1.
MB1. :)

£88 is a lot of cash for a lead!.Us mere mortals ,have had no problems with planet waves leads............ so far!(considerably cheaper)

+1 for OBBM though (any freebies?)............always worth a try!
I've never gotten on with those Planet Waves after one absolutely refused to insert into my bass! The sprung sections just refuse to fit; only with this one bass so I have to concede you could blame the jack socket but I've never had an issue with any lead in that particular bass before or since.

Not the end of the world I know but... if you're buying a lead you expect it to work!

  2.
Can any of these multi-track,as to intergrate loops as and when I please?

    (Think Frippatronics)
I'm not an expert but if you mean by that can you layer tracks over the top of your original loop, then yes the AKAI does that... and with ease, as many times as you like. However, if you wish to erase a track you don't like then you have to erase all back to the original loop (which is still saved until you wish to erase it).

  3. I had a Warwick Streamer 8 for about a year, previously owned by the bassist of KRAAN, sold it on as it was just too... unusual. Cheap Trick bassist Tom Petersson used an 8 string a bit on early recordings even though many thought it was always a 12 string (which obviously he did use as well). Lovely overtones from an 8 (or 12) but they are very band/song specific.

  4. +2 OBBM

The guitarist and I bought a whole bunch of patch, speaker and guitar leads from him. No issues from either of us and the same price as a standard lead from a shop but you get custom lengths/colours delivered to your door.

  5.
I wonder what it sounds like if there is no active circuitry? You gotta love the simplicity of it, like the G&L SB2...nothing but volume and all passive.
I thought all MM basses needed a battery? It does look like you might be able to fit a battery in the control compartment on the back!

  6. That is a puzzler because it does look like a MM Sterling body (heel chamfer, contours, neck pocket) but I've never heard of a production bass with 1 control! It also doesn't look like the body's been capped to cover the control holes, as the rear of the body doesn't even have a cavity cover (just the battery cavity). There appears to be a bit of lacquer chipping on the rear of the body which you'd think would have been covered/fixed had it been modded/refinished.

Really don't know what to make of that!

  7.
Which audio programme are you using with the Tascam? It should appear as a audio in device on any audio track, you may have to select it in preferences.
It came as a bundle with Gigastudio 24!

However running this doesn't appear to let me record, it gives a message that this is a feature only available to the higher spec product (so what's the point I ask).

Are you aware of any a free/shareware products that will let me record?

  8.
Good stuff, would have been better had Bowie not been singing!! :)
No you aren't serious, hence the wink!

I knew she did backing vox but I just wasn't aware that she did lead vocals, stunning.

Glitch! that's not a glitch, in our band that'd be called... 'jazz'.

  9. Or more accurately 'why the f*ck won't this work'!

I'm trying to record some sound-clips for a fellow BCer so that they can hear my Parker Fly (for about 3 freakin' weeks) however this Tascam is having none of it... and I mean nothing!

I installed the software, rebooted then plugged in the unit via USB (front and back of the PC) and I can't even access any VDU on the PC as the only interface I can find is the bloody tuner (which works, so I know I'm connected). Nothing in programmes, nowt in control panel (other than uninstall, which I've tried), nadda in My Computer. Is this hiding away in some strange directory that I can't access? The CD manual gives nothing away.

I really am getting to the point where I'm becoming paranoid about PCs and installing stuff (hence my ask in 'off topic' about routers).

  10.
Anyone help me with some info on Ashdown Superfly heads please? On their spec, they say the head's 250w x2 rather than 500w. How does that work then? Can I get 500w out of it with my 4 ohm cab?

Also Soundcontrol are knocking them out at £199. Is that a good or a great price?
You won't get 500w into your 4 ohm cab, you'd get 250w with the option of adding another 4 ohm cab to get 250w from each.

As for price... There are cheaper options out there and several people have voiced concerns about reliability but TBH 250w or 500w it is a lot of amp for £199. It wasn't so long back that £199 would have bought you some hideous Chinese no brand cr*p... Oh sorry that is Ashdown isn't it!

  11.
This isn't a Squier - it is a Fender Japan bass.

the Japanese Fender basses made between 1982 - 84 also had the JV serial number. The same goes for the SQ models.

As far as the Squier's go - generally a serial number of JV0xxxx has a good chance of having the large Fender, small Squier logo anything from JV1xxxx will be the other way around.
I had that niggly feeling that was the case. Hardly surprising he's trying to sell it as a Squier; as one of the very earliest Squiers it would be worth more than a Jap Fender of that period.

  12. Why has he stripped the bass down to the point of removing the machineheads? There's showing a bass in the best possible light and then there's this!

Everytime I look at the close-up of the fingerboard I get the feeling that looks like shoddy fret work and the dings in the fingerboard don't look consistent to the quality of the rest of the bass... I mean those tuners are gleaming!

I have no idea why I'm so attracted/confused by this particular instrument. I mean you couldn't ask for better quality images etc. Is it a case of too good to be true?

  13. Should we define light weight?

I'd say for a full scale standard bass (headstock and full bodied, P/J style) 8lb is light, so for someone conscious of weight they'd be looking at the lower side of that... yes/no

Obviously Parker Fly, hollowbody hofners, Steinberger/Hohner stick basses etc. may well clock in at a lot less than 7lb.

Bear in mind that here are massive variances within any range. 'Bernmeister' just nominated his Warwick; I have two Warwicks (SS II's) and there is 1.5lb difference between them! I also owned a SSI that clocked in at 7.5lb whereas my current SSI is a nadge over 8.5lb. The moral, try before you buy!

  14. Met up with and bought a set of cabs from Mark pre BW/BT/BC and he really is a top guy to deal with. I'd happily buy from him sight unseen, buy with confidence.

Has a habit of finding himself some tasty bands to, no doubt mostly down to his ability :)

  15. Saw this example on eBay and it is photographed superbly. However, way back when they were first issued I had one of the earliest JVs in the UK and it had a large Fender logo with a small Squire (as opposed to the later large Squire/small fender). I've never known a JV have no reference to Squire on the headstock, am I cracking up?

  16. He now also has a Strat Bass guitar for sale! Item number: 200138031279

    http://cgi.ebay.co.uk/ws/eBayISAPI.dll?Vie...s_promot_widget

  17. Hardly odd at all that his 4 most recent purchases are how to repair bad credit. Maybe he was interested in how to do this... but 4 times!

    Stinks.

Notice how he describes the bass as having a softcase and it's in a hard one; tortie guard fitted when it's black.

His feedback accreditation is what would worry me the most.

  18.
Hi Guys,

I bought an Ampeg 610 and an SVT classic (new) and was in tone heaven til the Head gave up after about 4 months, replacement head gave up and I was "upgraded" to an Anniversary 810 & head free...... the couple of gigs I did with the 810 before the Anniversary head "expired" I found the 810 lumpy, thic and slow compared to the 610, ports and a horn seemed to suit the live work I was doing. I found the nearfield sound much better with the 610. Ofcourse haveing 4 810's on a stadium would rock but an 810 in the dog & duck just seemed to knock the back wall in while you can't hear the thing 3 feet away....... Great Cab like...... But I wouldn't touch the heads with a scafolding bar !!
OMG that is one serious amount of shoddy gear! Mucho egg on the face of the supplying dealer I imagine.
