  1. Picked up a SB315 for peanuts but the cost keeps going up! Absolutely great bass and slightly unusual as it has a transparent finish. I’ve removed the stock pre and installed an Audere which sounds tremendous. The plan being to replace the black hardware with gold but I can’t find a drop in bridge and I am scared of drills! I’m all set for the 80s revival.
  2. I did a bit of research and it would appear to be a very faithful copy, apart for some switches. Also some pics I saw suggest the internal electronics are remarkably similar. Probably have build issues but it seems solid.
  3. All in £83 (I think) took a week and a half to arrive.
  4. Was looking for a preamp EQ type pedal for using at home and on impulse bought this Ly-Rock Tonemonster from AliExpress. In my defence I didn’t know it was such a rip off of the Bass Simplifier! Have to say it sounds really quite good tho! Dunno if it’s anything like the real thing. It is very tweakable got some really cool tones and seems very well made but still ….
  5. Could double in the upright and get rid of my Headway maybe.
  6. Nordstrand Starlifter Preamp? Phil Jones Bass PE-5 Preamp?
  7. Cheers I must have been foxed by the size of the pic! Not that fussed re Ampeg but just looking for options. I just never used the EBS drive though I did use the 2nd channel. The MXR is good I had one before but I'm veering towards the bassbone which look enormous so maybe the EBS after all!
  8. Bassbone autocorrects to Bassoon 🤣
  9. I'd be looking at using a few different basses, some with pre-amps and some without. it's really so I can have a bit more control over the EQ. It's just an notion to have an analogue board instead of always using a Helix ... I suppose something like an Origin Effects bass rig could be good but expensive.
  10. Hi I'm looking for for a DI with some tone shaping, I used to have the EBS Microbass which was great but it's a bit overkill, I don't need overdrive or an extra channel. But the tuner in the Microbass III looks very useful and the the send/return. I'm thinking of putting together a small analogue board which will go straight to the desk .... no amp. The Ampeg SCR-DI looks like a contender any recommendations much appreciated! Cheers S
  11. Hi I was asked by Greg Lounsberry to review his Mo Bass pedal which I recieved a month or so ago and am a big fan of. The pedal is great with an overdrive and a clean boost, I was specifically looking for something to liven up my digital setup (Helix). Lounsberry are big in the world of Hammond organs and the keys player in my band is an endorsee and that's how I found out about them. Just for transparency I did get a wee discount because of Alan (keys) but I would have payed full price. I don't think a new career beckons, however here it is for anyone who is interested! https://youtu.be/NHK3ko-45h8
  12. Not a great deal of bass related info on the pedals … lots of organ tho! I basically took a punt but very happy.
  13. Just a wee update! Greg from Lounsberry posted my pedal immediately after ordering but the person in the US Post Office thought Scotland was in Australia (!!!!) so my pedal was off to the land down under! I could track it and everything. So Lounsberry posted me another pedal which has just arrived and much to my surprise and as an apology Greg include an Organ Grinder Pedal and a T Shirt. Completely unnecessary as no apology was needed but I’m very grateful for the pedals! Briefly tried both pedals and they both sound great, I can see one as an always on pedal and the other as an overdrive. The pedals are designed to add life to digital setups, I use a Helix and I’m very happy with it but hope this adds a bit of vibrancy. Can’t praise Lounsberry enough for customer service. Greg is a real gent and the pedals are quality.

  15. Been on the look out for a tubey overdrive to add a bit of analogue warmth to my tone and was chatting to Greg at Lounsberry Pedals and took a punt on the Mo Bass. Lounsberry are big in the world of Hammond organs and keys. My keyboard player is an endorsee and raves about them but I didn’t realise they also had some some bass pedals. Anyway the pedal will hopefully be winging its way from the states soon as they aren’t available in the uk yet. Quite keen to try it! Merry Xmas me! https://bassmagazine.com/.amp/gear/lounsberry-pedals-announces-the-new-mo-bass-pedal

  17. I was wondering if anyone knew of any knobs that fit an Audere Preamp. I read John East knobs do. Looking for a black set!
  18. I was impressed by the build quality but haven’t used it yet!
  19. I should have posted in this thread! Does anyone know of a UK company that does reshelling? I had a set of UE Triple Fi 10s reshelled with custom moulds by Inearz about 5 years ago but one side is now faulty. I have a spare set and was looking to get them reshelled. Inearz did a great job but they are in Florida and prices have shot up!
  20. Hi does anyone know of a company in the UK that reshells earphones with custom moulds? I had a pair reshelled by Inearz in Florida but I’d rather go localish.
  21. I heard some clips and it sounds great. Hopefully here in a day or so!
  22. Are they something to do with Valeton? I had a Dapper and it was great.

    Cheap Octave

I very sparingly use octave and have on original OC-2 and an Octamizer but in an ever increasing urge to cram more stuff on my mini board I’ve bought one of these Sonicake Octavers, £25! How good or bad can it be https://www.sonicake.com/products/octave
