  1. My post was obviously a joke. Well, I thought it was obvious but I was obviously wrong 😉
  2. We'll see. On bassmazine.com, it says that "The first-ever signature artist bass for Gene from Gibson, the Gene Simmons G² Thunderbird Bass introduces a revitalized Gibson Bass lineup with more signature and core guitars to come" https://bassmagazine.com/gear/gibson-releases-the-gene-simmons-g-thunderbird-bass
  3. Does not surprise me. The cover is really good and "Lou Reed, when asked at the time whether he had heard anything by Oasis, claimed: "Not that I would know. Oh, Wonderwall? The one I know is the Mike Flowers one. That is one of the funniest things I've ever heard in my life."[wiki]
  4. Thank you, @Dad3353, the cheque is in the post 😉
  5. Well, it may be a decent instrument but I doubt it is so good that it can turn losers into rock stars. Well, maybe I should get one and if I do not turn into a rock star that gets respected by guys and adored by girls, then I should ask for my money back and threaten to sue Gibson for misleading advertising, which is against the law: https://www.gov.uk/marketing-advertising-law/regulations-that-affect-advertising "The Consumer Protection from Unfair Trading Regulations mean you cannot mislead or harass consumers by, for example: including false or deceptive messages Penalties - if you break the regulations, you could be reported to a local Trading Standards office. You could be fined, prosecuted or imprisoned." So, watch out Gibson 😉
  6. Well, credit to Gibson. Cool video. However, like so often, the ad is much better than the actual product it tries to sell.
  7. Q: Does anyone have just ONE bass? A: Of course, I only have ONE bass - ONE for Alice in Chains songs, ONE for Grunge rock, ONE for classic rock, ONE for old school/MOTOWN, ONE for funk and disco, and ONE for RATM songs. Still need ONE for metal. You see, it is so easy to only have ONE bass 😉
  8. Interestingly, the nut width is not the typical 1.5" but 1.6'' That's how the back looks like:
  9. Just saw this on GG's website: "The Gibson Gene Simmons G2 Thunderbird Ebony Mirror is a stunning bass that reflects the legendary Gene Simmons perfectly. It sports a sleek, modern design, and has a number of great appointments such as a bound ebony fingerboard embedded with Pearloid reverse split diamond inlays, Hipshot Mini Clover tuners, a Hipshot Bass Bridge and is powered by a set of T-Bird pickups." Not sure the new features (mirror plex pickguard with Gene's custom logo, new truss rod cover, bound ebony fingerboard with split diamond inlays, and the hipshot hardware) are worth the hefty markup over a regular Tbird (£2,499 instead of £1,999). Probably only of interest to die-hard KISS fans. What do you think?
  10. I am sure G&L will tell us that the new bridge is great as it reduces weight and/or is a modern take on a classic look etc. However, it was probably done to save costs.
  11. According to google search, "placentia" comes from the Latin "pleasant place to live". However, it does sound similar to placenta.
  12. To me it looks like to make the HB basses even more affordable, Thomann decided to reduce costs further by using less paint for the finishes 😉
  13. Bought a CTS kit for my P bass. Works very well. John replied to my enquiry super quickly, gave me all the details and shipped the kit immediately. Great service. John also quickly answered some questions I had regarding the installation. Very impressive and more than happy to buy from him again. Buy with confidence 👍
  14. Thank you 🤩 This finally explains why I like bright red basses so much. One therapy session less to pay for 😉
  15. Cool stuff. Listening to it made me think of the red waiting room in Twin Peaks somehow 🙂
  16. Purple is great but for me it has to be Core. Especially the unplugged versions of Crackerman, Wicked Garden, Plush, Creep and Sex Type Thing.
  17. Forgot the worst deal breaker - mismatching woodgrain. Man, I cannot stand something like the one below 🥴
  18. satin finishes, 1.5'' nut width, chunky necks, weird looking pickguards (e.g., Ric), multi-scales, short scales, 5 or more strings, relic basses, sparkly finishes and headless basses
  19. Interesting question. Did some quick googling out of interest. Here we go: "Among the other basses he's used are a Schecter Model T with jazz pickups, not PJ, a Danelectro Longhorn, a couple of old short-scale hollowbodies (Limgar and Orlando) with flatwound strings (q.v the MTV Unplugged show), an upright bass on Pretty Penny, a '66 fender Precision with flats, a Fender Musicmaster, and a Ric 4001 (Art School Girl)."
  20. Nice one. I think this combination looks indeed better. I would get a clear pickguard for the Sledge to really showcase the stunning finish!
  21. Fully agree. Plush has several interesting parts. They are all fun to play and even someone with such limited skills like myself can play them 😎
  22. Cool stuff. Yes, it was a fantastic gig. I know that Jeff Gutt is not Scott Weiland but I think he did a great job and he engaged the audience quite well too, including climbing around the venue 😉
