  1. I don't have an issue with playing songs people enjoy. Also I don't mind playing songs with boring basslines that let other band members have some fun. That said there are songs I don't enjoy, one is Feeling Good, because in one rehearsal I nailed a really fitting walking line for it, but I just can't repeat it.
  2. Lol! My brother resisted that song for ages, then eventually acceded because it is the drummer's favourite. They found a blast to play. When they did it at a big gig they managed to blow up the venue's PA 🤣
  3. Ugh. The Imperial Leather guitar.
  4. You wouldnt want the back of a Gretsch showing, with its stupidity pad.
  5. John Thomas? Didn't he pop up in Lady Chatterley's Lover?
  6. I've pretty much decided to use the MB-5 for my gig on Saturday. Just for some of the songs in the second set that lend themselves to low, slow lines.
  7. Ackshewerly, I rather like this...
  8. "Naughty, naughty. Very naughty!" 🙂
  9. It might be an unpopular opinion, but I'm unimpressed by how many of the other opinions expressed here are far from unpopular.
  10. I suspect the problem lies at the far end of the strings to the zero fret...
  11. A zero fret helps, but isn't fashionable.
  12. May I ask what's the point of a system that makes theopen string flat? 🤔
  13. Wulfpeck are... oh, it's unpopular opinions that are wanted.
  14. Ironic that he also appears on Soft Machines THIRD, a wonderful album but possibly one of the most inaccessible ever not withstanding Metal Machine Music and Zero Tolerance for Silence.
  15. They've all been republished in a sensible reading order with extra content. Shorter novellas combined into longer books. I've made a start with the first two Elric ones.
  16. Whatever you do, don't pogo.
  17. My dad has no interest in music, beyond once having some Klaus Wunderlich and his Amazing Organ lps. Sadly my mum, who once came to a Hawkwind concert with me and my brother and whose best friend ran the Lonnie Donegan fan club, never saw me gig and died in 1999, a few months older than I am now.
  18. No. There are basses I find ugly like the Vox with big slots in it and silly feet, or just unattractive, like the Warwick 'dildo', the G&L wart, Alembic's more ornate models and white Bongos and Rickenbackers just looking clumsy. But I'd never discount a bass for association with an individual*. *OK, I'll make an exception for Gene Simmons...
  19. Bad thumbs, often aggravated by viruses. I found boswellia extract (frankinsence) much more effctive than ibuprofen. But I've stopped using it after starting taking high strength chondroitin and glucosamine daily. Bass playing seems to help out as well.
  20. I was born in 62. I went to Uni in 1981. We used to fill a room and jam beatles songs from a tattered copy of 'The Beatles Complete'. We also traditionally sang Beatles songs at the end of our pub crawls.
  21. Well I like Jazz basses, and I can't think of a genre where one would be out of place. But I dont believe any bass is incapable of doing almost any style.
