To me it means being able to respect yourself as a person and a musician whatever the music is that you are playing.. Whether other people feel I have any musical integrity is a secondary concern. Personally, I'm very happy as I think I have 3 out of 3 at the moment. Using Scoop's music integrity calculator: 1) is the music good? - Great; I get to play Bowie, Prince, Killers etc.. How can it not be? 2) are the guys in the band a good laugh? - We're always having a laugh, especially during the gigs! 3) is the money good? - My music hobby pretty much pays for itself, so that's OK in my book. And long may it continue!

mr_russ had a LM11 I think and now he uses a GK1001RB, so he'd be a good person to comment on this...

Buy it now! They're discontinued and they don't come up for sale that often, so it'll be an investment as well as a great bass to play and own.

What feels right and what sounds right should come first. After that, looks come into it I suppose but for me, it's never been the brand of a bass or bass amp, it's the sound that matters. I used to have a '66 Fender Jazz which cost me a lot of money 15 years ago but I sold it on because I didn't like the sound of it, nor the way it played. In fact, I much prefered the sound and feel of the '84 Tokai Jazzsound that I had.. Having said all that, I do have a Wal, so I'm probably a bass snob just by virtue of owning that

Having had both a Lakland DJ5 and a SR5, I think the first thing to say is that they are very different basses. The Lakland string spacing is 19mm and I think the SR5 is something like 17-18mm. doesn't soun dlike much but it is when you play it. Also, the DJ5 is a 35" neck as opposed to the SR5, which is 34" scale. The SR5's I've played have all had excellent low B's but then so did the DJ5. Problem is, with basses that are this different in feel, it'd be best to try before you buy.. but I realise that isn't always possible. I've also had a chance to play on a USA G&L2500 and one of the Tribute models too and they are great basses. More versatile tonally than the SR5 and I personally prefered that. From a value for money point of view, I don't think you could beat the Tribute L2500. Good luck with it!
