1.
i am not sure but this link may help
Thanks, that give me a better insight. As all this stuff is unbalanced and I really just need an XLR connector one end I think unbalanced will suffice.
 2. Cheers. I can't see it making a difference but you never know!
 3. Hi all, hope this is in the right place. Did a search but didn't come up with anything. Apologies if I missed it. I'm using a preamp and a power amp, housed in a rack case, and I'm considering placing an EQ between them. However the EQ only has balanced XLR ins and outs, no jacks. I can use an XLR cable to connect the EQ to the power amp but I'll need an XLR to jack cable to connect the preamp to the EQ. So should I use a balanced or unbalanced one - or doesn't it matter? Cheers in advance.

 5.
So who's ever done that?
Hasn't happened to me yet. But I'm sure it will!

 7. See - you did it - and loved it! First of many eh? Well done mate, there's no stopping you now.
 8. I agree with the others. Just do it! Do NOT back out. You'll forever regret it. We've all been there. Ok you might fluff a few notes but no one will care. In fact probably no one will notice. By the end you'll be firing on all cylinders and they'll have to drag you off! Sure beats playing along to an MP3! Have a great time and I bet you'll be planning the next gig on your way home !!!!!!
 9. And for something a bit different .....
 10. Harrier supply basses on Ebay for around 90 quid. Surprisingly not bad!
 11.
This cold be run as an extension cab with a massive increase in volume... and it will look cool too!
But just bear in mind - it's a 4 ohm cab !!!!!
 12. As far as I know all guitar heads will work down to 4ohm.
 13. A 575 watt rig for home use? What the hell do you use on a gig?
 14.
You'll always be your own worst critic (and rightly so, or you end up like Prince or Robbie Williams) so don't sweat it too much ... write it off, learn what you can from it and move on.
I agree. You'll get bad gigs as well as good ones. Put it down to experience and make 'em 'ave it at the next one!
 15.
..."flat EQ" may depend on the type of EQ in your amp. If it's passive EQ and based on the old Fender circuit (check this by turning the bass, mid and treble to minimum - if your amp goes silent, it's passive EQ!) then flat is usually bass and treble at minimum and mids at max. Weird but true...
Well I never knew that. You learn something every day. I'll go and check that out. Cheers.
 16.
If you are going through a PA or in a studio situation there's a guy behind the desk - and the eq is his problem. That's what he's paid for.
Oh so true. So very true.
 17.
Well if you are going through a PA, what does the bass sound come out of, eh?
Exactly! Use full range cabs and they'll be fine. And a lot cheaper than "proper" bass cabs!
 18. I've had stuff from GAK on several occasions and always had flawless service.
 19. This should help explain it.
 20.
i am both excited and terrified
Perfectly normal. Like everyone else has said, go for it and enjoy it. Ignore any smell you might make and you'll find yourself relaxing and getting more confident as the set progresses. When its over you'll wish you could go on all night. There's no other feeling like it!
