  1. I have a road worn and switched just the body to a classic lacquer and it did not sound the same! Something special about the road worn body. I’ve since switched it back...
  2. i sold my bb734a that i got used for $570 US and that took a while and i had a lot of low offers. some under $400! it was brand new condition. it seems people dont want to spend over $550 for it...
  3. they're made of the crushed dreams of recycled yamaha keyboard keys
  4. here's the predecessor to the SR800
  5. you dont have to imagine. look at the BB2024SK i posted above.
  6. i found my answer. the bridge pickup is alnico instead of ceramic. his sound is very bridge pickup centric so that makes sense. he also specified pointer markers under the knobs like the BB1200 and BB2000, etc had.
  7. BB2024 not available in white. Only BB2024X
  8. That’s how I ended up with 3 BB1200. Has as anyone played the BB2024SK? Not sure how it’s different from standard BB2024 besides the color.
  9. I have plenty of PJ bases so not interested in the 2000 and 1024. Also not interested in the 1024 because of the pickups and the configuration of the P pickup. 2 of my three BB1200 are very good condition and cost me about that much. One came with the original case in very good condition. No duct tape on the handle even. The third one has some scratches here and there and cost less.
  10. Wouldn’t a bb1200 or bb2000 be better than a 1024 for that amount? edit, never mind, I missed that it was a 1025...
  11. The grain on that fretboard is wooderful.
  12. the bb1200 sounds much closer to a bb1200s than a bb300 but they are all similar. the 734a sounds quite different. i'm only basing this on playing 3 bb300, a bb450 (doesn't sound like the others at all), a bbVI (this sounds similar to a bb300), 3 bb1200, 4 bb1200s and 2 734a though. a wider sampling may prove otherwise...
  13. the bb300 sounds more like classic new order than the 734a. peter hooks sound has evolved.
  14. Just get a BB300 and call it a day.
  15. are you able to play it before buying?
  16. what's wrong with a 35 year old bass?
  17. daddarios have colored ball ends. black green red gold i think

  19. Possibly elixirs https://www.premierguitar.com/articles/ibanez-offers-elixirs-1 They used to point out “elixir equipped”in catalogs
  20. 1000s - early to mid 80s? 1100s - mid 80s? 1200s - 82-85ish? 1100s has unpainted bolt on neck with rosewood fretboard and dot markers. Some were made in Japan, some in Taiwan. There were two different kinds of bridges and two different regular p/j pickup sets. The first version had the smooth plastic surround on the p pickup like a bb450. The bridge pickup was like a fender jazz bass pickup. The second version had no surround on the p pickup and the bridge pickup had a unique shape There is no bb1100 and the bb1000 doesn’t really relate to the bb1000s. The bb1200s is the same as a bb1200 with active preamp. The easiest way to see differences is to just google the model numbers and look at the images that result.
  21. 1200s is active, single reverse p pickup with 5 piece maple mahogany neck through, ebony fretboard and oval markers colors were deep green and burgundy. 1000s is passive, reverse pj with 3 ply maple mahogany neck through, rosewood fretboard and dot markers. colors were brown stain and persimmon red.
