  2. A sad bass related day today. My 1976 (first year of production) Musicman Stingray Fretless Bass is leaving my studio for the last time. During the pandemic, after really getting deep into the playing, style, tone & bass history of Pino I sought out a standard fretless Stingray from anywhere. After nearly biting the bullet & getting a custom EBMM fretless from them directly this wonderful bass popped up after I placed a wanted ad on Facebook. I looked over it for a week & got it on the way to me. A perfect bass for what I was looking at and at the time, an instrument I couldn’t put down! Studio sessions & some live work with it too. This bass was the sound of Feralman Music the artist's set & such a distinct bass sound for his tracks live. It was used twice live with him & the band, numerous rehearsals, numerous recording sessions too. This was the bass’s first artist appearance for myself. As time went on I got more and more reluctant to take it out in public, along with the actual need of this sound live/in the studio. Plus a new addition from Overwater basses really covers the sounds needed for a MM Stingray and in the form of extra low notes too. It’s definitely a regret that I felt almost instantly & still do but needs must & this bass is one that I feel needs to be played. Maybe one day it will make its way back around to me (fingers crossed) but definitely a special bass & leaves me with just one "vintage" bass going forward & an empty slot on my guitar rack too. 12. Really enjoying online teaching with some post graduate & international students at the moment!

  13. Yes. After reading through a few times and again not seeing any names associated with each review or article it does seem a bit suspicious
  14. Received my copy of Issue 1 today, Nothing you wouldn't find online but nice to have something in print. A few adverts here & there from the usuals but seems decent. I've heard a few murmurings around where they are getting the basses from to review from a pal who's been in contact with them but nothing solid. All the images from the reviews are stock and funnily there's no names attached to any of the articles either.
  15. They are nice, sound great too
  16. Recently purchased two covers from them. RRP for the 2 - £98 plus £10 for the printing. Very robust feeling and great padding. Equally as good as or better than the Aguilar ones which are now discontinued. They do feel that they could take a good knock and offer good protection with the thickness.
  17. I'm out! Technical term is biffed it I think? Aguilar Cabs & TH500 Had to pay some nominal fees & percentage of the actual cost of the RRP
  18. I am very proud to say I am now an endorsee for Aguilar Amplification! A huge thank you specifically to Pete from their UK distribution Barnes & Mullins!

Can you feed back to them that 40hz centre for Bass control is way too low to be usable as anything but a cut? 😉

  20. Can’t wait to see it! I know we’ve discussed the spec previously & it’s going to be an amazing instrument
  21. It's arrived! I've made a a separate NBD post over here
  22. It's here! After a little wait & as usual, exquisite luthier work by the team at Overwater Basses & continued support. We have an Overwater Custom J5 Fretless with a few custom options. 35" Scale Walnut top & headstock facing Swapping out the bridge position J pickup and dropping in a Musicman pickup. Added passive tone control (as usual for myself) Luminlay sidedots This bass was specced & delivered very quickly for a specific tour to start shortly this year. It was commissioned due to the need of a 5 string fretless bass for quite a few tracks. Have two fretless basses in my collection already - 1976 Musicman Stingray & an early 1970's P Bass. Both four strings so not ideal for the job. I would like to send my thanks to Kirsty, Martin, Chris & the whole team at Overwater Basses for the amazing basses they make daily & for the continued support from the company also. Full Specification - 5 String 35” Scale Length Neck - Standard Bolt On One Piece Maple Straight Headstock with Walnut Veneer Fretless (24 fret neck) 46mm Nut Width 18mm Bridge Spacing Plain Unlined Ebony Fingerboard Luminlay Side Dots Body - Swamp Ash Walnut Top Electronics - Active Overwater 3 Band + Passive Tone Control Pickups - Overwater Jazz Single Coil + Musicman Humbucker Locking Jack Hardware - Overwater Bridge Hipshot Hardware in Black Satin Natural Lacquer Finish
  23. Can anyone identify these tuners I’ve just found. I know they’re Hipshot Ultralight's but not the exact model

Looks like a HB6C 1/2" in matt chrome?

The 1/2" is a guess; you'll need to measure the string post diameter to establish if it's a 1/2 or a 3/8.
