  1. I've been listening to quite a lot of dub and reggae this week. Playing bits and pieces. I seem to keep going back to Black Uhuru. Something about it just really works for me.
  2. I'm three quarters of the way there with Evidence by Faith No More. Absolutely loving playing this one. Also just playing around with bits of dub and reggae to try to understand it. Really enjoying it. Next up is Thunder Kiss 65 by White Zombie. Classic bit of 90's alt metal and a great bass line. https://youtu.be/yPNFVj-pISU
  3. I think that's probably very similar to the training we get. It's utter crap. We got it after "discriminating" against a team member because we didn't invite him for a night out. None of us liked him because we spend so much time putting right his incompetence.
  4. Is it much different to the straight edge scene in punk? They're vegan, don't drink, don't smoke and don't do drugs. Their music is usually very angry.
  5. Cerements of the flayed - Cannibal Corpse A lovely ballad. One to sing to your lover in a romantic moment.
  6. Dead skin mask - Slayer
  7. That was Homer Simpson (backing vocals by Bart) in one of the episodes where Lisa became a vegetarian.
  8. I've got a vegan, imitation leather strap. It looks very close to real leather but not as real as the bacon sandwich that would be in my other hand. My wife makes vegan horse riding equipment. Very popular at the moment. Veganism is very fashionable.
  9. Darker thoughts - Paradise Lost
  10. I've not experienced over tones on either of my 5 strings (SUB Stingray and Sterling Stingray). The B string has a much darker, duller tone than the same notes on the E string but to be honest, I try to exploit that tonal difference.
  11. Subway song - The Cure
  12. Happy Talk - Captain Sensible
  13. My friend in misery - Metallica
  14. Heaviest matter in the universe - Gojira
  15. Supermassive black hole - Muse
  16. Fat Bottom Girls - Queen
  17. This means war - Old Firm Casuals
  18. Weekend wars - MGMT
  19. So it's not just me then! The 5 definitely sounds fatter. I prefer it to the four. Could a better pickup add some fatness to the four?
  20. 50 million year trip - Kyuss
  21. I've been wondering whether there's a natural tone difference between the same model bass as a 4 and 5 string version. I've got a Sterling Ray34 and Ray35 which have the same body and neck material, same tuners, same bridge and same nut. The pickups are supposed to be 4 & 5 string version of the same pickup. They both have the same Daddario XL strings. With the eq set flat, the five string sounds much fatter and just better. Is this down to the wider neck or some other difference due to the extra string?
  22. Don't forget the Lamborghini doors
  23. Our friends electric - Gary Numan
  24. I've got a pair of Sterling Ray's, a Ray34 and a Ray35. I've found that they sound quite a bit different. The 35 has a much bigger, more rounded tone while the 34 sounds a bit weak by comparison (eq flat on both). Would this be down to the more chunky 5 string neck or would it be down to differences in the pickups?
