was a guest as he's one of Sugizo's favourate musicians! Spent a few days playing this and getting it set right for me and it puts a smile on my face every time I pick it up I previously had a US deluxe jazz and this is very similar sound wise due to the p/ips and active circuit Build quality is excellent and the blocked '75 style board does it for me! I had on of these a few years back, wish I had kept it now, but was playing more 5 string at the time so it didn't make sence! It will get it's first live outing in around 12 days with OCS in manchester! Tony

It's a custom classic jazz! I like the style with the retro colour and '75 type neck, it really suits the band I play in as well! Tony

Used at rehersal last night, sounded great, needed a tweak at the bridge before I went out, maybe still needs a little more to get it right for me. Nice and easy to play, looks great, really like the retro vibe this bass has Sounded great last night, with the band it worked really well, also had a good blast and played around with the tone and pickups, sounds good, good punchy finger tone and a bit of Marcus in there too, if thats your bag! I got it from the US, was beginning to give up hope of finding something like this in the UK, like RHS! Tony

This just arrived, took a while to get here, been playing for last hour in readiness for rehearsal tonight, just took a few minutes out to have a brew and share this seafoam green beauty with you all :-) Not the best photo, a bit of flash bounce going on, but you get the idea! Anyone tried a Fender American Vintage 62RI Jazz?
sshorepunk replied to Clarky's topic in Bass Guitars
I recently played a RW jazz in fiesta red, played OK, sounded good, alot of money for a reliced mex jazz IMHO, plus the relic job just looked wrong, something not right! I then played a 64 reissue reliced CS jazz in Dakota red with matching headstock! O M G! f'in amazing, nice neck, great sound and it looked the dogz, but a lot of money as it was one of the 50 limited ones with braz' rosewood fretboard thats around at the moment! Tony -

Time for a different type of porn! This is my little studio set up It's based round a G5 running Pro Tools LE8 with a Digi 002 interface Here's the story behind it and how I work it! I've been using audio recording software such as Cubase since the late 90's and have always run a PC based system with decent sound cards, earlier this year I decided a change was needed as my old PC was running out of steam I also wanted to try the control surface approach, maybe linked to a sound card. After a lot of research on the www and the upcoming release of Pro Tools 8, I decided to go that route. I also decided to look for a dual processor G5, these things hold good money, but I was fortunate enough to find one local with a good BIN price on E-bay. A deal was done and shortly after, a Digi 002 came up, which I also managed to snag. I already had the Tannoy monitors, so was good to go My old Ikea Jerker desk was modified, as it was a bit big, so what you see in the photo's is the modified version Pro Tools 8 was the next addition, this was really what swung me over to Pro tools, and I'm glad now that I made the move, for a number of reasons, more on that later Once set up, I set about getting it all working and learning how to use Pro Tools after many years of Cubase! Then, I got a new gig with the band I am in now and everything kind of got put on hold, whilst I set about learning a whole load of origanil songs, plus a covers set we pull out of the bag when required. So after an initial flurry of gigs, it's now time to get back to pro tools. The move to PT worked well in many ways, as now, both myself and the guitarist in the band, run similar systems, so apart from a few plug ins, we are able to share sessions, gives me a chance to work on new tracks in the comfort of home, with a nice, warm coffee. The set up is simple, I run into a sans amp bass driver which is set flat, the XLR output goes into Channel 1 on the 002. Another output from the sans amp goes into a Bass Pod XT, which goes into the line input on Channel 2 of the 002 I'm still playing around with sounds and levels, but it sounds good to me and having two tracks of bass works very well I'm still learning pro tools and now have enough to get by, thanks to a couple of DVD's I bought last year. i'll have some recordings soon as the stuff we are working on right now is close to mastering
