Hi Sam! I must admit I'd heard a lot about the band but not much of the music. It was a brilliant night and always great to see a band totally relaxed, enjoying themselves and giving their best!

My brother bought a 1962 SG junior for a steal before the prices went silly. He was told it was a refin. The luthier (yes a real one who makes teles from scratch) who set it up it beford he bought it swears he didn't need to refin it and it's all original. Then the pots went scratchy. With 1962 codes on. My brother made me swap them for CTS ones "I want to play the damn thing, not look at it".

Just this one point... I know from experience that that crud can build up in just five years, and be removed surprisingly effectively.

Fingers crossed for Thursday... odd early evening gig but we've pushed the fact our frontman/guitarist was supporting Cardinal Black for a huge sellout gig on Saturday.

That's still pretty cheap, if you don't mind me saying 😀 Trick around here. £300 is pretty much the limit for most venues, you gave to accept that a pub or smaller club doesn't or can't get a huge audience.

I cropped the page quite a lot. All the missing information is on the original. Most sight readers would struggle to interpret 'Portrait of Tracey' with all the notes played as harmonics. To me the shortcomings of tab are lack of key information and not making chord inversions obvious. As I am incapable of retaining anysight reading skills for more than a day or so, I will make the best of tab. Sadly most tab is inaccurate (but then so are many of the traditional scores for bass I have painstakingly worked out a note at a time).

Your question is only easily answered if the cabs have the same drivers, ohm rating, and frequency response. In theory: Double power- add 3dB Double cone area- add 3dB Halve impedance- add 3dB (but only if amp can give double the power. Ten times power- add 10dB. Note: 3dB is typically enough for the untrained ear 'to hear a difference'. 10dB is 'twice as loud' (at mid range frequencies and average volumes). Bass needs about 10dB more to sound louder than just an octave higher (guitar) due to psycho-acoustic effects (loudness curve), which is one reason why bass amps need to be so powerful. The EASIEST way to sound louder is to get a more efficient drivers in a well designed cab, which is why some of the small, light modern cabs sound as loud as old fridge-sized 8x10 cabs.

I like my side dots (at fret positions) on fretless, I need them to be sure I'm in the right ballpark.

It's the 150 kV forcefield in between them that really helps keep the drunks at bay 😉

It's a lot of fun. I reckon it will be very giggable with the bass (uneffected) fairly high and a bit of the flat out fuzz just adding character.
