  1. Ah, this thread has really made me laugh... 😂 And there was me thinking all these years that bass players, of all the muso stereotypes, were the respectful, thoughtful, intelligent, accepting Folk ... But no. What a moany bunch of hateful, hobbity, gollumy bass players we all are.... 😁🤣 Having said that, and especially after earlier mention of the awful cod-reggae forced on the entire worId by UB40, I can't believe we've got 8 pages into this thread without no one mentioning the entire back catalogues of: Jamiroqouai and Vulfpeck Hearing 'music' (potential Trade Descriptions Act warning here) by either of those 2 cod-funk peddlers leaves me utterly, utterly cold and makes me despair... Just my opinion of course, but a I reckon that a drum machine, a sequencer and a vocoder left alone in a darkened studio for a couple of days, could create music with more emotion than either of those 2 faux-funk bands.. And to continue in this grumpy vein, I also think most solo albums by 'virtuoso' bass players should be consigned to Room 101. Right, I'll get my coat now and exit quickly....
  2. Stunning! Yet another briansbrew beauty... Where did you/do you find them all, Brian? GLWTS 👍😊
  3. Hi @Plusnine Thanks for your kind words and offer of a trade... Your SBV looks great; very cool, retro vibes. But having said that, it's not something I have a need of at the moment as it's similar to a Jazz bass tonally I understand, and I recently bought one of those which I'm really happy with... Sorry and best of luck with your sale! Cheers Nik
  4. Oh my, what a bass, what a story!! We've all been there - well I have, that's for sure... So, I feel your pain @Devers95, I really do. Anyway, it looks like a beautiful instrument and best of luck with the sale!
  5. Couldn't agree more.. I'm really surprised this is still here, especially at such a reasonable price point. GLWTS
  6. Thanks Lukasz That's perfect... How much would it be including shipping to SG19 2LT? Thanks Nik
  7. Hi there @Lukasz Chyla I'm interested in your case... Please can you tell me how deep it is? Many thanks, Nik
  8. Wow - 2 more weeks gone by since I last bumped this bass.. 😮 So here's an Easter BUMP for this classic P Bass! 😎 Happy to entertain sensible offers.. or even, interesting trades (quality cabs, short scale bssses etc..) 👍 Thanks for looking and Happy Easter!
  9. That's a stunning looking bass, Brian! Looks like it's very well made too... GLWTS
  10. Had the pleasure of meeting @rambam, aka Roy, on Friday to buy his amazing Mesa Carbine from him. Had to laugh when I noticed, sitting there unobtrusively in Roy's man cave, was a Handbox all-valve beauty of an amp (that's recently been bought here on Basschat), that's replacing the Carbine... ... Such is the gear merry-go-round here on Basschat! 😁 That aside, Roy's a great person to deal with - great comms, very welcoming and his gear is extremely well looked after!.. So, very highly recommended to one and all here on the forum. 👍 Gotta also say that he's a fine player, with a couple of fab basses on display, including a stunning vintage Ricky! Very GAS inducing... As for the Carbine - it's absolutely great thank you Roy, and I can't wait to gig it soon. Thanks again and all the best, Cheers Nik
  11. Wow - another week gone by. So... To celebrate Man Utd actually showing a bit of fighting spirit for once this season, here's a Sunday evening BUMP for this cool, classic P Bass! 😎 Happy to entertain sensible offers by the way.. 👍
  12. Thanks Andy, T'was my pleasure , Sir! The proceeds have gone towards the costs of a recent addition to my (should be shrinking, but is in fact, growing) bass collection... 😁😊
  13. Hi Folks, I recently sold an Ampeg Classic Analog Bass Preamp to Andy, aka @badger and discovered in the process that he doesn't have a Feedback thread, so I thought I'd do the righteous thing and start one for him. So, just to say that Andy is a great person to deal with, and that this transaction was completely hassle-free, thanks in no small part to his excellent comms, fast payment, and easy going nature... Based on my experience, I'd say that you can deal with Andy in absolute confidence, Folks. 👍 Thanks again Andy and I hope you enjoy the pedal! Cheers Nik
  14. That's stunning! And not seen too often around these parts (as the saying goes). Best of luck with the sale.. 👍😊
  15. So, another day, another Mrsa Boogie deal with John, aka @Captain Rumble 😁 To explain briefly... A few weeks ago, John bought my Mesa Boogie M-Pulse from me and was kind enough to wait until yesterday, when I was able to deliver it to him in person. As ever, it was a pleasure dealing with John who is a long-standing Basschatter and a credit to this fine forum. Excellent comms, super-fast payment and lots of great bass and muso stories to share, even in a 15 minute meeting in a pub car park! 😁 All I can say is, you can deal with John with absolute confidence, Folks... It was great to see you again John and I hope you enjoy the amp! Cheers, and here's to the next time. Nik P. S. It was great to meet Mrs Captain Rumble too... 😊
  16. Thanks @Merton, and right back at you, as the saying goes ! 👍😁 So, what scale length are you playing now?
  17. *** Now SOLD *** Hi Folks, For Sale/For Trade: Fender 50's Classic Lacquer MIM Precision bass. I'm looking for £750 ono (which is what I paid for it). But I could also be tempted by an interesting trade - quality cab, short-scale bass, et, etc.. So, I bought this fantastic sounding P Bass here on Basschat a year ago from Jon, aka @Mudpup, who I'm sure will attest to what a great bass it is... It's called a Classic P Bass for a reason, and that's because it sound like you always imagined a P Bass should! Its punchy, growly, full and warm sounding and works great in just about any musical setting you can think of where electric basses are used... I bought it for a recording project (which it was perfect for) but now that particular project's finished, I find I'm not using it so much - preferring instead, my G&L SB1 because it has more of a Jazz neck profile.. To quote Jon: ".. this has a Nitro finish and is the same series as the sought after Mexican Roadworn basses. It's effectively a Roadworn without the factory relic job - you can give it some genuine wear yourself. And of course it's iconic Black and Maple 🙂" Alder body, one piece lightly sanded maple neck with the skunk stripe and the truss rod is working fine. Possibly due to the wider neck, these basses are very stable and very resonant sounding. Weighs is approx 8.6lbs. Previous owner fitted a Hipshot Detuner which correctly matches the reverse winding tuners on this model. And the original tuner comes with the bass. A Black White Black WD pickguard has been fitted, but the original brass anodised guard is also included. Another quote from Jon's For Sale ad last year, which still holds true: "Condition is used with some dinks and marks in the nitro finish. There is light scratching on the back but not full on buckle rash. You can see buckleworm on the back up close. It's all genuine mojo wear though and looks fine from a few feet away - this is a gig machine rather than a case queen." A Fender deluxe gig bag is included. Ideally, collection from Potton in Central Bedfordshire, 3 miles from the Beds/Cambs border is preferred, but I'd be happy to meet up within a reasonable distance if that helps. Trial of the bass is welcomed. I've got amps in the house and a Zoom B3 + headphones set up for a car meet if it helps. Plus the obligatory tea/coffee /biscuits of course.. Thanks for looking and please message me if you have any other questions. 😊 Cheers Nik
