  1. Exactly this. I've a P and a few J's, but added a Ric this summer ( after selling one a few months prior believing I didn't need one). Like you, and value aside, I'd keep the P over anything.
  2. Mine is an absolute keeper. I couldn't be without it
  3. It's a funny one, As I progress through this journey of playing and learning, I realise that I simply do not need 6 bass guitars. Two instruments I thought I'd never sell, a Vintage Hofner and an AM Jazz, are potentially going up for sale as they just don't get any air time. My question: If you previously had an extensive collection, what made you decide to whittle it down to a few less, and what instruments did you keep?
  4. The Friends song: "When it hasn't been your day, you weep the most. Even your ears" It made total sense to me for ages. Like, you're so sad that that even your ears are crying
  5. I'm perfectly happy with my lot at present, and have gotten rid of what I don't want. The ones that I've modded are where I need them to be, so I'm just going to play them. Still a few wee bits to sell, but that's all the trading I'll be doing for a good while
  6. In perfect condition as removed from my 2008 AM Standard Jazz. Happy to post anywhere UK mainland.
  7. I'm digging a bit of Large Mirage at the moment. Proper 70's vibes
  8. Here's a set of Active EMG's as removed from my Fender Jazz. Total plug and play with no soldering required. These have been on my Jazz since I bought it at the start of the year, but would like to try passives on this one. The battery is brand new. Postage available, so please feel free to drop me a PM to discuss. Cheers, George
  9. That's super quirky and fun looking. Like the Saab of the bass world.
  10. Back to black for a bit. I still dig it. Maybe I'll try an aged white plate next
  11. The crowd only cares how it grooves. I'll bet a pound to a penny that it sounds choice plugged in
  12. Thanks man, It's actually an Ash body from Northwest guitars. It was sprayed with black nitro paints in places, rubbed back, and finished with nitro varnish. The neck is a 2005 AM Standard. No, it's not my handy work. Someone with far more skill than me did it! The vinyl is pretty easy to cut and trim. I just searched on YouTube. I've actually just removed the vinyl today, as I wasn't happy with how I finished it, but I'll likely buy more and try again. Its no problem, it's still nice with the black guard. It's a truly fantastic thing to play, and I adore it. I also gave a cheap Jazz of mine the same pickguard treatment last year. It's holding up great
  13. Used some matt gold vinyl to cover the old black pickguard. I was surprised by how well it went with the body colour
  14. Sticky luminous paper cut to size. A quick blast from a UV torch does the job. I'm not putting them on my Ric or Hof though.

  16. So, After buying a cheap Jazz many years ago, it's still one of the best basses I own. I can't find a great deal of info on Le Marquis online, and it seems they have been defunct for a while now. I have done a few things to it: luminous markers, plastic control knobs, vinyl coated pickguard, Fender flats and a full setup, and it plays every bit as good as my high end stuff. It's reliable, comfortable, sounds absoloutly killer and gets positive reactions at gigs. It cost me £50, including a hardcase. I'm curious to hear about your own mega cheap heroes that have totally suprised you
  17. Sold Alain a set of strings. No bother. Prompt payment and great comms. A credit to the site 😀 Cheers, George
  18. I played a 40th P in a music shop and was blown away. It was absoloutly on point and felt perfect. It's a bit mad that I'm still trying to gel with my Fender AM Standard Precision, but there you go..
  19. I fired a Gemini Rogue Wave N neck Humbucker into an old 4001 I used to own. What an insane output it gave compared to the standard Ric pick up. Had to trim the pickguard a little, but it was worth it
  20. Iain's a top bloke. Bought a MB head from me and paid super quick. Great comms, trustworthy and friendly. Legend
  21. Try a Squier 40th Anniversary P bass. They're lovely to play. Also, welcome !
  22. Just bought the 500 Combo on Friday night. It pairs well with the 210 Cab
