1.
These are such good basses. Practically giving it away. Hope it goes to a good home - would have had it myself but I am really trying to be good. The fact that I have hovered over these images for a good five minutes, makes me think I am not cured yet. Good luck. Cheers.
+1
2.
My old one weighed in at 4.8 kilos. Sounds heavy but it's not when it's on. One of the most comfortable and well balanced basses I'd ever owned. They are the ultimate 5 string unless you want to spend double the money. Good luck with the sale.
+1 GLWTS
3.
I love mine.
Me too! I can't believe what this little unit has to offer.. The amp sims are really cool - especially the GK800, the Markbass and the Aguilar. But there's also a couple of really useful pre-amps as well. On top of that, the compressors are really good - the dbx160 clone is so good I'm not using my real dbx compressor! Just for those features alone, it's fantastic, but there's the tuner, drum machine and looper to make it even more indispensable. And it's a lot of fun too. Worth a lot more than the asking price IMHO.
4. Dave bought my p/j pick ups and all went smoothly... Great person to deal with so buy/trade in complete confidence!
5. Don't see many Lag basses on here so this is a bit of a treat! Looks really nicely made with good features and hardware.. A lot of quality for a fair price. GLWTS!
6.
Hi Nik Good to hear from you mate, hope all's well? Decided to get the electronic doobry out for this and results are below (not entirely sure where spacing should be measured so have given three options) Centre B to centre E string at tailpiece 18.10mm Outside of G string to outside of D string at saddle 18.63mm Centre to centre of G to D string at saddle 17.44mm And I have just reweighed the bass and sorry to those of you who PM'd asking me to do so, it is still 5kg. I was wondering whether the scales were crap so weighed the TRB6, which is far bigger (56mm at the nut and 20mm spacing), but that weighed in at 4.3kgs. The vagaries of wood I guess I will say that I don't find the fiver heavy (it's certainly lighter than my old Wal which I really had to grapple with. Having said this I do own a mid 70's Strat that weighs in at 4.3 kgs, the same as the TRB6, so perhaps I'm just a real man
Hi Chris I'm good thanks; hope you are too? That string spacing sounds more like it to me, and certainly a more comfortable fit for a larger group of players on here I would have thought. Looks like a very, very nice bass to my eyes; Yamaha make such understated high quality gear that they probably don't get as much praise as they should! Nik
7. Great looking bass Chris; GLWTS! Quick question - is the string spacing really 17mm at the bridge? I though that Yamaha 5s were generally 19mm at the bridge - certainly the two I've had over the last 10 years have been.. Nik
8. Great blog Silvia! Roll on the South East Bash 2015! Nik
9. And another BUMP. Potentially, the last 'pre-EvilBay' BUMP! As always, I'd much rather sell on Basschat if possible. Nik
10. Thanks Paul
11. Just sold a Zoom B2 to Paul.. Great guy to deal with and would be very happy to deal with him again. Nik
12.
Just bought two 12" JBL cabs with Eminence drivers from Stevie and can't thank him enough for his help throughout! Completely brilliant deal, great comms and he even packed them up and shipped them out to me just before going on his holiday.. Stevie is an absolute top bloke to deal with and I can't recommend him highly enough to one and all here on Basschat! Thanks Stevie
...Two and a half months on and I'm still buying quality gear from Stevie! This time around, a Studiospares pre-amp arrived at Silverfoxnik Towers in super-quick time and it's just what was required. So in terms of leaving feedback, I can only repeat what I've already said above.. Thanks again Stevie! Nik
13. Bought a jack to jack speaker cable from Dave at the South East Bash. It's brilliant bit of kit and as ever, Dave is always a pleasure to deal with! We're lucky to have him here on Basschat... Nik
14. That's good Si, Even I won something at the raffle, so it must have been an especially fortuitous day!
15. Another BUMP. Potentially, a 'pre-EvilBay' BUMP! As always, I'd much rather sell on Basschat if possible.
16. Hi BigJim, Cool! I'll PM you in a minute. Thanks Nik
17. Sunday BUMP! Fabulous & rare valve pre-amp still for sale.. Make me an offer...
18. Another BUMP! There must be someone out there that needs an inexpensive, good quality 5 string bridge, either for an upgrade or a build project..??
19. Very surprised this hasn't sold! I remember having a play on this at a South East Bash a few years ago, and it sounded fabulous. I've had three of these over the last 7 years and IMHO, its a flawlessly designed bass, beautifully made and so versatile its untrue.. If funds would permit at this time, I'd definitely be buying this.. But as they don't, then all I can do is wish you all the best with sale!
20.
Great stuff, Nik and Colin While I'm sifting through the pics from the bash, I feel I really have to post one of Chimike with his awesome, still unfinished amp/cab jobby. It's the one at the centre of the group photo above, and we had stuck on the amp a piece of paper with "Ped" written on it!
Great picture by the way Silvia!
