1. Oh I like that. Its even tempting me away from the Schecter I've been gassing for all month. What colour is it? The photos on the Cort site make it look a little greyer than the photos here?
 2. Thanks Fly, that's really helped. I've always been more of a software and midi guy so there are some big holes in my knowledge of hardware/amplifiers etc. Now there's one less. Sorry to jack the thread. To answer the original I have one pedal - a fuzz which goes into the front.
 3.
My understanding is the effects send takes the signal from the pre-amp. the effects return feeds back into the power amp.
Ah ok. So thats line level output/input on the effects loop? With instrument level on the main amp input. Handy to know, cheers. (Assuming I've understood )
 4. Is the effects loop amplified/eq'd whatever after it returns? i.e. Input -> Amp -> Effects Send -> Effects Return -> Cab or Input -> Amp -> Effects Send -> Effects Return -> Amp -> Cab or even Input -> Effects Send -> Effects Return -> Amp -> Cab ???
 5.
Will it do the job?
Yup, and a few other jobs too. Would be a good purchase - esp. if you can get it cheap in that auction.
 6.
Thats the interface i used.....without success.I tried every setting in the software and it was either tone with lag or cracks, pops etc without lag.
Really? I've heard reasonably good things about those interfaces - for the money. Certainly shouldn't have had the problems you have had. Aaaahhh wait a minute - while I was finding the link for it, I came across a comment relating to something I said earlier, warning that the Beringer ASIO drivers are junk and that you need to try ASIO4ALL to stand a chance of it working.
I couldn\'t get the Behringer Asio driver to work but downloaded the asio4all driver and can get a sensible 8ms latency with my guitar rig.so 10-10 for both the UCA202 and Dolphin.
If you can borrow it again, I'd be interested to hear if using ASIO4ALL makes a difference for you.
 7. You could try the headphone out from your soundcard into the CD input - at least the signal strengths would match. For that, I wouldn't recommend spending money on an audio interface, if it sounds awful from the headphone socket of a soundcard, it'll probably still sound awful coming from the headphone socket of an audio interface.
 8.
This is my practice amp, I'm wondering if it would go into the cd in.
I'm not too hot on my hardware (slightly better on the software side) but I'd guess the CD input is designed to take the headphone out of a CD/MP3 player and might not be too great when it receives the milder signal from an audio interface. Headphone outs are pre-amplified (I think) for headphones / small speakers so you might not be getting the full quality signal from the interface/soundcard. But having said that, it might not be too bad at all.
 9.
Kenny, you should try your laptop in your amp's FX loop!!
That's clever. Edit: just to point out I wasn't being sarcastic, that really is clever thinking.
 10. Trying not to get too techie - but the interface I just posted (which is £5 cheaper on dv247.com btw) doesn't have a Hi-Z instrument input, just general inputs. I'm undecided at this point exactly how much difference this makes... in my case, it doesn't seem like much. Edit: the output from your amp head into interface might work a treat though. I've tended to plug the bass direct into a Hi-Z instrument connector and the signal is a little low. But then my bass is sh*t and quiet anyway. With a bit of volume adjusting in the software, I'm getting some fun sounds from Amplitube/Guitar Rig etc. and even did a bit of bass recording over the weekend just for a laugh.
 11.
Would I be able to use it through the the line in or would I need an interface?
You could... but let's say you've decided it you'll use it enough to make buying the software worthwhile. You'd be better off whacking another 512MB into the machine and finding the cheapest USB audio interface you can. Any of them would be better than the onboard sound (which is generally stinking). Even something like this http://www.dolphinmusic.co.uk/shop/flypage/product_id/8522 would be worth a shot. Software like this is really designed to be sent to studio monitors/PA systems not amps though.
 12.
I could'nt get it to work properly at all with the interface,i got either crackles with no lag or decent tone with loads of lag.I've gone back to using the line in and headphone out on the soundcard.
Ah right. I don't think using the headphone out to carry the signal to an amp is going work out too well - but if your soundcard doesn't have a proper out then you're screwed. I'm a bit surprised it all runs okish with a soundcard, but your system is struggling with a proper audio interface. What's the spec of the laptop? Assuming its half decent then you would want an audio interface at some point really - did you use ASIO drivers or MME when you tried the Behringer? I had one interface where the ASIO drivers were woeful - MME was better but problematic so I installed ASIO4ALL (asio emulation for MME devices) and that worked a treat.
 13.
Could it be the interface i used if so do i need a better one or could it have been the lappy.I get no lag using the line but the tone could be better,it's great through the headphones btw.
If it sounds great with headphones plugged into the audio interface then the problem sounds more like how you're dealing with the output. You didn't say (or I missed it) how you're sending the audio interface's output to the outside world?
 14. This thread makes me sad. Bilb - you coulda made it kid. You coulda lived the dream and played metal... instead you got in with a bad crowd and ended up playing j@zz.
 15. Take the schems for an A/B pedal and don't connect the B?
 16.
Another lefty for the crew?!
Lefty? From that pic he only has one arm.
 17. Um... never actually heard any. Is that bad?
 18. I'd be in for some of that. Had some aural training software once - it was rubbish. If noone can find anything, perhaps thats a project for one of our hardcore boys here. I'm sure you could make enough to buy a few pints.
 19.
I have given up on Metal Hammer, now I read Zero Tolerance.
Yeah - I remember when Metal Hammer turned a bit sh*t; then Terrorizer came out. Surprised its still going. I bought ZT the other day after seeing it in Borders, pretty impressed. Cheap, good read and a cover CD.
 20.
Headbanger's ball is still on. But i can see you must be pretty old if you can't stay up till midnight to watch it.
Hahahahah. I meant the REAL Headbangers Ball - with Vanessa Warwick. Not what you youngsters pretend is HBB. And I have the first issue of Metal Hammer - had given up on Kerrang and along came this new mag that promised proper metal. Happy days.
 21.
How old are some of you Metal fans on here?
Old enough to remember when metal was metal; and you watched it on Headbangers Ball.
 22.
And all bands whose names end with a vowel are s**t. Fact. Not opinion - fact.
A-HA! Got you there, noone can say the norwegian princes of pop are sh*t. ... /facepalm
 23.
I don't know if I know exactly what country music is.
...
Lyle Lovett, Mary Chapin Carpenter, Johnny Cash. One of the last albums I purchased was the best of George Jones. Some of the greats have done some superb country stuff. Have a listen to Gram Parsons and The Byrds "sweetheart of the rodeo.
You lie! You DO know what country music is... you only wish you didn't.
 24.
OK, how about these reasons for disliking Country and Western music?

The whiny voice that accompanies every song
The cowboy hats

Al from Ministry, and Rob Zombie from White Zombie wore cowboy hats. Strippers wear cowboy hats... Can't fault the hats. Maybe its the fact that we don't like to listen to men crying like girls in our music.
 25.
I only play two types of music. Country and western.
Genius! I must admit I only gt the reference on the second read.
