  1. In a slight deviation from the topic title, nice support for us with Henry Cluney, ex-guitarist of Stiff Little Fingers, hence xSLF. Anyone near Hereford/Gloucester?
  2. Just been sent this - cheers SeeYaDownTheFront Photography! Me going widdle-de-dee at Rebellion wearing my own band tshirt (though the logo is on the back...)
  3. Getting a bit noisier, this band are most excellent live...
  4. Me too! I've only seen it about twenty times, and it's just as good every time I see it. My Mrs is a veteran of 30+ watches!
  5. Me too! I remember when I moved to this area 20+ years ago the local pub advertised a "jam night". I asked if there would be a bass amp, was told "no" but that amps were allowed. You should have seen their faces when I wheeled in my enormous folded horn cab and Marshall bass amp. The pub was full of folkies with their penny whistles and twiddleytee music - I got to back one brave bloke strumming his own song on an acoustic guitar with no hint about what chords he was likely to play. I never went back to the "jam", but did join the house band for the blues festival "open mic" where we backed singers or instrumentalists - we could do any song from any genre so long as it was strict 8 bar or 12 bar blues...
  6. Me too! I had a chap asking if I wanted to join his band recently and rather than ignore him we corresponded and even found we had folks in common. And I had no interest in joining his band, wasn't my thing and I was busy anyway, but I felt like it was good manners to reply. It's not like he was a spammerscammer trying to steal my life savings (or if he was, there's probably better ways).
  7. Aye! And what's amazing is the amount of folks who don't put pics in, or any sort of idea of what/when/how/why. It only takes a couple of seconds to type something like "been playing guitar for 10 years, looking to join covers band, influences range from Beatles to Metallica"
  8. I once sent out 23 messages to guitarists, all of whom professed to wanting to play the genres I was proposing, and all of whom said they were expert or advanced. I only got 1 message back, from someone who turned out to be late 60s (said 40 in profile) and wanted to play country , it said punk and funk in profile, so wasn't interested. Still waiting for replies from the others; good thing I wasn't holding my breath! Still strikes me as a bit rude not to reply at all - surely not all messages go into unchecked spam folders?
  9. It sounds poncey, but it just means all the notes! Not just the frequencies of 8 notes in a key, or 12 tones in an octave, but all the frequencies possible...
  10. Aye! Even though I'm not usually keen on football chanty punk I was impressed 😄 So impressed that my entry for this month's composition challenge is my attempt at a Knock Off song, with added West Ham 😁
  11. That's the wet end of the Chillis! I prefer their less cheesy persona!
  12. I use rechargeables in my ACG - it seems to eat batteries so I thought this was most cost effective. It lasts about 4-6weeks, I can tell when it's running out because it produces all sorts of weird sounds and feedback until changed! By contrast, my Wal and Parker basses both last for well over a year, and my Lightwave needs plugging in after about 12 hours of playing.
  13. I made a vest shirt just for our two bass players... It has a big bass clef with our motto round it - f#ck em all bar one and b0llocks him (an old saying from Bromsgrove...) And there's a band logo on the back .
  14. Take it all back! I didn't use Luminlay at all - I looked into it and decided I was a) too mean b) too scared to drill into my Wal. Somehow my memory convinced me these were the Luminlay, but they were Glowtec Fret Finders. They work very well, and for £9.99 you can do a number of basses. And the dots aren't annoyingly raised, and the glue has so far held for over a year. https://glowtec.co.uk/fret-finders/
  15. I use Luminlay on all my live basses too... They workwell enough for me to do widdly-woo all over the neck in all sorts of darkness. I tried the cheap'n'nasty ones from Amazon, but they fell off very easily.
  16. You'll be appalled to hear they were great at Rebellion! But Andy called our Raph a Flash W4nkr for playing chords around the 12th fret
  17. Our next opportunity for racketeering is supporting xSLF in Dymock, between Ledbury and Gloucester on 1st September...
  18. I spent our non-rehearsal last Sunday reminiscing about Rebellion... Hence a punky and slightly garbled musing on collective emotion and tribalism inspired by West Ham's theme tune! Starring me on vox, Wal bass (Ampeg plug in), strat guitar (Bias FX), drum programming (Via EZ), rhythm sequence (Universal PolyMax). Mixed in Doblys and rolled in Ozone 9.
  19. We'll see you in the same place on September 10th for Going Feral. Sound should be better than for us at Rebellion!
  20. J'aime Le Connery, c'était le meilleur Bond! 😁 Bienvenue etc
  21. I remember seeing them at Liverpool Erics when they still had (silly) hair! They did 2 surprisingly good albums...
