  1. Likewise, I'd be all over that if I didn't already have a FG 4003. Funnily enough, I just sold a P bass that I tried to love for about 3 years. They're just not for me, with the conclusion being that I can only entertain J's and Ric's. How different we all are. Anyway, GLWTS !
  2. And the annoying chrome bezel is gone too. I found it's removal made mine far, far more playable. Lovely colour combo with the AG and gold. GLWTS
  3. I've just located a hard case in the loft, so the bass will be shipped in this
  4. As were fitted to one of the many Jazz basses in the arsenal. Maybe for an hour or so. They're just not for me. Cut generously for Fender spacing. £35 posted
  5. Now £700 plus delivery. I'd rather like to avoid putting it on the bay if possible !
  6. Thank you, it's really something special I think. The bodywork is a total credit to the former owner. I'd absolutely love a Jazz done the same way..
  7. I've tried a million different brands of flats, and I've got clear favourites. This is what I use: Fender AM Jazz: Labella Low Tension. I love these. So smooth feeling and sounding Fender 70's Vintera Jazz / Le Marquis Jazz: Fender 9050's on both. I'll never swap these strings out. Ric4003: Rotosound Jazz. These suit the Ric tones well, although I'd prefer if they were smoother. I think I'll swap these out for Labella's. Fender AM P Bass / Aerodyne Jazz: Tomastik TI's. They sound great, just a bit sticky for my liking. Hofner 500/1: Beatle Bass Labella's. Lovely and thumpy. My top two are the LB Low Tension's and the Fender 9050's. Either would be great for you I'd say. Be warned that the Fenders take a good bit of time to break in, but once there. Oh man. The sound..
  8. The sound is unbelievable. Funnily they weren't great on my Precision, of which now happily uses Labella low tension strings. I also have TI's on my Oly Fender Jazz. I love the sound that comes from that beast. Fender flats were also excellent on the Aerodyne. My Vintera Jazz and my son's budget Jazz both use well worn sets of Fender flats, and I will never change the strings on these.
  9. Well, I'm in no rush to sell it anyway. If it goes, it goes. Otherwise I'll just keep it. Same story with my Precision. It's been up for sale for a while now. But thanks for the kind words anyway 🙂
  10. I've a lovely Aerodyne Jazz for sale. Serial number dates it at 95-96 MIJ, and it's wearing its years very well. Plays great, neck is straight and it polishes up lovely. There's a few marks here and there, which I've tried to capture in the photos. Strings are recently fitted Tomastik TI Jazz Flats, along with Schaller S Lock buttons. Happy to send via Parcelforce in a Hiscox hardcase ( included in the sale ) to UK addresses. Price now reduced to a very reasonable £750 🙂 Cheers
  11. I've got this FrankenFender up for sale on the selling page if anyone's interested. Cheers
  12. Here's one that should be having the frets played off of it, but I'm really gravitating toward my Jazz basses nowadays. I dare say I'll probably regret this sale given time, as it's fairly unique and very handsome, but it seems pointless to have it gathering dust and taking space up. Spec: Neck: Fender American Standard Rosewood dated 2005. Straight and true. Beautiful silky smooth finish on the rear. An absolute joy to move around. Body: Northwest New Ash. Originally painted with poly, it was fully stripped back before having some nitro / varnish thrown at it. It was then rubbed back to show the effect that you can see in the photos. It's stunning. No gouges as such. Some light scratches. You can see a natural shiny mark where my wrist has been sitting during playing. The weight is very light indeed. Custom brass pickguard from TinyTone recently fitted, which is starting to patina beautifully. I've black and tort guards that I'll throw in also. Pickups / controls: new Tonerider classic pickups. Solderless controls. All recently fitted. Cavities are all shielded. No hum. Metalwork: Gotoh vintage bridge. Gotoh vintage tuners. I had to reuse the original bushings for the tuners as the Gotoh ones were a touch loose. I roughed them up a bit. Looks fine I think. Bronze coloured control knobs. Relic pickguard screws. Schaller S Lock strap buttons. Strings: Recently Tomastik TI flats. Admittedly still quite sticky so need a good bit of breaking in. I'll attach a few picks of the various pickguards I've fitted in the past. Located in Thurso, miles from anywhere. Post will be required I'd imagine. I'd really prefer to send this in a hard case, of which I've none spare at the moment. I'm sure a solution could be found though. I do have an old gig bag and a Fender cardboard box that would probably work for sending. I'm not looking for trades at the moment. I've decided that 6 other bass guitars are enough. Price reduced to £750. Any questions, fire away. Cheers, George
  13. Yes, I have love for that, but I have 4 Jazz basses already..
  14. First gig nerves will soon give way to the first gig buzz. I'm after recapturing that magic now. Go for it, you'll be grand !
  15. This seems to be a reoccurring theme in amateur bands the world over. I deduce from this repetitive complaint that most guitarists are knobs, and most singers are over confident in their abilities.
  16. I've an American Fender Precision here that I can't be cheered about. Doesn't matter what controls, pickups and strings I fit, I just don't like the sound of a P. The problem is it's a looker and I don't really need the money I'd get from selling it. I'm a Jazz bass / Ric guy really, and they fulfil my needs perfectly. Maybe if I re-join a band in the future it'll have it's place in the mix. For the moment, it's stored away..
  17. I can tell you're impressing no one with that behaviour
  18. Another name for either a guitarist or a saxophone player
  19. I'd be interested in the body and hardware if you ever had the need to sell the neck separately. I'd imagine it'll all go in one though, so GLWTS 🙂
  20. You could have simply continued without him and saved everyone the torment of having to listen to a saxophone
  21. Yeah, I've left a good few bands before. One was easy to leave, as the controlling nature of the members meant that I just hated my last gig I did with them. That was a new years eve gig. I quit on the 2nd Jan via messenger ( I had Facebook at that time ). To steal a quote form above "The guitarist was a monumental bellend". The other band I left because there was a change in the line up that didn't vibe with me. I was just honest and polite with that one, and it was fine. I still regularly speak to the members / ex members as I get on with them really well.
