Is there an easy way to tell the difference between a PB70 and a PB70US??

The tuners on the PB70US are essentially the same as those on a US P bass. The non-export Japanese PB70 has tuners with a smaller footprint. Another difference is the pickups, but that is not a difference that would be easy to tell without a closer inspection.

As others have said, you can’t really go wrong with a MIJ or CIJ instrument.

  2. Try and surface the problems openly and quickly, otherwise things just fester. Compromise is often possible if the real issue(s) is understood. Sometimes though folks just don’t see that it’s worth it and walk.

Sadly, I’ve experienced a few band line up changes and they were all disruptive to some extent.

remember back in the 1960s my parents gave an old wooden-framed piano to the local church's summer fete for a piano smashing contest, where two teams each with a piano completed to smash up them up with sledgehammers, the first to pass theirs all through a 1 foot square wins.

I’m pretty sure the same “game” was on regional contests of “It’s A Knockout” back in the day. Sacrilege or recycling?

  4. Basschat is a great site in general and, in particular, a relatively safe marketplace to buy/sell stuff.

Unfortunately, the extra import costs linked to purchase value makes it such that the prospect of snagging bargains is long gone for me………which is a real shame.

Bargains are still there for EU-based BC members to other members located within the EU and, of course, for UK-based members from those BC members also based in the UK. Probably two largely separate mini-markets within BC marketplace.

That’s as close as a politically correct answer to the reality, which is hassle, extra cost and probably buckets of frustration..

Thanks, how do you find the battery life on this?

Transmitter is on a small pedalboard with supplied power. Receiver still works fine after 3 hours and can be charged via the docking station on the transmitter, even independent of supplied power. I have not used the rig in one session beyond 3 hours, to be fair.

There seems to be a big gap in the market for reasonably priced 5.8ghz wireless units.

I use this as back up. Seems to fit the bill at £100 ………but have never had to test it out except in rehearsals.

I….. just find the barrage of emails, videos, incentives and constant presence overbearing and irritating. But that’s more about me than SBL.

I am with you on the constant barrage of communications. I just found the whole thing far too intense.

There’s no doubt that he has talent and anybody that commits to passing on that talent to others in the form of tuition should get our support. It’s just that his methodology grates on me personally.

  8. I find that an HPF in the chain does improve my sound. Some of the merits claimed in the video are more significant (or discernible) than others, but I have no doubt there are multiple benefits to the use of HPF and LPF’s.

I wonder why more preamp pedals do not routinely include variable filter controls as standard. I use a Genzler ReQ on a small pedal-board where I can vary each filter frequency or by-pass, as required.

  9. The Genzler pedals are great. I use one (4 On The Floor) as an “always on”, together with a Genzler Re-Q.

I have  found that this combination can cope with almost any eq and drive challenges in the bands that I play in.

The music styles that I play don’t call for extreme drive requirements, but Genzler has that covered as well (Crash Box 4, I believe).
