    I was disappointed, because I loved the twist of putting binding on a dot neck. Good luck in finding your bass.

    Forget the plate; you have what looks like an authentic yet stripped late '80s Rick 4003.

    It probably began life like this 1986 model. Note it also has the 7-screw bridge, which appeared for several years before Rickenbacker bowed to the cork-sniffing purists and reverted to the inferior 5-screw unit.

    It does decode as July 1988. I'd wager this bass was pillar box red at one point. Interesting to see the 7-screw tailpiece.

    I played the arctic frost white one in GG earlier this year and I was seriously considering purchasing it....until I played it. I really didn't like the sound of it; it seemed weak, unlike any '62 I played. Plus, I think there was some tall fret issue going on. Could have been that bass but it put me off. Do try one first.

    If it's a real Rick the plate should read 'Standard' and 'Rick-o-Sound'. That said, Rick jack plates have been known to be swapped out. Let's see some pix, please.

    Reminds me of shitty, working-mens' club gigs when I was a teenager getting signed in. I can almost smell the Chicken in a Basket! He's fkd off the electronic bass drum doof that he had and has gone for the Bonzo look now.
