1. My wife comes home from a business trip on Saturday and this really needs to sell....
2. An impulse purchase of a new Fender Acoustic bass means I need to move my lovely Ibanez onwards. It is about 2 years old, but looks new. :-) A couple of acoustic, jazzy gigs (which is what I bought it for) but it mostly gets played at home. No marks or scratches (of any significance). Lovely fat acoustic tone, pretty easy to play despite heavy strings and serious action! Sounds great unplugged with a woody growl when plugged in. Mahogany neck, with Rosewood fretboard, onboard SPT preamp with bass, treble, mid and shape controls. Phase switch, tuner and both 1/4" and XLR outputs. I hadn't really planned on selling this - but then again I didn't plan on buying the Fender yesterday so there you go! I paid £280 for this when new - so looking for £130 to recoup some cash for my last purchase. Doesn't include a bag, but I will include a new set of stings if you prefer a more zingy tone (current strings have a lovely motown thump to them). Will post (but would prefer not as its kinda delicate) - £25 or there abouts will get the bass to you. I will pack it nice and neatly in the box that my new Fender came in. Here are some pics.
3. Just did the 1st gig with my new (old) Overwater Perception. Love it! It's a 2006 and was originally made for Scott Devine. Has both a fretted and fretless neck. Such a simple and easy to play bass.

Timo

Bought an awesome Overwater bass from Tim. Cracking deal - and Tim even drove down to Reading to drop it off. Pleasure to do business with! :-)
5. Sold by '78 Jazz to Brian - very simple and easy transaction. Good communication and quick payment. Hope you enjoy my old bass. :-)
6. Price drop altert - plus hardcase included. I'm feeling generous. :-)
7. I need this bass in my life.... someone buy my '78 Jazz please!
8. Yeah Bass / Nature is April - I went to Music / Nature - which was 50% bass players and 50% other musicians. Personally, this was much better than having 60 bass players all hanging out together... and you still got Steve Bailey and Victor Wooten teaching you..
9. If you book your flights nowish - but choose a flexible ticket; maybe you can move it forward a week / day once you know? I don't know whether that would be cheaper than buying closer to the time. I booked mine in January for May; which is fairly far in advance for me!
10. http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=Q0d3-9mH1l8 Made a short clip of me playing the jazz - 1st thing in the morning so please excuse the bum notes... both pickups on full; recorded through Korg Pandora into iMovie.
11. Lots of pics of camp here - https://www.facebook.com/wootenwoods?ref=ts&fref=ts
12. I would love to go again! They didn't publish the dates till early Jan last year... but it is usually the same week.
13. I took a pretty lightweight hardcase (moulded case) - figuring it was light enough to 'carry on' - but sturdy enough to go in the hold. Anyways - come to camp next year - it's AWESOME! :-)
14. I just put the original Fender bridge back on it and a set of new strings in preparation...
15. WIth BA - Heathrow to JFK then JFK down to Nashville (with American Airlines). Bass went in a hardcase as hand luggage. Didn't have any problems with all four legs of the journey. Plenty of people flying to Nashville with guitars so then were cool with it. Be prepared for it going in the hold though...
16. Just had this baby on the scales and its a mighty 5kg - no idea if that is heavy for a jazz. My Thumb BO4 weighs 4.5kg and that only half the bass in size!
17. I took a bass - pretty easy to fly with gear these days! Not much time for shopping to be honest; and the stresses of having an unfamiliar instrument would be too much!
18. I don't have any unaccompanied recordings - but you can hear it http://www.starnow.co.uk/media/327395-TheSoupthings+Sampler hear in a band setting... apologies for the quality of bass playing! :-)
19. Have to check on the weight in the morning - I would say it's 'average' for an old Fender. Reassuringly heavy tone and build. All my basses are named after muppet show characters... hence Janice. :-) Sticker will be removed prior to sale!
20. -------------------- Worth less than a sum of it's PARTS! '78 neck is at least £500 and Nordstrand Pickups £150 '83 body at least £200.... I will even through in a moulded fender hardcase.... what more could you ask for! -------------------- After recently acquiring a Warwick thumb and seeing Steve Bailey play in incredible fretless 6 CS thing - I need more Warwick in my life.. so I need to make some room on the wall and in the bank account... Up for sale is my beloved 78 / 83 Fender jazz. Bought from another BCer in 2010 (I think) - and it's been well cared for. :-) As talked about in the Fender Bass book (page 79). A transitional Fender Jazz, '78 neck - dot and bound fingerboard, three bolt neck joint and headstock adjust. 1978 decal and serial number on headstock 'S 8' - body most likely early 80's. The book confirms that builders CBS used parts to deplete all inventories in the factories. A rare build! It's had a few different pickup configurations, it had active EMG's (no additional routing or batteries) which were then swapped them out for all passive Nordstrand NJ4SV's which are awesome. Condition is generally very good. Has knocks on the body, but nothing too bad. The top neck area has some marks on three of the frets. Appears to be in the lacquer, does not affect play, and doesn't feel bad (see pics). It was recently serviced and setup by a local luthier and it's a great bass. Replacement schaller bridge fitted (actually I just put the original Fender one back on), and one of the tuner pegs is a schaller too - but it's all good! Looking for offers around £749 - and I'll include posting in that if you like! Based in Hampshire if you wanna pop over and take a pop.
21. This looks LOVELY.... how broad is the broadneck? I have a Thumb BO4 - how much wider would it be?
22. you should dude - it was AWESOME. I learnt so much from Victor and his brothers. And just the experience of being IN music for a whole week was out of this world!
23. I just recently started playing in a duo (me playing bass and singing) and a singer / guitarist; and this has made me realise how much the audience rely on the 'band' to put on a show. As the singer is mostly tied to his mic - it's up to me to put on a show... next gig I was thinking about wearing a skirt and dancing around like a loon. That would work right?
24. See - I have been suffering from Sandberg lust for quite a while; especially their 'aged' models - so I took a rock and some sandpaper to one of my Fenders, applied a sticker or 2 and voila! Lust abated... for a short while anyways... The question is - is 'good enough' really good enough? For me - Yes!
