Are you sure this is "embarrassed, ashamed" or "where can we get more gigs with young ladies throwing themselves at us? “.

off to New York next week...Music stores?

in that case, you probably aren't buying a guitar while you're over there? Rudy's and the other Sam Ash shops are all close together. Guitar Center might also be worth a look, thinking about it. The always had some nice stuff there too - non-US MTDs, Lakland Skylines a few Pedulla Buzz and Modulus Quantum basses, and sometimes some nice second hand stuff. Service in there isn't the best, but not too bad once you have someone's attention. Rudy's were fine with me playing an "expensive" bass in there as well, so it's worth a visit. Sadowsky may be more out of your way though, and probably not worth the trip unless you are seriously thinking about buying one at some point. What I would massively recommend is, if you're there on a Monday night, head to the Blue Smoke/Jazz Standard to hear the Mingus Big Band. They have a residency there every Monday. And the food there is very tasty "southern" style cooking, and a big selection of very nice beer. http://www.bluesmoke.com So I was looking at this and just went to the Monday night Jazz Standard show. I'm not a jazz fan or afficianado but it was amazing. The drummer used to play with Dizzy Gillespie. The pianist was amazing. Etc etc. Really cool! -
I think that is its benefit. Money paid = commitment.

Sure. I think he has done an amazing thing. Especially from a business point of view. All power to his elbow. However maybe he could do two versions of the videos. 5 minutes and 50 minutes!
-
I think there is no doubt that the first five weeks made a difference to me. I think the whole thing is a great idea. Would just be helpful if say you were going to dedicate 2 hours a week that that was 7 15 minute practices and a 15 minute video! I just fast forward the videos now. Do the exercises.
-
I am on week 7. I think it's pretty good but the videos are waaaaaaaay too long. 52 minutes for this one. If I practise technique for 15 minutes a day it makes an appreciable difference. So ideally the videos would be 10 minutes and then crack on with the practise.

I am wondering about one as a backup amp. Anyone got one yet?!

Shame all the dates are down south......!!

I think he said exporting!? But I didn't really hear him properly.

Can I bring a new or second hand bass back from US?
roblpm replied to BassYerbouti's topic in General Discussion
I'm going to the states next week. Remarkably the Quilter Bass Block I am interested in (that is over the allowance anyway) is cheaper from Thoman in Germany than it is in the USA even if it was duty free! At 1.30 dollars to the pound I am not sure I am going to bringing much back....... -
A comprehensive answer! I was actually starting to think about something that was completely different to my jazz. Pj etc. But all great suggestions thanks.
-
Examples? Not necessarily a j retro. Actually in a way better if not a j at all. You mean like a Sub Ray?
-
PS which yamaha do you have?
-
Yes thanks. Not gonna touch the main bass! I just want to play with something! Yamaha might be a possibility?
-
Thanks. Haven't looked at cort
-
Is it not also an advantage to have a lot of knobs for for the east preamp?
-
There's a sire for sale on here. I am violently allergic to Sunburst though!
-
Yes that was my thought. Any competition? Maybe not!
-
I am an intermediate bass player. Got myself a nice second hand 2012 USA Fender Jazz. Sounds pretty good. I think i am going to leave it alone. So I am obviously thinking about what's next......!!!!! I am also skint so more fun thinking than doing at the moment. My teacher has an old bass with a John East Preamp. Sounds great. So I am thinking trying active. Install John East when I have saved up. Maybe add low noise pickups. Basically a bass to muck about with. Trouble is it has to be white. Or I suppose maybe natural. Which might limit the choice to new. So new Sire? Any suggestions? I obviously have a Jazz sound. I would like this to be general purpose lots of different options. Oh yes preferably under £500.

Your favourite (famous - e.g. mainstream) music videos
roblpm replied to EBS_freak's topic in General Discussion
Fantastic video. I know we aren't supposed to be mentioning the music but I have never recovered from hearing the Paul Oakenfold mix of this in Picadilly Records (staffed by members of 808 state) in Manchester in 1991. Life has been a constant disappointment since that moment...... -
Great thanks. I think it will be fine but needs going over..... Do you think that might explain the click on power up as well? Any ideas of best amp techs?
-
Hmmmm. So tried effect send out which is next stage. Fine..... But then thought I bet it is a contact problem or something. So guess what whole thing is fine. Has a nasty click turning on when muted though. Which wasn't there before. So something not right.....
-
OK. Good shout. That's fine. (and actually all instructive as to how the thing actually works!). I have seen other threads with complaints about the Fx sockets and last night when I used a jack cable between the out and in it did seem to fix the problem for a moment before it came back. So either them or the power amp?
-
Great thanks. I better not try it all now......
-
So i tried that stuff. The level on the power amp seems very low when fed from the effects return. Then the effects in to the mixer sounded fine. Then didn't..... Then I tried back with the speaker. There is a nasty click when turning on even with the mute selected on the amp. And this time sort of pulsing noise......! I think i give up. Needs looking at. I have messaged Polar. In the meantime I think i need a backup amp..........
