Wasn’t that one known as the black label, from 93-97 ish and had the strat style knobs 

there was a thread on those once, not sure where it is now

Vaseline will deaden the string, I’ve done it and it definitely works, a Sean Hurley tip 

To widen my bass vocabulary I started learning some jamerson songs a few years ago, it wasn’t until I started breaking them down that I realised just how great he really was, and to play them with one finger is remarkable

I’ve got an LB30 and they are pretty nice, imo there’s not a massive amount of eq , it’s more subtle I’d say ,but it has a very nice tone of its own , I’ve also got a pf50t which is very different , it has that Ampeg sound and is a lot more versatile, they are both very good

That’s a great song and yeah there’s many versions, if I’m not mistaken I think the original is by Carlton &the shoes, I’ll have a look at the 90s releases 

Good one here from Don, guess the Flabba Basslines , I’ve got a few already and know more, just got to think of them 

I would try pauls suggestion above, and have a close look at the frets snorkie,

I’m guessing it’s something minor, I’ve had so many jazzes and precision’s over the years and none have had any dead spots ,despite what some may say it’s not common in my experience of them
