1. I think a lot of pub gigs would be more successful if drummers paid more attention to volume balance. I generally find kick and toms are too quiet and snare and cymbals drown everything out. I've noticed the band Vulfpeck always damp their snares even at large gigs with cloth, presumably in keeping with their low volume ethos. Does anyone make low volume cymbals?
2. I'm using a Markbass 104HF with mine, and it's pretty much my dream bass tone. (From your influences probably not ideal for OP though). I have been through some serious changes in rig in the past few years (TE smx300, MarkBass TTE 801 and LM valve, Ampeg SVT 3 and 4, and cabs including Vanderkley 12s, Bergantino NV610 and 115, MarkBass 104HR and 121), and I think I've found my nirvana now! The MarkBass mellows/balances out the fairly aggressive Ashdown, but you can get a good grunt with the valve in the pre (unlike the Trace Elliot or Markbass ones), the compressor is musical and I even find myself using the sub harmonic dial on occasion. Why I avoided Ashdown for so long I have no idea. The 104HF is chunky, but light, and is just so warm and funky. (Not sure the blue and yellow go together aesthetically, but tonally they are a great pairing) I'll say it now, if I try to buy an amp or cab off any of you in the future I want you to stage an intervention, cos I think I've got it right this time!
3. Bump! Really think this should go to a good home. It's a stunningly good amp. Will include U.K. Postage in the price if it helps.
4. I run this (occasionally, when I get time!): http://www.adj.com/airstream-dmx-bridge It's a little buggy and costs £235, but you can run it from your iPhone and it's pretty easy to use. No sound to light though, but variable speed chases. Would be interested in other solutions people have found, as I'm constantly surprised how slow lighting controllers have been at advancements compared to say digital mixers. I really don't think we should have to take a laptop to control a light show nowadays!
5. ** Sold pending the usual; that was quick! ** Possibly the best cab in the world (but definitely not the smallest or lightest!) We've all been there: you're playing Wembley and you just can't make yourself heard over the 50,000 Watt PA, the pyrotechnics and the screaming fans... what to do? Well, this cab is for you! As a bonus it sounds great at low volumes too, and has sturdy wheels to get around on. This one comes with a tweeter, although I've never found the need for it. In good condition and a Bergantino fitted cover included. Going for £650. Would much prefer pickup from Cambridge, or will meet up in a reasonable distance. 6. I had this problem. I think you have to go to 'find content' on your avatar page, and they should be vivible there. Then if you bump the post it will be findable by the search function again.
7. Peter just bought a pedal off me. Excellent communication. No problems here
8.
WHy is this still here? Top amp, great price and Moonbass is a very nice chap. Have a free bump on me.
Thankyou Sir! (He's right you know
9. It weighs 4.8kg (10.5lb). You can try me with trades, but not really looking for anything, so fair warning, you will be lucky to find something that perks my interest. Cheers, A.
10. MXR Bass DI+ price dropped to £90 + p&p
11. Chorus, compressor and xciter sold. MXR Bass DI+ still available
12. Yep, I've got boxes for all the MXRs but not the Aphex. No rubber feet have been harmed in the making of my pedalboard
13. **SOLD** Only MXR Bass DI+ left - Price droppped to £90+p&p Sorry for lumping into one thread; it's just easier for me! 4 excellent pedals in good condition, although all have quality pedalboard Velcro on the bases. They basically all do what they say on the tin, except the Aphex Xciter which by fancy harmonic distortion and side chain limiting can add pleasant high end and beefy low end to your tone. Prices: MXR Bass DI+ £100 now £90 MXR Bass Chorus Deluxe £100 **SOLD** MXR Bass Compressor £100 **SOLD** Aphex Bass Xciter £50 **SOLD** P&P extra if required or pick up from Cambridge. Only trade would be for EHX Bass Micro Synthesizer Cheers, Andy
