  1. Love them. Except mine will be white!
  2. Wow that's great. I need to look at the other forum. I tend to just browse the bass one at the moment.
  3. Aha. Yes. I can do that. But I don't think that's as much fun. I fancy a frankenstein bass.....
  4. I know that..... So maybe start with something.... And improve over time!
  5. Following a conversation with Beedster in the for sale forum here are my thoughts..... Any suggestions? I am just about to change career (again) so am going to go from OK to poor! So this needs to be on a budget of less than £500 which is impossible! I am one of those people who don't like brands! So here we go: I already have a passive jazz. So gasing for something that sounds different but doesn't have a massive neck. Spec would be: No labels. Anonymous. Jazz style neck. Pj config (or I suppose like a Stingray one humbucker) Excellent pickups. Active. Maybe John East. Badass or other good bridge Olympic white Mint green pick guard Lightish weight So obviously I could buy a Sire P7. But that's no fun...... What can I do?
  6. But it didn't look like the same black..... Looked all dark black! Anyway I bow to your superior knowledge. How do you find yours? I have a passive jazz and am thinking about something to compliment it.
  7. Having been turned into a bb nerd by this thread I noticed Peter Hook with a new looking all black BB in the BBC bass programme. Looked like a 734a but all dark black. Not a BBP as 5 knobs. Hook signature model?! Guitar, Drum and Bass, Series 1: 2. On Bass... Tina Weymouth!: www.bbc.co.uk/iplayer/episode/m00023xl via @bbciplayer
  8. Great thread. Lots of conversation about the onstage monitor angle. Not so much discussion about what preamp/di setup people are using? I am thinking minimal.....! I have Behringer BDI21 which is I suppose as minimal as there is....! Anyone just using HX Stomp?
  9. More pics. Review. Thoughts etc would be good.......
  10. Yes come on. Advertise it.....
  11. What are you using as a preamp? I have a bass rig. However I have a couple of QSC K10s from a previous life. (not the point 2). I am thinking that instead of a backup bass amp for gigging I can stick one in the car. Just need to figure the pre. Considering saving up for an HX Stomp.
  12. You have passed the first test. I am on a few forums where students post questionnaires, people fill them in and the student never returns to thank them or discuss. So rule one is keep coming back.......
  13. Actually didn't go too well. There was some kid in the bass area showing off ostentatiously even though he wasn't brilliant. Sat right in the way. So had a browse and left!
  14. I'm in NYC now. Went to the location of "Do The Right Thing" this morning. Amazing even if it is just a street in Brooklyn. Then off to look for all the places my ancestors lived. So lots of personal interest. Tbh it's really just a grimier version of London. Though I did have an amazing Pastrami sandwich earlier from Zabars. Maybe you don't like big cities?
  15. My fault. But the recommendation for the jazz night was on this thread and still worked out perfectly.
  16. Are you sure this is "embarrassed, ashamed" or "where can we get more gigs with young ladies throwing themselves at us? “.
  17. in that case, you probably aren't buying a guitar while you're over there? Rudy's and the other Sam Ash shops are all close together. Guitar Center might also be worth a look, thinking about it. The always had some nice stuff there too - non-US MTDs, Lakland Skylines a few Pedulla Buzz and Modulus Quantum basses, and sometimes some nice second hand stuff. Service in there isn't the best, but not too bad once you have someone's attention. Rudy's were fine with me playing an "expensive" bass in there as well, so it's worth a visit. Sadowsky may be more out of your way though, and probably not worth the trip unless you are seriously thinking about buying one at some point. What I would massively recommend is, if you're there on a Monday night, head to the Blue Smoke/Jazz Standard to hear the Mingus Big Band. They have a residency there every Monday. And the food there is very tasty "southern" style cooking, and a big selection of very nice beer. http://www.bluesmoke.com So I was looking at this and just went to the Monday night Jazz Standard show. I'm not a jazz fan or afficianado but it was amazing. The drummer used to play with Dizzy Gillespie. The pianist was amazing. Etc etc. Really cool!
  18. I think that is its benefit. Money paid = commitment.
  19. Sure. I think he has done an amazing thing. Especially from a business point of view. All power to his elbow. However maybe he could do two versions of the videos. 5 minutes and 50 minutes!
  20. I think there is no doubt that the first five weeks made a difference to me. I think the whole thing is a great idea. Would just be helpful if say you were going to dedicate 2 hours a week that that was 7 15 minute practices and a 15 minute video! I just fast forward the videos now. Do the exercises.
  21. I am on week 7. I think it's pretty good but the videos are waaaaaaaay too long. 52 minutes for this one. If I practise technique for 15 minutes a day it makes an appreciable difference. So ideally the videos would be 10 minutes and then crack on with the practise.
  22. I am wondering about one as a backup amp. Anyone got one yet?!
