  1. Looks great that bass of yours!
  2. Hey @Bassassin I was hoping you would reply! I reckon every time someone buys a strange Japanese bass you are on speed dial! That Sleekline looks great. I'm glad these are rare as I don't need to have another thing to collect! Thanks for the info!
  3. Don’t want to bore people to death with this but I’m genuinely knocked out at what an excellent wee bass this is. I’m not much for tinkering with truss rods etc but got the action down really low and it plays and sounds really great. Cleaned up the saddles and got some speed knobs which look like the originals.
  4. The F2 just looks fantastic totally looks like quality instrument.
  5. Bizarrely my wife, who has less than zero interest in my bass playing walked by and said that sounds good! I was astounded but a bit hacked off as she never says that when I’m playing any of my instruments that cost thousands of pounds! Maybe hoping I’ll sell them 😜
  6. Yes the guy was selling it with a couple of guitars originally and I sent him an offer and he didn’t reply. I thought it was maybe too low but he came back today and said he hadn’t seen the message when I sent it but just read it and would take the offer if I bought the bass today, so I did. I was worried it would be knackered and it was a bit manky but cleaned up well and I have to say sounds great!
  7. Picked up one of these odd Japanese basses today. Just couldn’t resist it😣. Not totally a barn find as it wasn’t for total peanuts but it was cheap. Cleaned it up restrung and fixed the action. Some marks on the body as you would expect from a 40 year old bass, neck is super clean and bizarrely it works, not even a crackle! Sounds great, lightweight and strangely cool to my eyes. Any info much appreciated. Needs new knobs and it looks like they should be black speed knobs. Bridge a wee bit discoloured and oxidised I think the saddles should be gold so maybe see about replacing but it works. Quite pleased!
  8. completed - All items shipped on this order Looks like the Jazz is back in stock and mine has shipped!
  9. Hi Gaz I'll speak to Graeme and get him to take some to get more details. Thanks!
  10. Cheers guys, he’s a good bloke just didn’t know what it was!
  11. A friend of mine, not a bass player, was gifted a bass 30 years ago or something. He just sent me some pics asking if it’s worth restoring. Looks to me like a Burns Bison but I’m no expert …. Any ideas? Looks like it was black and been stripped.
  12. I actually find the Rick very comfortable to play now and relatively versatile, not just full on aggressive tones ( but mostly 😜).
  13. I just sold my fretless 4003 but still have my fretted Rick. Made in 1983 I think? I had a real problem when I got the Rick at first.... it sounded terrible! But it was my playing, I was far too heavy a player. My other basses were obviously more forgiving but the Rick was clancking and buzzing and rattling. I had to just stop playing so hard which ironically has improved my playing overall.
  14. “We have emailed you yesterday that the bass you ordered should only arrive with us on the 22.01.2025, this was an error by our product management, the year is 2024 and not 2025. So the bass you ordered is now due to arrive with us on the 18th of January 2024. We are sorry for the confusion and the mistake that was made here.” I’m back in the game! Thank god they emailed me, I almost impulsively bought another bass to replace the 1st one I bought on impulse that was delayed. 😬
  15. I doubt it! I don’t actually expect to get the bass, but hope springs eternal!
  16. Just been told by Thomann that they are expecting these in stock in January 2025! I payed by paypal and they haven't taken the cash so I'm going to leave the order live and see where I am a year down the line, the Thomann person was very sure they would be delivered!
  17. I wasn’t getting the tone I was after with the Stomp so I bought the SGT DI. The Stomp is cool but the SGT DI does the Ampeg thing better. Still use the Stomp tho. apologies for the psychedelic carpet!
  18. Found my old copy of Funkifying the Clave but no cassette! I’ll see if I can find the audio online. (I’ve been trying and failing to play Latin music for a long time 🙄)
  19. Cheers! I bought this about a million years ago! It came with a cassette! I might still have it in the loft.
  20. Thanks looks great certainly not basic for me anyway!
