1. I've decided to finish my 'W' with an amber/burst/orange finish. I was just going to wax it but I'm unlikely to ever have the chance to have a Warwick stripped and devoid of any finish in the near future (and a CS is just absolutely silly money) and I've always wanted an Amber (amberburst) bass. It may seem cheesy but I think it's quite subtly tounge in cheek that it will be orange and has pumpkin inlays... well I think so anyway!

  2. Not sure why people assume that a 15" will give more 'bottom end' than 2x10" the ability to reproduce low end with any conviction is different for every single speaker and manufacturer. I've owned 2x10's that have far more bottom end than 15's that I've owned.

You also have to consider that when you EQ you are EQing for the speaker in your combo so using a different size speaker as an extension will be a compromise. I'd vote for keeping to all 10's but it's just an opinion!

  3. I'm always dubious of sellers professing to know nothing, acting a bit dumb but knowing enough to tempt you. He has a friend who worked for Fender (whatever) then surely that friend would have told him about the earthing wire to the bridge, it's certainly one of the first things I'd be asking a knowledgeable friend!

I'm sure there are loads of knowledgeable Fender heads on here that'll identify the bass right down to the screws used on the s'plate but I still think the seller's patter stinks.

    a wee bit nice!
That would look lovely on your fork-lift truck :)

  5. To put it in real world context on a day to day basis, I ran a 1000watt pre/power rig into a 300 watt cab for a couple of years with no issues. We still presently run a pair of Peavy Hi-Sys 1x15 PA cabs (350 watt rating) with a 1200 watt poweramp; the power amp is run with the gains on full and the output is governed by the desk faders. These speakers have been driven like this for 14 years with 50-75 gigs per year + rehearsal time, power amps have come and gone (gradually getting lighter) but output power ratings of the amps has never been below 1k... the speakers are still going strong and we've never blown a speaker or horn despite putting the whole band through it on many, many occasions. Use 3 of your senses; your ears, eyes (watch meters/indicators) and your common sense. I could also include your sense of smell (i.e. things getting too hot and starting to overheat), you'll not go to far wrong if you don't do something daft.

  6.
Well particually when your a young Warwick enthusiast as well, and nopw I want your Stage 2 worse than anything!!

I would lunge wildly at the Pope for that one!
Either one (the black one far left is a II) would cost you a particularly large chunk of dosh. There was a II floating about for sale recently that briefly passed through Marcus's hands and that was silly cheap!

  7.
And Warwicks are like peanuts this time of year, you get one, and then you want another, and then another until you run out of floorspace, well in my case I've got a whole attic room to fill so this is so horribly inappropiate:-)
What like this...

Go on take it, one less for me one more for you!
