  1. The constituent parts of a legally binding contract are: - Offer acceptance consideration consensus In this case you offered to make the purchase and in exchange for receiving the goods later paid the value of the goods (the consideration). They accepted your payment and unless they explicitly said it was a deposit or down payment then I would argue you have an enforceable contract. There is an earlier step which is not part of the contract itself but it is material and this how were the goods advertised or presented for sale? This is known as an invitation to treat. If you were enticed to buy the goods because the price was advertised, displayed or mentioned then you should be able rely on that as part of the pre-contact negotiations. unless any other limiting terms or conditions were made clear at the time of your order I think you probably have a good case. BTW this isn’t legal advice - I started a legal exec course about 30 odd years ago (didn’t finish it though) and this was one of the few things that stuck in my mind. 😂 Good luck and let us know how you get on.

    What happened?

I had a late 70s Fender Precision, sunburst with rosewood fingerboard. It got nicked in the early 80s, twice! The first time, after a tip-off from the local music shop and the help of the police it was recovered. After the second time I never saw it again. I really regret not keeping it safer at the time 😫
  3. I got some of these to replace the reverse-wind tuners on my MIJ ‘62 reissue JB. Direct replacement and a perfect fit with the existing screw holes. Well engineered and now I don’t get confused when tuning the damn thing. 😂
  4. The bass that Gerry sent to me via ACP recently was delivered safely and efficiently (although Gerry’s bomb proof packaging contributed to that as well). The delivery driver was a nice guy too and he was intrigued to know what it was. Turns out he was a Mick Karn fan and we had a really good chat about fretless basses and other early eighties bass players.
  5. If it does turn out to be no good, this WD one is currently looking quite cheap: https://www.ebay.co.uk/itm/Fender-precision-bass-scratchplate-/154510095087?mkcid=16&mkevt=1&_trksid=p2349624.m46890.l49286&mkrid=710-127635-2958-0
  6. They do look good, available with or without the truss rod notch. https://www.ebay.co.uk/itm/Precision-Bass-Pickguard-fits-US-scratchplate-various-colours-/112609810033?mkcid=16&mkevt=1&_trksid=p2349624.m46890.l49286&mkrid=710-127635-2958-0
  7. Looks to me like it could be Buddha, squatting with hands on knees?
  8. I’ve just received delivery of a lovely P-Bass from Gerry. Great bloke to deal with, very efficient transaction and great communication along the way. The bass was very well packed and shipped by overnight courier. I couldn’t be happier and would not hesitate to deal with Gerry again.
  9. Just bought one of these. It’s good quality and at £15 good value. However this doesn’t have the notch for the truss rod adjustment at the heel of the neck. https://www.ebay.co.uk/itm/Precision-Bass-guitar-Scratchplate-High-Quality-Made-in-Japan-/111992545213?mkcid=16&mkevt=1&_trksid=p2349624.m46890.l49286&mkrid=710-127635-2958-0
  10. And, just to flip the concept on its head, how about about a cover version before the original? I’ve gotta say when I first saw this video, it had me going for a moment 😂

  13. https://www.ebay.co.uk/itm/1990s-Bass-Guitar-Hard-Case-Hardcase-Precision-Bass-Jazz-Bass-P-Bass-J-Bass-/255031505672?_trksid=p2349624.m46890.l49286 i think I’d want a pre-CBS P-Bass thrown in as well for that kind of money.
  14. Pete Wentz? Never heard of him! Even after Googling his name I’ve still no idea who he is. How much value can the name add? Not much I suspect. Either that or I’m getting old 😮
  15. No, but it’s very close. It’s called the Shaggster. Apparently it’s based on the Shuker JJ Burnell signature model but with a tinted neck, EMG Geezer Butler Pickups and Relic finish.
  16. Just acquired this…
  17. My mate had a Stranglers tribute band called Four More Heroes.
  18. I bought replacement Jazz Bass wiring loom from @KiOgon. My order was turned around the same day and it arrived quickly. It’s well put together and easy to connect up. John was very helpful in allowing me to figure out my existing pick up wiring to get me up and running. Thanks😁
  19. I got my replacement wiring loom from @KiOgon in double quick time and it’s a fine quality piece of work. Truly plug and play once I figured out which wires were which emanating from my pickups. John kindly answered my questions about this and once I’d plucked up the courage to cut the old pots off I was up and running in no time. Much improved control now and the switchable series/parallel feature is a useful bonus.
  20. I’ve ordered a replacement wiring loom from @KiOgon which has Bourns mini pots. The mounting hole size is, as pointed out, a couple of mm too small on my existing control plate so I’ve got my tapered reamer standing by to take care of it. 🙂 Thanks everyone for all the replies. I’ll report back when everything is hooked up and tested.
  21. Thanks, would a volume + blend control rather than two separate volumes work better do you think?
