  1. What cabs do you use? I'm thinking about getting 2 1x12 or 2 1x15. Thinking about Ashdown RM cabs
  2. Today I tried something very different in my RM. With the Shape In (and I usually hate it) I EQ with the following setting: Bass at 11, 240 at 2, Mid at 3, 1k5 at 1 and treble at 12. And I love it. It's a little less punchy, but it has the kind of vibe the ABM EVO II has. I'm really liking this settings with a jazz bass 😁
  3. I haven't openned it yet, so I cannot comment. What I can say is that all the knobs work. I now set the preamp with a little bit of bass and I cut some treble.
  4. Hi! I've finally ordered a Delano preamp with the selector switch. There's no much stock and the store is expecting to receive it this week or next week. As soon as I swap the preamp, I will let you guys know my thoughts
  5. I have the 735 and I had the 734. The feeling is good and I can notice when they are centered perfectly.
  6. I am getting the MS/E3, which has a 3 way switch to select the mid frequencies (300Hz, 500Hz and 800Hz). The bass is centered at 40Hz and the treble at 6.5kHz. The Glock was my second option. I will probably miss having the passive option. When I read about the treble in the Glock I thought exactly the same. However, people say that they do it that way to have more round highs. Since you are increasing the curve at 18kHz, you are creating a curve up to that is not that metallic sounding. Which can make sense, but I didn't have the chance to try it. I could try the Delano preamp and I liked it (that's why I chose it over the Glock).
  7. @skej21 these are some pretty cool videos. I've always been interested in the OP Amp Big Muff. I also had the Bass Big Muff and I liked it, but never found a place for it (and I love fuzzes). The one that I really love and that I regret selling was the big black one. It's the best muff I ever had. It sounded better IMO than the Green Russian.
  8. I have been playing my "new" BB605 and I have some thoughts about it: -The preamp still "meh". I set a little bass boost, a little treble cut and I don't touch the mids. It works and sounds nice. However, a Delano preamp is already coming. -I started liking the pickups. Not the best pickups (and will be replaced when I got the money) but they are nice. They sound very tight, a little bit compressed maybe. They are just fine. -It feels lighter than I expected. The shape is definitely smaller than other BBs I've tried. It's very comfortable to play and the neck feels great. It's more C shaped and feels bigger than the BB735, but it feels good. -The B string is really good. I don't know if it's because of the pickups, but it sounds focused and punchy. I tried a D'addario XL .130 and it sounded great. Now I have Dunlop Super Brights and the bass feels better, but the B string doesn't feel that good. Anyway, I think is a little bit better than the 735. Just a little, but it's the only aspect that I prefer the 605 to the 735. I'm pretty happy with the 605. I still prefer the 735 any day of the week, but the 605 is such a cool bass. Definitely a keeper.
  9. The main advantages that I get are: 1-It has a DI out. I have a stereo DI>Jack adapter too, in case I use the HX as a preamp. 2-It has exactly the sound I can get from the DI of the RM. It's a sound that I like and I'm familiar with. Besides that, I'm now gigging with my band with an acoustic set and I only use the preamp. Not the comp nor the HX. Said that. I've also used the HX as a single box solution. There are pretty nice preamps in the HX (the ones I like are the Ampeg SVT and the SVT4). I used to have a 9-10 pedals. Now I have these 3. The HX Stomp could replicate my entire pedalboard by itself (first thing that I've tried when I bought it), but for now, I only use it for effects.
  10. Hi guys, I'm just curious about how many people use external preamps with their HX Stomps. I think the Stomp comes with several good and usable preamps, but in my case, I prefer my Ashdown OriginAL to replicate my amp (Ashdown Rootmaster) when I don't use it. Anyone like me?
  11. Been trying different strings. There is nothing like the Dunlop Super Bright

I have one tapered set of regular Dunlops. I also like them (I don't think many people do)

    3. 40hz

      40hz

The best strings out there, pound for pound.

    4. gjones

      gjones

Sounds good on a P bass, for some growl and clank.

  12. Your EQ settings are really interesting. I have to experiment more. However, I use everything flat but the treble, which is at 10, in both my RM head and the OriginAL preamp. And it sounds punchy and how I like it. But it's true that I haven't experiment a lot with the EQ. I have a question about the RM head though. What I saw since the very beginning is that there is a red light that illuminates with the yellow VU. I understand that the red light is when it's clipping. But I think it comes too often. The VU niddle reaches the middle and it's clipping. I know I should not pay attention to the VU (and that I should trust my ears more) but I find it weird. I was talking to a friend the other day and he has a mibass 550 that does the same. I don't know if it's a common thing. What do you think guys? Ashdown told me that the RM has a lot of gain (than my ABM and the previous RM 420) and that is why it's clipping. But even with a low output jazz bass.
  13. That's a really cool setup! How is the EBS Classic?? I've been always tempted to get one. Wow!! What a beauty!! What is it??
  14. Man, I can't unsee it!! 😍
  15. @marleaux62wow!! it looks beautiful! You must record something for us!😍
  16. My two BBs
  17. Have you tried the Darkglass? I've never been a fan of the brand. I liked the Microtubes, but in the end it was too agressive. I know they have that "metal music" fame and they are good for other things. I've never listened to their onboard preamps, so I don't know.
  18. Yep, I already did. The strings were kinda dead.
  19. Now I'm more about Delano preamps than the Glock, but I'm still looking. I will look into Noll too! I don't know a lot of preamp manufacturers. I also like the Nordstrand, but they are hard to find in Spain. About pickups, I like the Delano JMVC 5 FE/M2 (with big poles). However, I'm more concerned about the preamp. It's what I'm changing first. I have to say that I've been talking to a couple of bassists who use the BB605 regularly (I follow them on Youtube and Instagram) and their tone with the bass is pretty amazing. And they haven't modded their basses.
  20. I have experienced that. For example, I prefer my Jazz bass over my BB735 for solo, but not in the mix. And I am one of those who like the BB735 preamp hahaha. I have not experienced with Delano, but I love how they sound on the Sandbergs. I am looking for a more modern sound, more humbucker-like. The EMGs look interesting too
  21. Well, it's finally here! My BB605 arrived today. I've been playing with it for 1 hour and this are my impressions: -I like the neck. It's really comfortable. I have to adjust it, but so far, it's really good. -The preamp is garbage. I hate it. I can see people liking it, but I'm not one of them. The knobs are ok I guess. -The overall sound: meh. I don't hate the pickups, but I don't love them either. I don't mind since I was already thinking about changing the preamp and the pickups. I like how it feels and plays. I can change the rest. Thinking about Glockenlang or Delano preamp. Or Aguilar. And Delano pickups.
  22. With these settings I think it sounds really cool. In a rehearsal there was a problem though. I was given a Fender Rumble 500 , so I plugged the Ashdown to the return of the amp. It didn't have enough signal since the input is relatively low. I have to say that I'd used it this way with other amps without any problems, but not with the Rumble. Anyway, when plugged through the DI it sounded awesome and no problem.
  23. I played yesterday in an acoustic vibe gig. I played with my Epi Jack Casady with flats and with the Ashdown Preamp. Nothing else. No amp, no pedals. I added a little bit of overdrive with the valve. I was really happy with the combination of the two. Vintage vibe. The soundguy came after the show to compliment how good the tone of the bass was.
  24. Cool pic! And thanks for the info. Actually, I already thought about changing the pickups and the preamp. I want to see if I like the stock ones, but I will probably put on some Delano pickups and I'm not sure about the preamp. I like the 3 band by Nordstrand, but I won't know until I got it. Anyway, my main bass will still be the BB735.
  25. Hello guys I've finally spotted a BB605 in that sexy red that I love. So, it's on its way. It should arrive next week. In the meantime, does any of you have one? I'd like to know more about the preamp and the pickups. I thought it was like the 735 but the switch affects the mids I think. Any experience/recommendation?
