A mate of mine really raves about Livewire, says they`re the best AC/DC tribute he`s seen (I will get round to seeing at some point).

My (now deceased) best mate used to be the Malcolm in Livewire. They are a properly committed bunch and well worth a watch if you are a fan of ACDC

As @Rosie C mentions, the 2 part set with different singers is a nice touch. Highly recommended 👌

I plugged my new BAM200 into this speaker cabinet (Sound Town 2x10 also new) and am getting very little sound out of it. This is with both gain and volume set at max. Is this a mismatch or is something faulty?

Okay I am officially an idiot. After swapping out amps, cables and then basses, the last was what made me realize that the battery for the active circuitry in the first bass (also brand new) tested was dead. But that brings up another question though, how do I keep the battery from draining so quickly (I'm new to active basses)? Will unplugging the instrument cable from the bass shut down the circuitry and safe battery life?

Yes, always unplug an active bass as the socket is the switch (in nearly every case).

I'm sorry to hear it was bad.

I know he's deviated quite a bit from what he represented in his younger days, but always hoped he might still have an edge....

I just looked at the tour dates. Wow he's really packing the shows in over May and June.

I wonder if people will walk out from every show?

I'm fairly confident that if no-one walked out he would be disappointed.

I built this bass as a gift for a friend when I worked at the Yamaha custom shop in LA around '94-'95. I used  a Yamaha neck but it had nothing to do with the company. The black lines in the fingerboard are graphite to increase the strength of the neck and to make the strings speak better. I wound the pickups as well. The body is basswood with a maple veneer on top. It's great to see it after all these years!

    Amazing!

    Definitely some FNM in there.

The quiet, jazzy breaks in between heaviness is very FNM

The singer has heard a bit of Patton along the way I reckon. I'm really into his style, singing along in the car for years has improved my voice considerably

Just watched this and was blown away by the chemistry and the talent in this s band . Willow is Will smith daughter , mohini dei on bass 🤯🤯🤯🤯

Enjoyed that, especially the last number.

Mohini Dey and the Pocket Queen is one hell of a rhythm section 🙂

There's not much I can think of where a downtuned 4 won't suffice. Of the stuff I've seen a lot of 5 players playing, that G string doesn't exactly take a thrashing. However, good stuff to play along to tuned down low...

Celtic Frost - Monothiest > beautiful and aggressive without disappearing up its own arse, in terms of technicality

Mindfunk - Dropped > You might like this whole album, ahead it its time when it comes to low grooving, good use of lower register stuff without dwelling on one low note all the time

Living Colour - Stain > When Wimbish uses a 5 it's for a good reason, any of their albums with him would do

Morbid Angel - Covenant > features a few tunes down in B that are a challenge to play

My first band used to cover a Mindfunk tune, haven't heard of them for ages 👍

  8. A search of completed listings on eBay suggests they go for around £3-500.

That picture seems to indicate it is pretty filthy with some tarnish to the metal work, so a good clean and polish plus possibly some hardware changes will be in order.

    (edited to add) @SICbass

I've colour coded the pots as mine are in completely different places to yours and also neither match @Happy Jack's description 😃

Upper front - volume, no indent, green

Lower front - pan, indented, blue

Upper rear - bass, indented, red

Lower rear - treble, indented, yellow

Judging by the tape it's been apart at some point...

Thanks for the super-quick help Jack. The odd thing is, that the upper rear (i.e. volume) is indented and the lower rear (bass - boost/cut) isn't. Do you reckon the guy wired the two the wrong way around? Would the bass even work (i.e. make a noise) that way?

I have one of these at home (and I'm pretty sure I have another complete preamp too)

I'll see what mine are like and let you know later

Edit - mine is also fretless, you don't see many!
