My first proper rig was a HHIC 100S head with 2x15 cabs, I’ve never seen one of those amps before though , looks cool
SAME! I coveted one for years. It looked so much sexier than my WEM Dominator MkII. By the time I got the money together for the rig, HH had done away with the 2 x 15" cab with the clip-on front, something that I really wanted, But I bought the newer model to go with the IC100S. I removed the wheels and stuck them on the side to use the cab as a trolley for gear! 😆
Those Bass Machines were HH's attempt to make the amp look like the Acoustic rigs (Jaco, JPJ) that were popular back then.

Has anyone else found his youtube yet... he explains the reasons for his mods on his videos and it all makes perfect sense now... he's absolutely insane 🤣
https://www.youtube.com/@markphillips573I see his magnum opus - a Night in Langney - is still up there.

I'm sure, in a previous discussion on this beast, that someone on here said they used to cart one around on public transport!

Yes, that's right...you guessed it...Mr Mark D Phillips...
"This might be the last special custom guitar I put together for a while..."
That hasn't stopped him botching stuff though...check the E string at the bridge.
Why??

There you go! I can't believe 10 grams matter! I must say, it's not like the bass was neck diving before. It would slide from angled up to horizontal every now and then. Just enough though to trick my brain into resting the wrist on the body to hold it, as I don't rest my thumb on the pickup.
In fact, maybe more than perfect balance I am looking for slightly body-heavy..
'Perfect balance'......Hmmmm. I wonder if someone who promotes this on his 'builds' is reading this?

I can honestly say I had it hung round my neck for over two hours straight last night and I did not notice the weight.
I do use a wide Gruvgear strap, but I believe it is the perfect balance of the bass makes it work.
Ahhhh, that reminds me of someone....

Aye took me a good minute to find the right spot for it. For some reason when I took the neck off to touch up the truss rod, upon putting it back the intonation specifically on the E was right out. All the other strings were note perfect still! The nut is perfectly fine, no catching, plenty of winds on the string, neck relief ideal and the action in the right spot, it just needed pulling much further forward than I anticipated to get it intonated at the 12th and across the board. Not sure why, but if it works it works! If anyone more savvy than me has additional info as to why only the E would be out of intonation like that, do let me know.
Actually, I had that issue on an acoustic bass guitar. It did indeed turn out to be the string!

Nice bass. Interesting intonation on the E.

this is a warmoth bass i put together with a moses graphite neck and an original 2Tek bridge. i really love it and think it looks very cool.
sounds great, plays great.
but i just finished painting a bass and i enjoyed the process so much i want to do it again.
what do you think? Yellow with matching headstock? Candy apple red?
or just leave it? Maybe get a fancy new pickguard?
I'd leave it. It looks great.

HW. Or, more likely, the other guy, whose name escapes me.

I'm pretty sure that Jon Anderson said that he just liked the sound of certain words so I don't think that many Yes songs that he wrote the lyrics for are about anything in particular
You can be him!

Sounds to me like there’s more going on with that neck than just a poorly built bass
have you had the neck off to see if it’s been shimmed wrong?
Is the truss rod maxed out or just spinning?1+ to check neck pocket shim.

I sold my Series II in the mid '90s, just when I started really getting into Jazz basses. The Status had been with me since '86 and suddenly, one day, I fell out of love with it and sold it to a guy in a guitar shop who was desperate for it. About a year later, he offered to sell it back to me but I declined. It wasn't until the early/mid 2000's that I began hankering after it again. After much seeking, I found it on Statii. I remember contacting the owner, asking him if he'd consider selling it, and he pretty much said 'no chance'. C'est la vie.

I had a Series II back in the '80s/'90s and have often thought about getting another Status, but not at these prices.
