  1. I haven't tried any of their pedals but Stone Deaf FX look good https://www.stonedeaffx.com/product-category/pedals/. .....The PDF2 is on my shopping list. Also Thorpy FX https://thorpyfx.com/collections/thorpyfx-pedals
  2. I've had good pedals from: Bright Onion for switching sort of stuff https://www.brightonion.co.uk/ Sine Effects for EQ https://sineeffect.com/ And if you're after imported boutique things like Fuzzrocious then Joe's Pedals is a good shop https://joespedals.com/collections/pedals
  3. Yes - the fx can be turned down to zero and the dry can be boosted.
  4. Ah, bad timing! I've wanted to try one of these for ages but just got a new envelope filter and a new phaser in the last couple of weeks so I should probably give this a miss.... tempting though.
  5. Was that with it switched to 'active' (there's a little toggle switch)? I had a Bass Simplifier and it worked fine for my Dingwall and Sandberg active basses (and the Dingwall had a loud signal), I thought it was a great bit of kit for end of signal chain tone shaping and DI, not quite so good for overdrive or fx loop stuff though.

  7. Loving the Waza so far. The hardware and wireless connection are excellent - feels like a quality bit of kit and connection is quick and seamless, no noticable latency and good sound quality. They are fun to use and can have a quick Waza in seconds! If anyone's having trouble with it losing app connection (I had been) there is a firmware update which fixes that: https://www.boss.info/global/products/waza-air_bass/downloads/. Once that's sorted the app works fine, but isn't quite the same 'premium' feel as the headphones/transmitter. The fx are decent but the interface to select them on the app is a bit weird, the drum loops/metronome are fine and it has a decent tuner too. The 3D effect is too extreme to feel realistic but is interesting to muck about with for a while. For me, I think it was worth getting the Bass version vs Guitar as you can save 6x drum loops/metronome types direct to the headphones and not need to connect a phone/app (and can also change tempo on the headphones), you also get the Bass specific effects (6x presets selectable on headphones) that have things like crossover frequency selection for the Chorus.
  8. I had a quick waza! All seems good. It's now got me straight onto the next bit of GAS though - a 5 string active Bass with front mounted jack socket (without the ££ of a Fodera or Alembic or tight string spacing of an Ibanez SR doesn't leave many options).
  9. It's begging to look a lot like Waza vs potato peeling!
  10. Excellent service from Scan by the way, ordered at about 1pm and arrived 8am the next day (and that day being Christmas eve) via DPD who give a delivery text with 1hr time slot.
  11. A small thing I like about Fodera's and Alembic's is at they make active 5 string Basses with the jack socket on the front. Why don't more manufacturers do that? Clearly those two (and original Fender passive Basses) know a thing or two about good Bass design and feel that it works. Front jack socket = less likely for cable to be pulled out, sits in a stand better, easier to plug in, easier to see/adjust things like headphone amps and transmitters, and my personal favourite - can sit back on a sofa or bench and have the Bass plugged in without the cable poking into the seat. ....that small thing alone obviously doesn't make them worth 10x the cost of other Basses but it's a selling point to me!
  12. That's very tempting then, free postage and next day delivery too. Christmas present to myself! Edit: Done, should arrive tomorrow!
  13. That is a good price for a decent Bass, I had one and 'upgraded' for a Dingwall combustion but in quite a few ways I preferred the Ibanez.
  14. Down to £333 from Scan I've got no idea if that's a trustworthy company or not but most shops price match nowadays.
  15. Sold. Earthquaker Devices 'The Warden' Compressor (V2). £120 (+£5 postage via recorded delivery). Is in very good condition and perfect working order, no box but will be well packaged up. Here's the Andertons write up with technical details (£205 new cost) https://www.andertons.co.uk/guitar-dept/guitar-pedals/compression-pedals/earthquaker-devices-the-warden-v2-pedal And here are a couple of reviews (it's an Onvilab 'top pick') http://www.ovnilab.com/reviews/warden.shtml https://www.compressorpedalreviews.com/post/earthquaker-devices-the-warden-compressor (Thanks to @sumorabbit I've been reunited with the FEA Opti-FET Compressor which can be fairly similar sounding but has added sidechain controls, having two optical compressors seems extravagant!).
  16. Johnny Osbourne, truth and rights. Wheeel up!
  17. It's 4 stage - which was always my preferred 'short' setting on the EBS and for source audio settings (via the Gemini). All sound pretty close and I haven't done an A/B test but it seems there's a bit more funkyness to the grape phaser (less swoosh, deeper and more filter sounding), perhaps it's down to a different amount of sweep in those 4 stages or tone colour of the resonance....not much difference really though.
  18. It tracks very well and is very tweakable (via phone /laptop) and does a good OC-2 type sound, I didn't like the hardware interface as much as having an actual octave pedal though and I could never get it to sound quite as good as the Octamizer or MXR BOD for their types of analogue slightly growling octave sounds though (although they are more lible to tracking/warbling type issues).
  19. I like it - I've had phasers that are more versatile (like the EBS and source audio) but couldn't get them to sound as funky as the grape phaser.
  20. Nice, they both look decent. I just got an Aguilar Grape Phaser which seems like its similar to the MXR deep phase (but 4x the size).
