I have experienced that. For example, I prefer my Jazz bass over my BB735 for solo, but not in the mix. And I am one of those who like the BB735 preamp hahaha. I have not experienced with Delano, but I love how they sound on the Sandbergs. I am looking for a more modern sound, more humbucker-like. The EMGs look interesting too

Well, it's finally here! My BB605 arrived today. I've been playing with it for 1 hour and this are my impressions: -I like the neck. It's really comfortable. I have to adjust it, but so far, it's really good. -The preamp is garbage. I hate it. I can see people liking it, but I'm not one of them. The knobs are ok I guess. -The overall sound: meh. I don't hate the pickups, but I don't love them either. I don't mind since I was already thinking about changing the preamp and the pickups. I like how it feels and plays. I can change the rest. Thinking about Glockenlang or Delano preamp. Or Aguilar. And Delano pickups.

With these settings I think it sounds really cool. In a rehearsal there was a problem though. I was given a Fender Rumble 500 , so I plugged the Ashdown to the return of the amp. It didn't have enough signal since the input is relatively low. I have to say that I'd used it this way with other amps without any problems, but not with the Rumble. Anyway, when plugged through the DI it sounded awesome and no problem.

I played yesterday in an acoustic vibe gig. I played with my Epi Jack Casady with flats and with the Ashdown Preamp. Nothing else. No amp, no pedals. I added a little bit of overdrive with the valve. I was really happy with the combination of the two. Vintage vibe. The soundguy came after the show to compliment how good the tone of the bass was.

I want to see if I like the stock ones, but I will probably put on some Delano pickups and I'm not sure about the preamp. I like the 3 band by Nordstrand, but I won't know until I got it. Anyway, my main bass will still be the BB735.

Hello guys I've finally spotted a BB605 in that sexy red that I love. So, it's on its way. It should arrive next week. In the meantime, does any of you have one? I'd like to know more about the preamp and the pickups. I thought it was like the 735 but the switch affects the mids I think. Any experience/recommendation?

Yes, I agree with you. Any amp has to turn down the gain and the master up.

My Fender Classic 60s Jazz bass. I love everything about this bass. It's true that I changed everything but the tuners, but it feels and sounds too good. Apart from this beauty. I will never sell my Yamaha BB735a. It's not a classic, it may not have that "wow" effect on people (even though for me and some people, it has it) but it just feels at home. I've been looking at 5 strings basses lately and I haven't found one that I really like as I like my BB. I think it will stay with me forever too hahaha.

I think the BB had more of a vintage sound, more round and I prefer the lows of the BB. The G&L sounded more modern I guess (or what I think it's more modern), more sharp. I also preferred the preamp of the BB (I think I'm probably the only one here who likes it). I didn't get along with the electronics of the G&L. No because they were bad, but they were not for me. But the construction was 10/10.

When I was looking for a five string (and I got my BB735) I tried a G&L-2500 Tribute and I have to admit that I fell in love with the neck. It was really impressive. The sound was fine, but it wasn't what I was looking for.

I missed the opportunity to get a 415 and I really regret it. I'm pretty happy with my 735 though.

I've been looking at demos the whole weekend. And I have to say, that they sound good. In the website they also have a list of pros who use them (I've never actually cared about that, but I was curious). However, in my head, I still think that Sire sounds too good to be true. I'm in the market for a 5 string jazz bass. 1000 bucks more or less. And then I look at Sire and I like the v7, and it's 550€ in my area, And in my head something says "half the price? cannot be that good". People say that they are better than the Mex Fenders, but I don't know. It looks like it gives too much for the money. And the V10 and V9 sound pretty amazing. But I'm not a fan of the finishes.

I see (at least for the specs) is that the TRBX and the BB have the same neck. I like that because I love the neck of my BB735

I like this one (which two days ago it was on their website, but not anymore). The SR2405W. I've been looking at the rest and, even though I know they sound good, I cannot like them haha

Hello guys, I have been thinking about getting a TRB1005J (in caramel brown 😍) for some months. I like it being 35" and the few videos I watch, it sounded really good. But there is not that many info compared to the TRBX and the BB range. However, I have recently thought about getting a TRBX605 (in matte amber 😍) and change the pick ups to Aguilar Super doubles. The reason is that a friend of mine has those pickups in another bass (I don't remember the model, but they are not the stock pickups) and they sound amazing (I have Aguilar pickups in a jazz bass and they also sound much better than the stock Fenders IMO). Probably change the preamp too, but I'm not sure since I kinda like the preamp in my BB. The main differences about theese two I think are the scale and the sound. I already have a BB735, so I'm looking for a more kinda modern sound. I think the TRBX may be more modern sounding and the TRB more jazzy (the pickups are single coil right?). Having a 34" scale already I wouldn't mind trying a 35" (I will try to test it before buying). But I'm not sure if the TRB could give me that modern vibe. I'm looking for something like the Ibanez SR2405 and the TRBX may be closer to that. PS I know I know, why not getting an Ibanez SR to get that vibe? Because I cannot stand the look. The only Ibanez I like is really out of my budget. Don't get me wrong, they are pretty awesome instruments, but I cannot stand the looks. And I really like Yamaha.

I've had mine for some months and I think that, in order to get nice sounds, you have to tweak and work a lot. The good: once you have it, it's always there. In my case, I used to take with me a big board with 9-10 pedals in a heavy pedalboard. Now I have only 3 pedals: JHS Compressor, HX Stomp and my Ashdown preamp. I could live only with the HX stomp with good results too. So far, the only effect that I kinda miss is my Source Audio Aftershock, because I had already good presets on it. In the HX I'm still working on getting a good fuzz and overdrive (even though I found the Legacy Big Muff and I love it). But I think the HX stomp is not plug and play once you get it out of the box.

The 414 and the 1024x look pretty amazing. I'd love to have any of both 🤩

I have a question for the RM EVO II users. Just curious actually. Does the Output knob has "positions" like the EVO I or is it linear (like any ABM)?

I didn't know they were similar. I thought that in the NE2 were humbuckers and in the TRB1005J were single with the hum-cancelling. Both basses are pretty amazing anyway.

it might be also a mental factor. How good a 500 bucks bass can be compared to a 900 bucks? The feeling of moving to a higher end bass. I don't know. But I have to check one out. The v7 in blue is really tempting.
