  1. Yes it is still available, and will drop price to £400 if that helps. Cheers, Andy
  2. Bump C'mon kids, there's something I've got me eye on
  3. I'll just leave this here... http://basschat.co.uk/topic/273649-warwick-rockbass-star-bass-4-string-black
  4. Thanks 72deluxe. Yeah, I see AE aren't making them anymore? They're great monitors, but sorry, I think they might last me a lifetime! A.
  5. Sorry for late reply tauzero; finally got around to taking the Mackie in to Pro Audio Service this week. Seems like a thouroughly nice chap, but it's looking unlikely to be repairable Many thanks for the recommendation though Andy
  6. Well, after this thread a few years ago: http://basschat.co.uk/topic/175567-which-pa-subwoofer-to-go-for/ I still have the Mackie HD1501s, and they're still working fine! I really only use for pub and small club gigs, and find that I only ever need one of them to compete against 3k peak worth of tops (RCF NX L24-As), and that's not even driving it hard. It makes a huge difference when doing sound, as with the best will in the world a bassist is never going to get the balance right all night, and most bass rigs never really dial in the right amount of sub for the room. That being said, I think it's pretty tough for a PA to make bass sound great by itself, and I get best results with a mix of the PA and the rig. I think it also helps to have some of the kick and the bass coming from the same source. With the full rig I'm up to 5.2k peak, which is probably overkill for most pubs The 1501s are a complete bugger to move around though if there's stairs, but can just about carry with one hand if needed. And digital mixing is really a must to get the best out of the bass for me. A.
  7. Sorry Derek, no plans for trips North of the border soon. PM Me if you'd like to discuss courier options. Cheers, Andy
  8. Does anyone know anybody who would repair a Mackie SRM 450? Preferably in the southeast or midlands. I think it's a power supply issue (when plugged in tends to trip circuit breakers). Ta, Andy
  9. Cough... Cough... http://basschat.co.uk/topic/273649-warwick-rockbass-star-bass-4-string-black/page__fromsearch__1
  10. Love it! Could I be geeky and ask for some technical details of how you filmed (how many cameras? Multiple takes? Colour grading?) A
  11. I'm pretty sure there's no misalignment; it's just trick of perspective in the photos and happens on a lot of bass photos. Of course you could always sell it to me for a reasonable price if it bothers you Wish I'd put a bid in...
  12. This used to be our favourite venue: High Barn in Essex. Now sadly closed, but was the most perfect place to play.
  13. I've been using the iPad wifi app on my Soundcraft Expression desk for a few gigs now and although it is useful it should come with a big word of caution. Firstly if you think it's suddenly going to solve all your problems with hearing yourself onstage and feedback then think again! I've learned that I am pretty much incapable of playing bass and using an iPad at the same time, so 90% of the time it's just saving me the short walk to the desk, and I still can't hear what FOH sounds like anyway. When just doing sound for bands it is great for setting the monitor mix onstage, but once you're started with the gig, you can't really be going up every time a band member asks for 'a bit more of themselves' so you're still relying on their judgement most of the time. And that kinda leaves the option that I haven't dared try yet, which is leaving the iPad with the singers (!) I've certainly not found any that are tech or mixing savvy enough yet to do this, but if you're in a stable band and they're willing to put the time in then this could be a great option. The Soundcraft app is also not entirely intuitive, and I've still not been able to get the level/monitoring indicators to work yet. Real faders are a lot easier to work with, for me at least. It does however mean I can confidently get to the bar without worrying about something going wrong on the way, but it's probably cheaper just to get someone to go and buy you a pint!
  14. If you buy it I promise to take the thread down so you can't be tempted?
